He should go to ear monitors. Sometimes he is a little flat. Before anyone gets on my case here, I am a huge Macca fan. But, I don't know why he continues to use just floor monitors. He can still hit the origional keys but he needs to hear better. Just an opinion.
@iggyshwartz Totally get what you're saying, this may be a nostalgia thing on his part. His response might be the same he gives when people say "Revolver" and "Rubber Soul" should have been a double LP and "THE BEATLES" just one disc... "what do you want, it's the bloody Beatles' White Album!"
@patton303 LIVE IN SEATTLE KING DOME 1976 is a semitone higher. Billy Joel used to sing in some freaksihly high keys like in An Innocent Man, but lately he's delegated the high notes to a backing vocalist/band member.
Only discovered band on the Run when Live in the World came out. Great song, great album.
@makkari1 I believe that it's because of the quality of the video (or the way the video was played and digitalized) that performance sounds a semitone higher and I think they played the song in the original key, which is the same here
@ZeEduardoRebelo You may well be right - I can't see the keyboards in the 76 recording, which would clinch it, but the one place where Macca should be playing bottom string open, i.e. a concert E, and the camera is on him, he is. Notwithstanding any propensity for retuning strings, of course. The drums are deffo in the same key, though.... Great, great song. Still sounds great almost 40 years on.
@makkari1 Yeah... and in the 76 rec, on the third part, we can see that 12-string starting at C major... But, as you said, they can have retune strings... But yes, it's doubtless a great song!! (and Paul still can reach high notes well)
i cant believe he can sing those high notes just barely hitting them with perfect growl and age ...im 25 and i cant do it yet.....yet is the word how can I expand my range to hit that" I hope your having fun!" part....im taring up my voice just trying...i even tried tuning a half step down and its tough....
Paul and this band are fantastic. I love them all. The great muppet show drummer,he is so awesome, the guitarplayer, wix welcome back in the band, paul with this wonderful hofner bass, and the song is great too. Paul is the best alive musican in the word. yes
This was an amazing gig by an amazing all-time legend - utter privelege to be there especially on my 50th birthday . Pure inspiring entertainment start to finish(2 hours 45 I think - not bad for a 68 year old) just love him so much - long may he live and play!
@TheAlvinChannel It's a Danelectro - I understand that Jimmy Page used to use one too. Danelectro are still going, in fact they make some great budget effects pedals - check out the "FAB" range.
Paul McCartney play Wings and Beatles, and he is so great, and this band is so fantastic, specially the drummer, what a gift to have the chance to see it 2o11, and Paul ist sitll alive and on tour. Thanks God.
"Sgt Pepper" is my all-time favorite album (magic) and McCartney is a living legend. However.............as much as he means to me and all the happiness I owe him..............its time for Paul to "hang it up" with live Rock And Roll. He can still fill a stadium - he's a Beatles after all - but it doesn't look right anymore. Sorry. He's already had an ASTONISHING life, so I am not sure why he feels he needs to do this. I think small acoustic sets are now in order. Even Beatles get old.
@PicnicHikeMusic He doesnt need to "hang it up". His concerts are some of the best - no one sings beatles (and wings) songs like the man himself. If he wants to do it, and people want to see it, then why not? He does live concerts for the thrill of it - probably keeps him young. he certainly doesnt need to do it for the money.
@PicnicHikeMusic Well Mr Picnic, you don't have to go. There are thousands of us who still love going to see him - he's one the best live attractions around.
Muito bom Paul McCartney vc é um gênio, háaaaaaaaaaa se os Beatles nunca tivesse separado, seria muito foda ver Jhon e Paul e companhia tocando com essa energia de Paul..................
I still can't get over how hot it was that day... You don't really appreciate it if you didn't experience it... but Lord, this great man definitely made it all worth while! Thankyou, Sir Paul :)
this man is the reason i still listen to music. i can remember listening to the hard days night album in my parents living room when i was 6. i haven't put the beatles or anyone of their stuff down since..thank you for being a god!
@Saenz700 I was about ten rows from the front, and believe me, despite us all standing for an excess of six hours in 30+ degrees heat (as well as half of us being suicidal due to our thrashing at the hands of Germany in the world cup...) prior to Macca coming on, we were going mad throughout!
@tomdolan07 Me too... I was about 5 back from the front center... it was really hot that day! I had to almost crawl home after standing for over 9 hours during the day and almost colapsing at one point before Paul came on...(I didn't want to loose my place! so it was ok! :)
