I have same problem, the phone does not know where I'm touching it, when i click on an app icon that's an other one that opens, same thing happens with the keyboard, the letter that shows up is not the one i touched...is it a had or software issue? nexus one 2.3.4
I have exactly this problem with my Nexus One. Periodically, touching the lower half of the screen registers much lower than where I'm actually touching. Locking then unlocking the screen fixes it, but I hate that it happens at all. I see you posted this in January, have you ever found a fix?
@manonthedollar yeah I'm also used to locking and unlocking my Nexus One to fix temporary this problem. There is no fix. HTC's screens are not that good
@pkoicetr On the Nexus S, I don't have this problem. And both have Android 2.3.4. So I think it's a hardware problem. I send less and less sms because of this. That's very annoying. By the way I'm waiting for the Nexus Prime :-)
this happens to me sometimes just in general cases such as typing or opening apps, were i touch is not what is opened or typed and it does usually go for the lower area of the phone weeeird and anoying have to restart my phone to fix it which is hard seing how when i press the off button on the screen it seams to select the home button frustrating ey...
hey has anyone tried outputting audio via aux or some kind of 3.5mm jack to stereo? when I try that it randomly plays songs and changes songs randomly and just overall random... it weirds me out
@IggyPiggy23 It is because your N1 supports track skipping and controlls through the audio socket. For that you need a 4-ring 3.5mm audio jack like the headphones included (they have those play/pause etc buttons).
BUT with certain normal (3-ring) audio jacks, the spacing is just a bit off so the slightest movement can trigger the controls of the 4-ring jack and start jumbling around your entire playlist.
Used to happen while I was driving, freaked me out to no end :p
haha thanks mate... i kinda thought it was something to do with differently made jacks so I wasnt far off lol... and yea driving while playing music drives me mad when it does that especially when i have more than one music player app so they play on top of each other as well and using task killer to kill them they jst start back up :P
im glad its not jst me who got this issue.. the nexus one still has some growing up to do i think
@IggyPiggy23 A generally easy fix for me was to put a 1 sec silent mp3 as playlist in my default music player, and just keep using my other music app. But it actually stopped happening shortly after I used that fix. So maybe the audio jack has 'worn in' if that's al all possible.
I have this exact same issue. I'll post a video of mine doing it next time it happens. I have the unlocked nexus one shipped over to england. I haven't used any screen protector. I seem to get the issue after a long period of no use and the phone is quite cold, then once I use it for a while / reboot it warms up and the issue goes. Let me know if you hear anything regarding getting this issue fixed (i hope it doesnt require a phone recall!)
maybe this happens because of the sensitive buttons, (would be an explanation why it happens only on the lower portion of the screen). HTC Desire just has hardware buttons, maybe theres no such problem?
I have this same issue on my Nexus One. I see that same line along the bottom. If I soft reset, it's not a problem. (Also tried leaving it for a while and when I tried again it was fixed). Wonder if it's software or hardware?
I also just read a report of someone with this issue on AT&T version of Nexus One. So it looks like it's not just the Tmobile version.

I think the screen protector that I applied was causing the issue on my phone.
