Sorry, but cannot agree that Hughes should have been the lead. Coverdale has him covered for this kind of song. Hughes didn't hit his peak until the 90's IMHO. Best DP line up that NEVER happened was Balckmore, Lord, Coverdale, Paice and Glover.

@andresihotang Yeah, I know - radical old me. I'm not saying that Gillan is worse, just that I prefer Coverdale's bluesy voice compared to Gillans scream. Gillan was perfect for the Mk2 songs, but I couldn't see hime delivering Mistreated, You Fol No-One, Sail Away or Love Don't Mean a Thing. Same as Coverdale not being able to do justice to Mk2's catalogue (mostly). Each to their own, I guess.
