Best Friends Animal Sanctuary - Angel Canyon

(The beginning part of this post is underneath)At the moment, were raising money for a class service trip to the sanctuary over spring break! We would be grateful for any donations to our trip-fund and we are also just overjoyed to be spreading the message of kindness to animals to others!

Best Friends is wonderful! I am a sophomore in high school, and a youth leader for Safe Humane Chicago. Best Friends sponsors us to go to elementary schools in underprivileged neighborhoods across Chicago and talk to kids about kindness to animals, compassion, proper care of animals, and the horrors of dog-fighting an animal cruelty! Ive met 3rd graders with the most horrible tales of animal cruelty which theyve WITNESSED!

Since I'm not rich enough to donate much money, I'm going to do the next best thing and come there and volunteer. It's gonna be WAY more fun, too! See you in a few days!

You'd be surprised how much money you can come up with for charity by doing the smallest things - like avoiding Starbucks, saving your spare change, eliminating expenses like land-line phones (if you already have a cell...) The vast majority of donations in this country come from the middle class, not the wealthy.  Hope you had a great time volunteering at Best Friends! I hope to do the same thing soon.

mjr: thanks! This is journeyman; I was spammed by some exploiter of animals who didn't like what I said somewher, so I can't use my handle until Oct 14.

Thanks for the tips on saving money for charities. (I never go to Starbucks!)

I had a great time at Best Friends, and wound up buying about $150 worth of stuff in their gift shop and donating another $20, and I brought some bags of dog biscuits and human treats too!

I recommend working with the pot-bellied pigs and the birds if you go there.

i just read the book about your place and i was so deeply moved. it's great that there are people out there that feel the same way i do about animals. if we could all adopt the same mindset, the world would be a much better place, not just for animals but for everyone. thank you for all that you do.
