Arguably he DID make it like he made 300. Alot of the dialogue is taken straight from the graphic novel, as in 300, alot of the scenes are reconstructed frame for frame, as in 300, the chronological structure that Mr Rallis objected to is as it was in the graphic novel (I take it you didn't like 21 Grams then?) the only major difference was the ending, it would have taken another hour to explain how they got to that and they kept the same general message with what they did anyway.
