I remember when the Screamin' Eagle opened in 1976. It was themed to the Bicentennial. It was also the tallest, longest, and fastest coaster in the world at that time. The first year, you had to get a special ticket just for this ride (no extra cost though). The tickets were just to control the crowds.

People often waited in line for 3 or 4 hours to ride it. It was the first coaster I ever rode, and in its heyday it was glorious. It's a shame how it has been allowed to deteriorate.

I have been on this ride many times as a kid and I remember looking at the wheels on the cars and looking at the tracks and thinking, "how the hell does this work?"

The Boss is another great woody we have here at St. Louis.
