I'm not trying to sound like an ass but it is Montreal Quebec not Montreal Canada. You would say that the Devs are from Concord United States of America would you? No they are from Concord California. Sorry it is just a pet peave of mine. Othere than that It is cool to see this show I only have finals on tape and or DVD.
@sonicide1 The devils do!!! There are a lot of Canadians marching with them throughout the years!!! Including the championship years !!! So why don't you pull your head out of your ass and check to see that just because you guys live in the centre part of north america does not mean that you are the centre of the universe.
I marched with the Cavaliers that year but have never seen the show as it was in Montreal and not televised in the US. Can you tell me where you got this? I have only seen the DCI Midwest show from that year.
@ZXROMEO : Bridgemen tied with Spirit of Atlanta for drums that year (Spirit was a Float line then) Float didnt come to Devs until 1982.... its very apparent that Devs had a weak line until the Float years.
No time like a drumline feature to suddenly cut to the color guard. Sheesh - it's just like the PBS footage! Still, it's really cool seeing this. I'd like to see the Scouts too - love their opener that year.
I was one of the baritones who marched that year. The lead soprano soloist you speak of was none other than Larrie Dastrup. Larrie more recently has been with the SF Renegades. I am honored to be his friend. He is one truly cool dude.
My high school music teacher played with the Blue Devils during this show...... I remember him telling us about this particular show once.

That drum solo was, um, unique. Tried to be progressive, but didn't quite make it.
