Oil companies are just as guilty of short sightedness. With the billions upon billions of dollars they've made, they could be putting a great percentage into R & D. But instead they put it into the stock dividends and buybacks. The percent of profits allocated for this practice has gone up from just 1% in 1993 to 30% in 2000, to 55% this year. That's not forward thinking or helping this country. It's now, now, screw the future. I care about my kid's future and my grandkids'. Do you?
