As i understand it the beach is claimed and the rights are givem or leased to the city of Nome for the turist trade. It is not public land.

@2yung4u I believe, but I could be wrong. That from High tide line to low tide line is open to the public for prospecting and can not be claimed..

please correct me someone if I am wrong..

@tdz61 In all of the US in coastal regions, the state lands start at the mean high tide line.
