memory works in a cool way. comparing a mental map of where you're driving vs actually driving there is completely different. you can remember things better by being given multiple choices which is recognition you can find in landscapes and signs. you see what you're looking for and know where you need to go.
smart phones are a great way to expand your mind. it just depends on how you use them. you're supposed to be okay without them.
@barnumeffect5 considering that you have Barnum in your nick, I guess that you are studying psychology.
The other types of memory you mentioned are totally irrelevant to the discussion here, it is more than clear that I am referring specifically to declarative memory.
@spider853 - Good question. They will definitely have to have NANO-sized accelerometers and gyroscopes (that do already exist) onboard the device to track eye movement and to share and compare pupil position information to compute x/y gaze and depth. ONLY when that is accomplished will anything like this serve a purpose. Plus, solar cells for onboard power, but that's simple compared to the rest.
They're going about this the wrong way, do this with glasses. Imagine if the light is too bright, instinctively you close your eyes to protect them, but the images are still right there searing into your retinas.
With glasses, the display is much bigger, it would be much easier to program, and if it hurts, you can just take them off.
haha furry avatar over reality face. no fursuits. but about medicine, i think ppl that is almost blind woul have expanded vision, and Predator power vision! i have to agree with the ppl who said that glasses are better, can have wi fi, and dont need batteries or microprocesor within them, because only with a thin cable to your backpak, or a bag, etc, or connect the glasses to your cell phone, i think that woul be easier. what do you think? and with a health sensor we could say Its over 9000!!
If you can display on the inside, how about a display on the outside? I would love to have contacts that would let me display different colors at whim.
@gonepostalmanny72 Yeah, and you could have a heart rate and body temperature monitor collaborating with it, so it'd change automatically with your mood.
And after this our short and medium term memory will become so underused that we will not remember shit about our everyday life.
It is already happening with our smartphones that stores the numbers for us, and it is happening with GPSs.
Now we perform really poorly remembering phone numbers and positional information (such as streets).
As technology advances, the human becomes stupider.

Was thinking the same. Besides, this way we even have additional space in the temples for batteries, bluetooth capabilities and micro sd cards.

"Hey ___, how's that sex tape going? You were the weeks most watched last time on YouPorn!"
"___, what's up!? You still looking for a job since we threw you out?"
"Woah, how did you hack your Avatar from the Furry Porn Forum you frequent onto your face?"
Yeah, I can kind of only see Military/Medic/Science Applications for this right now, everything else will result in pure unadultered Horror.
