15:20 We were told to keep the carry gun clean in our CCW class. If you happen to be at a shooting scene, you would need to declare your gun. An officer would simply ckeck it and let you go if it smells clean. If it smells like it's been shot, they would hold it during an investigation. They might just quickly let you go if they don't suspect you of any involvement but it would make things a lot easier for them.
Notice the length of this "Glock" video... 19:11. Coincidence? I think not. It is clear that you are using subliminal messages to tout the 1911 frame. I can't believe that you would stoop this low. :-) (kidding, kidding!!!) Thanks for the video, man!
same here spray the barrel let it sit and lightly alcohol the the dirty parts then apply the smallest amount of oil to the front of the slide and tiny amount to the rear and done.
The amount of oil you left on the outside of your glock barrel, wouldn't that cause it to jam from powder residue getting stuck to it? just wondering? Why do you use rem oil in some spots then another type of oil for other parts?
@Solingen1000 anything can give you cancer these days. but really who cares? we all are going to die sooner or later. might as well live happy and care free than miserable and worry about everything.
@Grunt922 Your right...Ill just not follow the safety rules and keep my finger on the trigger and look down the barrel to make sure im loaded. lol...after all..Ill die sooner or later.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, wow a vid of some1 cleaning a pistol..nut just do the awsome gun reviews ...if someone cant clean a gun they need to just quit shooting
Awesome video. I have heard of putting glocks in the dishwasher to clean them but the idea of having a $500 dollor pool of plastic and metal if it goes wrong is a cardinal sin in my book DON'T DO IT
Weird... I'm trying to decide which pistol to buy next and I've been considering the RUGER SR1911 and then I pull this video up and the length is 19:11.... Coincidence? I think not. Fate...
I clean my G22 religiously after every trip to the range, but really, Glocks don't give a damn how you treat them. They aren't sexy looking, but they do exactly what they're supposed to, EVERY time you pull the trigger. I tried the dirt cheap ammo from Wal-Mart once. DIRTY frikin ammo, lol. 6-8" muzzle flare in broad daylight, and after 500rds, she looked like a coal mine inside. And yet she was still firing & feeding perfectly. LOVE MY GLOCK! 7,000+ rounds down, and it's NEVER jammed.
@7x57mmMauser ~ Dude, relax, I was just making a frikin joke. The fact is, ALL guns fail. If they're not properly cared for, the most billy-badass guns on Earth will fail. With Glocks especially, running cheap reload ammo will almost guarantee a disastrous failure. I'm not "blind" to their drawbacks, I have my preferences, and you clearly have yours. There's nothing wrong with that.
Just watched the vid on gun cleaning and had a question. Although your vid demonstrated the cleaning of a Glock, I'd like to know if your knowledge and experience with a Beretta M-9 was cleaned with Hoppe's #9? The reasaon I ask is that I've just purchased a Beretta 96 A-1 with the black anodized finish and wanted to know if the finish on the "entire" gun was safe from the use of Hoppe's. Thanks for the vids and any help you can provide.
for those small areas, they now make 100% teflon "dental tools" which are great for getting into those tight corners without having to worry about scratching or marring any surfaces.
Ha ha... I missed this back in the day. Great music choice at the beginnng! Got a suprise LOL. A little more hokey muszak from time to time may inject unexpected cool versus the more normal, "hip" electro/metal/D&B/mellow acoustic guitar TNP repertoire.
Just watched Robert Dunlap's "Glock Armorer's Course" video, and he completely disassembled the gun and cleaned the individual parts. Just bought a used G17 from a mutual friend, and it's pretty filthy. Would you ever go that far to clean your Glock?
I just got a glock 17 around a month ago. I have only put 250 rounds through it so I don't think it needs to be cleaned just yet, but when I do clean it do you recommend buying a new set of tools or is it fine to use the ones provided in the case by glock?
liked the video up until the scrwedriver on the rails..better to use something like a old credit card or just Q-tips to avoid accidently scratching the slide..

Question: what are the bristles made of on the "toothbrush scrubber" you use? I am looking online and finding ones with bristles of nylon, bronze, stainless and who knows what else. Yours looks like nylon maybe, but it's hard to tell.
Mr. Nutnfancy, Please be aware that solvents have been known to have a great propensity to lead to MANY different types of Cancers (eg, lymphoma 'think spartacus'). I hope someone at TNP can forward message to him. Best wishes to your future endeavors, the community loves our TNP!
How come you didn't remove the stricker and clean out the stricker port, also why was the extractor, and pin not removed for cleaning? Just asking, I always do that with mine. Also I was always taught by the Glock Armourers to keep it dry, only one drop of lube on the outer slide rails and thats it>
I know a gunsmith who would go bananas if he saw you using H#9 on an automatic. First, it doesn't dissolve copper. Second, it leaves a sticky residue. I use Shooter's Choice. If the fouling is too stubborn, then some Birchwood Casey bore cleaner will finish it up for copper-jacketed. Sometimes use S.C. lead solvent in my .22s after a day of shooting plain-lead at the range.
Hoppies Hoppies HOPPIES!! Does everyone say Hoppes like this? I always thought it was like the bunny hopps through the garden. Lol maybe I'm wrong, not that it really matters, just sounds really funny :)
I spray out slides and frames with aerosol gun cleaner or WD40 in a pinch. Carb cleaner works too. Spray them out allowing fluids to run off into a catch can or something similar using the brush in between sprays. Compressed air to blow out excess followed by oiling.
Good job. I like to use gloves, especially when cleaning a couple of guns at the same sitting. Keeps the hands from soaking up all the chemicals. Small cuts really smart too when they contact the chemicals.
Thanks! I've been seriously into firearms for only about 2 years so this was really informative. I live in a cool, damp climate, so I just don't agree with the school of thought that goes with little or no barrel lube. I found a really cool little gun cleaning tool that's made of plastic - so no possibility of scratching - at countycomm... Norton's Universal Cleaning Stick. It's only 99 cents. It's great for cleaning the slide rail grooves and other tight spots. Thanks again!
Nutn, Love your vids and have watched about all of them. To each their own on clearing a weapon, but the only thing that still scares me is when you don't do a pinky test prior to the trigger pull. I know a strike of lightning would probably strike you twice bofore an extractor would be broke or a rim not catching, but again i don't like electricity either. Other than that I would like to throw out my great respect to you and your crew and hope to see the great vids flowing.
@mimaki0 Mine was very clean. It has been said that the gold powdery lube from the factory (anti-sieze compound) should only be used for break in. I shot about 250 rounds through mine then cleaned it thoroughly. I removed the gold stuff and replaced it with mobilgrease 28. I clean mine anytime it is shot. I know people say its not required, but my G26 is my carry gun. I dont want to take chances with a dirty gun. G30 was on my list of possibles, its just a tad too large to conceal easily
Maybe Im just picky, but I disassemble the slide completely after a trip to the range. It takes a few extra minutes to do, but then you know there is no crud in the firing pin channel, or around the extractor. It also makes it easier to clean the bolt face because the extractor is not in the way. I also like to hose all the parts (including the lower) with degreaser to wash out any powder residue or misc crud. I've always been a little nuts about keeping them clean though.
you should be using rubber gloves 2$ for a box of them, your skin will suck up the sovents and fine metals and the oils and all of those are very bad for you
@SNIPER12431243 well its the solvents that i would be weary of , but with small cuts the very fine metals could as well, but thats just my opinion ask your ASE mechanic if its advisable to wear rubbers when working on parts with things like brake dust and solvents
i just shot mine for the first time and whne i broke it down to clean the barrel i was told to go from the back towards the front of the gun not the other way around. I did not use any of the gun oil though. When i tried to use the metal brush it would not really go into it. I could not screw the barrel up with that could it? it was for a 9mm
@utubecenseorstruth I think I pay something like $9.98 for 50 PMC brand rounds at Walmart and don't have any problems with them at all. I'm starting to think that you could stick ammo crafted out of dog shit into a Glock and it would still fire without even the slightest issue. Clean, dirty, new, old, lubed, un-lubed......it just doesn't seem to ever matter with these guns.
@jwp570 The gen 3 blocks take PMC like a champ. they really take any round I ordered a spam can of some old ammo from cheaper than dirt and not one jam. However my buddy who goes to the range with me uses a gen4 and he had nothing but jams and the empty would not eject properly.
LOL love how he said anal and kept going in and out with the cleaner and he tells us to be clean with the comments just knockin' ya around. great video anyhow i always wondered how YOU clean out the slide on a glock (your very thorough and obviously well informed.
Ive found that compressed air isnt always easy to come by in the field and that a can of "computer air or HFC 134-a is an excellent addition to any cleaning kit for blasting out dust, grime, mud and anything else.
Anti-gun people say guns are dangerous, you can shoot a family member blah blah blah but I think this video and the whole TNP series shows that gun owners are some of the most responsible people on the planet. Not all, but the vast majority are. Thanks for setting such a great example and representing a top notch image of gun owners in the USA.
hey man. like the cleaning vids. i had the option to buy my firts gun and i watched your vid carefully and i bought the "springfield 9 mm with the 4 inch barrell. I ran 300 of the cheapest rounds through it from wall mart . lol and it worked like a champ and is accurate enough for me. I tried the glocks out and i liked them but for the money,it bieng my first legal gun etc etc. i was happy with my purchase. I can always move up but for now im very pleased. thanks again bro.
I've seen many of your videos and they are extremely informative. Forgive me for missing this if you've addressed this already. You mention your duty gun. Are you in LEO Nutnfancy? If so what state? I am an LEO in Arizona Metro Phoenix area and have turned on many of my colleagues to your videos as I find them very informative and well researched. Keep up the good work!
Need Ur assistance, I assembly my Glock & I only put the barrel in the slide & slide on the pistol frame, somehow it got stuck & not come out. Can you advise me how to get the slide off? Thanks.
Need Ur assistance, I assembly my Glock & I only put the barrel in the slide & slide on the pistol frame, somehow it got stuck & not come out. Can you advise me how to get the slide off? Thanks.
nutnfancy, I just put about 130 rounds though my Glock 17 it's only the second time I've shot it, do you think it needs to be cleaned after every use?
nutnfancy,it is the small details like this that add up to make a big difference in the end result. If there is a way or method to do something, I definetely want to see your modus operandi first. You are always on target with everything you do. Dude, a big prop to you, keep it up, and a BIG THANK YOU! Even though you say it is mundane, I still trod my way thru it, 100 percent.. thanks nutn for everything
Very strange. I've been checking your vids out for the last 2+ years almost on a daily basis and I've never seen this until just today. Seems like this has happened before with the way youtube organizes your channel page...or maybe I'm just going crazy? I like HOPS #9 too but it has dulled the bluing on my Sig really bad. Maybe it's just Sig? I've seen a lot of guys Sigs with really dull looking slides.
I like how you are not biased to your view on "this is the only way to clean a gun".
you show your system and that's cool. I was actually curious to if I should grease up some of the parts where the slide moves on the actual gun itself. I always just left it normal. thanks for great videos.
This video just goes to show you it does not need to be as difficult as some others have made it look. Along with all the "products" others peddle. Whatever works for you, works for you. HAHA! Keep up the good work.
You missed lubing the most important part of a Glock to lube, which is the little nub on top of the trigger connector bar that sticks out of the rear of the fire control group when it's in the frame. You can run the entire pistol bone dry, but that nub should be lubricated. There's a simple 1st grade rule 1-2-3: 1 Drop on the frame (that nub), 2 Drops on the barrel (outside, lug), 3 Drops on the slide (each rail and flat part that rides the barrel). It's all explained in the Glock manual.
i bought some of that butchs bore shine to clean a bargain Mosin i picked up, the bore was just FOUL. I dont think i ever will get it 100% just not gonna happen
anyway that shit smells like jetfuel, and in fact it has jetfuel in it. The fumes are just to much to do indoors.
ole hoppes i can do fine with a window open, in fact i like the smell of hoppes
Once again, Great help. My Glock skill builders trainer was impressed by how I knew this.
I appreciate it :D

Did anyone else notice that this video is exactly 19:11 long? So then why is nutnfancy cleaning a Glock instead of a Colt - LOL!

Hey Nutn is it necessary to clean an out of the box new handgun before you shoot it?
KaikuPen 1 year ago
@KaikuPen It doesn't hurt but always lube it.
timmyjunior1 1 year ago
@KaikuPen It is a good idea, just to make everything is in working order, the bore is clear and it is well lubed.
Kylef7735 1 year ago
@KaikuPen I would. Just so you know it was done and done right.

Other than that I would like to throw out my great respect to you and your crew and hope to see the great vids flowing.

there was a chamber check at the beginning, also i am pretty sure that the gun cant fire with no slide or barrel installed. be safe not rediculous

hey i just got a brand new g30, how often should i clean it? is it ready to shot out the box without cleaning
mimaki0 1 year ago
@mimaki0 Mine was very clean. It has been said that the gold powdery lube from the factory (anti-sieze compound) should only be used for break in. I shot about 250 rounds through mine then cleaned it thoroughly. I removed the gold stuff and replaced it with mobilgrease 28. I clean mine anytime it is shot. I know people say its not required, but my G26 is my carry gun. I dont want to take chances with a dirty gun. G30 was on my list of possibles, its just a tad too large to conceal easily
rb2112002 1 year ago
Maybe Im just picky, but I disassemble the slide completely after a trip to the range. It takes a few extra minutes to do, but then you know there is no crud in the firing pin channel, or around the extractor. It also makes it easier to clean the bolt face because the extractor is not in the way. I also like to hose all the parts (including the lower) with degreaser to wash out any powder residue or misc crud. I've always been a little nuts about keeping them clean though.
rb2112002 1 year ago
after that, you don't have to clean it for at least 1000 years
dieHoelzer 1 year ago
Good Grief man, you use so much fuckin' oil that you'll have to clean the thing all the time from attracting dust.
SageSofa 1 year ago
you should be using rubber gloves 2$ for a box of them, your skin will suck up the sovents and fine metals and the oils and all of those are very bad for you
zenmasterofslack 1 year ago
@zenmasterofslack wow ive never thought of that ur saying the fine metals can go inside you along with the oil?
SNIPER12431243 1 year ago
@SNIPER12431243 well its the solvents that i would be weary of , but with small cuts the very fine metals could as well, but thats just my opinion ask your ASE mechanic if its advisable to wear rubbers when working on parts with things like brake dust and solvents

AK47METALLICA 1 year ago
i just shot mine for the first time and whne i broke it down to clean the barrel i was told to go from the back towards the front of the gun not the other way around. I did not use any of the gun oil though. When i tried to use the metal brush it would not really go into it. I could not screw the barrel up with that could it? it was for a 9mm
utubecenseorstruth 1 year ago
I only push my brushs and coton swabs from the chamber throu the barrel and not backward!?!?!?

i never knew cleaning a gun was so intense i thought just apply a bit of lube and run a brush thru the bore i swear i learn so much

Good point on managing your solvents and lubricants. Careless application will undermine your efforts every time. Good Video!

what is the best cheapest target ammo to use so i can learn to shoo this? i just bought my first. Great video
utubecenseorstruth 1 year ago
@utubecenseorstruth I think I pay something like $9.98 for 50 PMC brand rounds at Walmart and don't have any problems with them at all. I'm starting to think that you could stick ammo crafted out of dog shit into a Glock and it would still fire without even the slightest issue. Clean, dirty, new, old, lubed, un-lubed......it just doesn't seem to ever matter with these guns.
jwp570 1 year ago 21
@jwp570 very true...practically cleans itself. but if i bought one for 500-700 dollars.....im cleaning it o.o

Is he using a nylon or phosphor bronze brush?
stekrirade 1 year ago
@jwp570 russian ammo always jams my friend's glock
AdverbAdjective 6 months ago
@jwp570 The gen 3 blocks take PMC like a champ. they really take any round I ordered a spam can of some old ammo from cheaper than dirt and not one jam. However my buddy who goes to the range with me uses a gen4 and he had nothing but jams and the empty would not eject properly.

Enjoyed the video. Good info. I find it ironic that the total time for the video is 19:11 and you're cleaning a Glock, lol.

will it scratch the barrel of the glock if you clean it with the phosphor bronze brush.

LOL love how he said anal and kept going in and out with the cleaner and he tells us to be clean with the comments just knockin' ya around. great video anyhow i always wondered how YOU clean out the slide on a glock (your very thorough and obviously well informed.
Ive found that compressed air isnt always easy to come by in the field and that a can of "computer air or HFC 134-a is an excellent addition to any cleaning kit for blasting out dust, grime, mud and anything else.
thanks

I can always move up but for now im very pleased. thanks again bro.

nutnfancy, I just put about 130 rounds though my Glock 17 it's only the second time I've shot it, do you think it needs to be cleaned after every use?
cheeple 1 year ago
@cheeple
No it does not need to be. :)
There are plenty of people who go over 1000 rounds before a complete cleaning, and I promise doing that to a Glock will be 100% OK.

That's actually a pretty good idea bout gluing the Rem Oil bottle. I'm not sure if it was it hot glue or rubber cement?

nutnfancy,it is the small details like this that add up to make a big difference in the end result. If there is a way or method to do something, I definetely want to see your modus operandi first. You are always on target with everything you do. Dude, a big prop to you, keep it up, and a BIG THANK YOU! Acid7Ibanez 1 year ago
