  • wow these shows i used to laugh at and enjoy in my younger years are quite full of lessons and ideas that were stealthily projected at us in our most mentally vulnerable years

  • 2:30 Where did those kids in the background come from?

  • @KakashiLover2111 holy crap XD lmao i didnt notice them o.o

  • Spinelli reminds me of God :]

  • Spinelli: "I know because I know"

God: "I am, that I am"

  • Not to mention swing on thru to the otherside is a doors song an if we know what the doors stand for I'd say this episode is way more against mysticism and those new age beleifs I don't see this episode had anything to do with Christianity if u think it does you don't know Christianity... It's way more about new age hippie like cults .. Even thought I don't really have a preference against anything which is how it should be live and let live

  • Swinger-Girl, huh?

  • 7:25 SONG REFERENCE FROM GTA SA THUMBS UP IF YOU REMEMBER IT!

  • Nice

  • Okay, it's obvious. Recess was not only a really popular kid's show, it had a message in almost every episode, and some pretty mature jokes that fly way over the kid's heads. In this one, it's pretty obviously about cults or new age mysticism or whatever. And to be honest, I commend the creators for teaching something to kids, while still being subtle about it.

  • It is preaching against all athletics

  • What is Disney teaching here?

Racism, anti Ohio state university propaganda? GO BUCKS

  • For Fuck Sake

when i first saw this episode i was like 5 1/2 back then i enjoyed it because there weren't losers like you lot who tried to decode some sort of secret code or link it back to a religion. This was meant for 5 year olds not middle aged priests.

  • Reminds me of Christianity

  • This episode is the coolest

  • Both religion and atheism are wrong.

  • @gween

    good call.

Religion and atheism are false. But they are, fortunately,, opportunities to realize what falseness is.

  • @gunslingingmadness Indeed, they are both powered by Emotion, a powerful human quality that can go wrong if unchecked, just like Water if left unchecked it turns murky.

Its elementary really, the universe is quite organized and everything has a purpose.

  • Boom... Atheism.

  • Comment removed

  • Is this a rolling stones referance :P? lol

  • @skate456park It's a "The Doors" reference from their song "Break on through (to the otherside)." :P

  • Upside-down girl = Helga G. Pataki

  • @Callinallfellas i see what u did there! lol

  • “Theodore Sweet gentle Theodore”. ; )

Oh and I find it kind of SWEET that ‘T. J.’ is worried about ‘Spinelli’ possible getting her self badly hurt or WORSE; if she goes on with this whole “Swing to the other side” thing, so he tries to talk her out of it in attempt to stop her. : )

  • 00:31 why the fuck does this kid have a pillow ?

  • @verno123456789 thats sleepy kid lol :D hes always sleepy

  • FREE HAT!!!

  • First Dave the Barbarian then this? what's next? The Emperor's new groove TV series?

  • @thephsicicwerewolf wtf it's a kid show not the bible

  • @simmylove123 I could still be sending a message.

  • @TehComentar It*

  • @simmylove123 It's a kid's show, but it has a lot of adult themes in it.

  • Lol ikr

  • You know I think I get what this episode is saying. I think swinger girl represents Jesus or some kind messiah and all the kids forming a religion out of it. I think what the episode says is that "sure, religions have some really wacky ideas and the stories probably didn't happen or were over exaggerated, but even if that's true, religion still teaches us some good values to it should not be forgotten.

  • Gus is a brony

  • 5:26 LOOK AT THAT GUYS FACE ಠдಠ

  • 4:49

    TF2 in a nutshell.

  • @baxteristhatu1 me too nub

  • A kid I went to school with tried going over the top of the swings before. He sort of made it but once he got up there gravity took over and instead of doing a 360 around the top bar, he just swung up and then fell straight down onto the bar and then from the bar down to the ground. It was a tall ass swing set too. I remember he broke his arm or something like that. Crazy bastard.

  • 6:13 Gus is a Brony

  • I miss these old shows now cartoons are so dumbed down it makes me worry about the intelligent level of the next generation

  • now its even more like valve everyone gets pissed and quits

  • Meanwhile at valve.... Anyone who joins gets a free hat! OMG I wanna join

  • @TheSnowmanCR Whats valve?

  • @Charlie12241 Valve is a gaming company that made such great games like half life and portal and my favorite left 4 dead

  • How did she afford all those goddamn hats?

  • Nigger kid 05:20

  • @Mapton racist people are dumbass. focus so much on something nobody cares about that you forget the obvious. Vince is part of the main cast.

  • Just like valve giving free hats to everyone

  • Whats the meaning of this episode?

  • @kdotmj Only entertaining people.

  • @Charlie12241 every recess episode has meanigul message about youth this one is the ablity for kids to belive things such as santa ect

  • i remember watching this years ago on tv :D

  • they just dont make cartoons like this anymore

  • @Madi4899 yh.......take cartoonnetwork for example

  • New age mysticism in a nut shell.

That was a big focus during the 90s era.

  • this is a kids show, don't worry bout religion and just enjoy the show

  • The swinger girl has becomed a cult thing... LOL

  • It's funny how every one has turned this cartoon episode into a religious debate. It's a cartoon just get over it.

  • great to see thought-poking cartoons :)

  • best show ever!

  • religion in a nutshell

  • gus is a brony!

  • Spinelli is soooo wierd

  • upside down girl, you can't skate upside down

  • Haha even Disney knows how ridiculous is religion. Yay Atheism

  • @Edward707c your an athiest?

  • @micksquizzy Yep. Yes I am.

  • @Edward707c i'm a christian :)

  • @Edward707c And then they gave us the Jonas Brothers. Ya win some, ya lose some....

  • @CoolerKing37 yup ..so is life

  • she keeps saying my swinger girl like they're dating

  • I was in 1st grade when this came out. Damn, I'm getting old.

  • Is this episode anti religion? Lol awesome a kids show with balls

  • @ThatsWhatTheManWants i think its more anti cult than anti religion

  • @chanson301 Is there a difference? lol

  • @burntoastvideos ...i happen to be very religious and you are a twat... just messing with xD

  • @chanson301 Could be both, I think, since cults are usually affiliated with religion. In sociology, they're considered to be part of the same category. Cults are different from organized religions or sects because they're smaller and more contained.

  • @chanson301 took the words right out of my mouth, her...we'll call it organization seems more cultish, not religious.

  • @chanson301 whats the difference lol

  • @ThatsWhatTheManWants Religion sucks anyway :/

  • @IwubMaiColettie fuck ya

  • @antaus1 brofist!

  • westboro baptist church references? LOL

  • @uhhhhwhaaaat how ? lol

  • the upside down girl on the bar was Helga from hey arnold!!

  • microcosm

  • Hey guys, i managed tobswinh over the top and writing this message from another dimension!

  • I know because i know - reeks of religion lol kids shouldn't be watching this.

  • I am converting to Swingerism.

  • I have now converted to Swinger Girl.....<3

  • THIS IS RELIGION FOR YOU.

  • 2 words. hip pee

  • there's a good little fellow

  • i love how the plot is so simple but exxagerated x100 ;D

  • Exaggeration, over analyzing, point without proof, and shrines made with jump robes uh this was a great show back then

  • Her voice pisses me off too, but the Doors reference made when he said "Break on through to the other side" made up for it

  • The name Spinelli makes me want to hit her

  • THis is my fave episode.. recess rocks

  • this episode implies a lot of the falsehood of modern day Christianity. as well as other beliefs in taking the creation as divine. rather in Truth, recognizing the harmony and balance in all of creation through your senses reflect the existence of One Power, One Wisdom, One Sustainer behind everything whom we may refer to as God in the English language.

  • i hope no one actually tries to swing over to the other side.. its super dangerous

  • I remember this episode off by heart lol =D

And does anyone know what the name of the episode is where Spinelli can't decide what career she wants in the future and that guy comes in to talk to the school and tells her he didn't know what he wanted to do for ages. ???

    Thanks =)

  • @ollytennant haha the gum proof shoes.

  • Oh, Mikey. I love you.

  • Very thought provoking fora kid's show. Not an incredible analysis of religion, but but very interesting

  • ummm, where is finster @ 7:15?

  • @Seracinfinity Obviously this conversation will go in circles they way its heading now. Obviously I disagree with you on things but I would like to thank you for not turning our conversation into a insult laden tirade.

  • I REMEMBER THIS EPISODE!!

  • What state are they from? I wanna say Ohio but I'm not sure?....

  • @beamerball666 They're in Arkansas. In one episode, where Gretchen aces the test and almost gets transferred out of third street, Miss Finster refers to the test as the "Arkansas Standard Achievement test".

  • @Seracinfinity

    A) You should reread what I wrote. I never said that there wasn't a spread of Christianity before Theodosius. But before him Christianity was persecuted against and was considered a cult for many years. Doesn't mean that it didn't spread.

B)We don't have a lot of evidence. There is SOME evidence of a HISTORICAL Jesus but NO evidence of a DIVINE Jesus.

C)You are not speaking of Truth , you are speaking about your biased view on what you think is truth. Religion is not fact.

  • @lnvaderGir A) You should have read what I said. I said it wasn't a cult, because it wasn't controlled. And control over members is a necessity of a cult.

    B) No, we have a lot of evidence to support a historical Jesus. In fact, this Jesus is considered fact now. Jesus definitely existed. The question of Jesus' inherent divinity is different. However, there is some evidence, such as the rapid spread of Christianity. Also, we must fall to the subjective interpretation of evidence. Cont..

  • @lnvaderGir C) No, I'm not. If you actually read what I wrote, I wrote that I don't believe that humans, without God, should have the intellect to grasp truth. Not religious truth, the truth of life. Evolution doesn't give rise to the abstract thought required to grasp truth. You need to read what I write before you respond.

  • Spinelli may have been nuts but she was right about the lessons.

  • wtf they go to recess at 10 then go home...

  • @TheVistaMaster noo look at the clock in the first few seconds, it's half 2, and they go home at 3

  • @PinkkElephantt yeah but it doesnt show them having lessons after recess they just go straight home

  • @TheVistaMaster I wish we could do that when I was a kid lol

  • @TheVistaMaster Does it ever make you think about how bad the neighborhood is when the Elementary School has barbed wire on top of the fence?

  • @TheVistaMaster they were probably just playing after school

  • Mr. Perfect already beat her.

  • Too bad Mythbusters tested going over the top of the swing set is impossible,

  • @ECL28E How can you prove that something's impossible? All you can really do is show what will most likely happen, and prove what is possible.

  • @deputyseal409 They showed even with a small rocket on the swing, a chain/rope swing will not go over the bar

  • this is a religion! "swinger girl worship" LOL!

  • Science in all its arrogance hahaha. Lets see science counteract a demon's powers over a domicile.

  • I am converted to Swingergirlism. Tumbs up if you are

  • Coming from an athiest, this is brilliant!!!

  • @darkcylander If you reread my post I wasn't preaching , I was stating facts.Except for C) that was obviously an opinion of mine but it proved the point to the other posters C). People can believe in anything they want , just don't go around saying things as facts when they clearly are not. If you can't realize that from my post then....well I don't know what to tell you.

  • An intelligent satire on organized religion? That just goes to show you how great Recess was. That's not something you'd find in any other cartoon show.

  • 5:25 on the left, the kid's skin is the same color as the helmet

  • @Montesama

The second theory sounds MORE likely.

  • @Seracinfinity

A ) Christianity was considered a cult for many years before it became mainstream in 380 A.D by Emperor Theodosius. Just because something is mainstream doesn't make it any better.

    B) We can apply the same to Christianity. We have no clue if Jesus was even real. On top of that people could of perceived something he did as divine when really it was coincidence.

    C) I find believing in Zombie prophets irrational.

  • @lnvaderGir why do you people always have to go on videos telling people what to not to believe? geez, you preach more then the preachers

  • @lnvaderGir A) The spread of Christianity was before Theodosius, and had a lot of followers. It wasn't as controlled as a cult is.

    B) We have a lot of evidence Jesus was real, be it the testimony of the Bible or the words of Romans and Jews alike that saw him. Also, mathematically (as, if you check my channel, is my strong point), a series of coincidences in order stops them being coincidences.

    C) I find believing in the humans capability to comprehend truth irrational.

  • Not to sound incredibly RUDE at all but I’d be curious on just what WOULD have happened if ‘Swinger Girl’ had never arrived at that last minute and ‘Spinelli’ pursued her attempt to go “Over the Top.”

  • I’m still a little shocked that Spinelli of ALL people was the one who started this whole organization; and her major change in personality as well, becoming so serene and mellow. I’d would have expected this kind of behavior and performance from Mikey. : O

  • @AntiqueAngel44 I think that was the whole point of the episode though because of her major change, if it was mikey then it wouldnt of been that interesting I dont think.

  • @LOLAtFatGirls

Well I sure am glad that it WAS Spinelli, cause if it were Mikey instead then the episode would not have been that THAT enjoyable for me. NO offence to Mikey it’s just that Spinelli is my FAVORITE character in the show. : )

  • @GearRocks I get that my favorite characters actually Swinger girl even though she never got many episodes at least this one is a good 1.

  • @Montesama

You’re right; ugg boots are made of suede, her boots look rubber to me.

  • Oh basket basket basket!!

  • I hate to create a religious conudrum when referring to the greatest show of all time. However, to all of the atheists here, I implore you to see reason:

    a) This show isn't mocking religion, it was mocking cults. I can see this because Vince, and some of the others, are Christian. Gus says: "He was going to wear that suit to church."

    b) Gretchen says: "By your senses", well, senses can be perverted; I assume many of you have seen Secret Window.

    c) Christianity isn't irrational.

  • Theodore has my name :>

  • i give it two days, if it hasn't happened already.

  • there's an atheist in all of us

  • So... it's an episode of how atheists try to reason with religious people. LOL. This show's just awesome.

  • hitler....

  • Hahahahaha mindless sheep

  • i always wanted to be like the ashleys but i turned out to be a gretchen :/

  • Oh sweet gentle theodore......WHAT THE HECK?!?!

  • I love this show. I wish i had gone to a school like this. I would want to be a digger, because all they do is dig all day & anything they find is theirs.

  • It's just like religion!

  • @raptorinator Ha it was just a cartoon for me at the time but your right in the same way i laugh at the name "swinger girl now.." Ahh the innocence of youth.

  • Comment removed

  • @raptorinator Or at least a stereotype of one.

  • @robertsfunny1995 Or, OR, how about it is just like religion.

  • @raptorinator more like a cult. xD

  • @KirikoAsakura Same thing.

  • @raptorinator Uh, no. They are not. And I'm saying this from definition and fact. Not opinion. Do not respond to this, I am too old for arguments.

  • @KirikoAsakura Well, you have zero sense of humor.

  • @raptorinator Nice comeback. *rolls eyes* I obviously have a better sense of humor than you, you think it's funny to offend people (And I am not easily offended). You have zero listening skills LEAVE ME ALONE!

  • @KirikoAsakura I love how you completely assume that I'm trying to offend you.

    Yup, real mature.

  • @raptorinator I'm not even going to dignify that with a response. You obviously still feel you have to win the argument, so I'm gonna let you. Say whatever the hell you want. Have your bottle you little baby.

  • @raptorinator Your unsaid implication to that statement is that I in fact did intend to offend you, because something obviously upset you enough to ignore several pleads to be left alone. Please do not put words into my mouth, leave me alone and good night.

  • very cool :-) 98%

  • I love the title of this episode. Jim Morrison anyone?

  • @esmi1977 I thought the same thing!
