@bakonlicious Msr will fly fwd faster than you can run. It's not as stable as the mcx but I'd still consider it a good trainer for anyone who already has the orientation neurons connected in his head. Best place to start flying it is outside in calm winds...Less to bang into.
@HPIxDrift Yes, it makes no difference. I get the fastest forward motion by yawing the nose left a bit while counteracting with opposite aileron. It moves forward at about double the forward speed, but still not faster than you can walk.
Man... your flight skills are great - but your videography is even better! It's hard to find good quality videos like this... great job on both counts!
Aw, shucks... thanks! I still enjoy flying this little heli and I've since figured out how to wring out a little more forward speed out of it. I haven't modified anything mechanically, it's just by using control inputs. Think I'll dust off the ol' HelmetCam and put up another video about it soon.
Ok, picture sticking a pencil thru the middle of a model aircraft from top to bottom...Now, spin the pencil a bit and watch the model...That's yaw. Then, jam the pencil into the model straight thru the fuselage from nose to tail...Spin the pencil a bit...That's bank. Also, stick the pencil thru the fuselage from side to side, (like wings), spin the pencil a bit and that's pitch. Now, pull out the pencil and write this down, because there's going to be a quiz about it on Friday :)
On the controller for your MCX, You'll control YAW with a left/right motion of the left stick. BANK will be controlled with a left/right motion of the right stick. PITCH will be controlled with a forward/back motion of the right stick. (THROTTLE will be controlled a forward/back motion of the left stick.)
By the way, BANK in a coaxial heli like the MCX is more of a sideways skidding motion than the way you'd picture a bank in a fixed-wing airplane.
If it's your 1st heli, get the mcx but if you have experience flying coaxial helis already, get the msr which is a step up as far as flying skill needed.
I don't have the s300 but I hear it's the same heli as the MCX with a more scale-looking canopy. So, as long as the prices are the same, go for the one u think looks the coolest. After you get good flying it, i HIGHLY recommend the Blade mSR. I don't have a vid of it up on the channel yet as I don't think the maneuvers I can do on it are any different than the 1000 other YT vids of it out there right now, but one of these days...
I like this room....I remember when i first got a mini heli, not thinking i went outside and it went out of Range as i was Flying it up, and was stuck on that motion...Lol
Yes, but only in dead-calm winds, usually at sunrise or at dusk. My neighbor also has one of these and we drained a handful of batteries each, flying our MCX's out over my driveway yesterday evening. It's 1 ounce, so any wind will carry it off. We even found that one MCX flying over the other will force the lower one to land and it can't take off, just from the rotor down-wash.
i love this heli, i just got one and i had to got back to the hobby store and get extra batteries. so much easier to fly indoors than my blade cx2, 5stars, for both but enjoy the mcx more
The E-flite Blade MCX should be everyone's first 4 channel coaxial heli. For fun, one might want to try out a $22 three channel first, but this flies so much nicer. Thanks for viewing the channel!
$129.99 USD including the 2.4GHz radio plus an extra lipo battery at Redrockethobbies(dot)com. Lots of other places have it, but Red Rocket is the only one I've seen that gives you the free battery.
this is the perfect starter heli,it was my last lol,i flew a blade cp then cp pro then a trex 450.but i cant fly them in my house so i bought the mcx to fly in my house
Yes. Look at 2:07 and you can see it as the heli comes head-on at the camera. You get a slight bank when you input coordinated yaw and rudder at the same time. The forward speed also increases with this maneuver, so it's best not to be headed for a wall or grandma's china cabinet when you do it. Thanks for viewing!
Thanks for watching! It's a great first 4 channel heli. It's light enough so if ur headed for a wall and flying over carpet, just cut power and let it drop before the blades strike anything...Zero damage!
wow i bought one of those 3 days ago . ITS MY FIRST one. 4beginners its a challenge, thats why i love it so much. here in the video its flown by a pro .D
its a really good product, i need to practice a few more days. a good tip from me: buy an additional battery so u keep flying and flying .)
Thanks for viewing! The toughest thing for a newbie to learn is the perspective. Imagine yourself in the little cockpit of your heli while flying, and you'll catch on faster. If you're struggling, just master flying while always standing behind the heli, be it hovering or even walking along behind it as you fly forward and make turns. Once can you do that without crashing, then try head-on hovers, flying while watching it from the side and figure-eights. Have fun with it...You will get it!
Thanks for watching the channel! Depending on how far down u take the lipo, 10-20 min. charge time. I can get 9 minutes flying, (with a couple of landings with a short pause). I try to keep flights to 5-6 min to preserve those little motors, since they really heat up.
You're right, it is easy to fly. The problem is, if you want to move up to a conventional non-coax heli, you'll want to first fly a coax heli that is less forgiving than this one, like an Esky Lama V3 or V4. I know, I've been struggling to fly my Esky Honeybee for months. You have to pay constant attention to rudder on the Honeybee, and with the MCX, you can pretty much ignore rudder until you're ready to change direction. I'd still recommend the MCX though. It's a fun flier. Thx for viewing!
can someone help me with a problem with my mcx? The last time I flew it before it broke, it doesnt want to go forward as it does going backward
now that I have it tooken apart, the servo works fine, but when it was in the heli, it souded like it couldnt move forward all the way, what is the problem?
Maybe the servo loosened from the board and the gear slipped on the bottom so it doesn't have enough travel? You could also try pulling the ball link and turning the control rod, (it's threaded) to get the travel you need.
Check the gear on the servo. had the same prob, cleared out some debris in the gear w/ an exacto that was making it hard for the server motor to rotate the gear
Thanks kindly for your comments. I appreciate them. Nice job. I have to approve the videos, and there are a bunch yet to get to, over 300 PMS today. Sorry if I haven't got to your approval yet. I have a flying video coming up later too.
