  • Lol, I thought it was KFM ...

  • totally missed the kick at about 1:15 lol

  • the problem with a choreographed fight is that its just that. if you really want to learn how to fight. boxing and wrestling. youll be able to handle yourself standing and on the ground. and as far as fighting someone with a gun or knife, if you were half a moron youd know better. just walk away. or run

  • Thumbs up if youre here because of BATMAN!

  • dont argue about techiniques....1 techniques is more effective than an arsenal if u can put everything uve got into it. also its better to kno some thing than nothing at all

  • The best fighting is to GTFO away from the situation.

Avoiding fights on the street at all cost is the single best tactic

    ~Bas Rutten

(a guy who has been in more legit shit than anyone on this board or in these videos would know)

  • This wouldnt work against a mma fighter or a kickboxer cause these techniques were meant to be used on the streets against thugs, robbers, killers e.t.c

  • wicked but could do with some musick in the back ground

  • avivit ^^ scary lady. got a cute kid tho. like 2 yrs old now?

  • This is bullshit. No real attack and you never gonna reakt this way.. How do i know this? Check out some real (knife) fights.. nobody acts that way because the attack doesn´t show the attack and never hits one time and then waits for the counter.

  • @joergus maybe if you actually took a single class in krav maga you would know what you are talking about, regarding the reactions and they are simply demonstrating the techniques here, not going full speed/contact, meaning that they do not show you the years of repetitive training, trust me, we are trained (over and over again) to block several attacks, however, the faster you stop your opponent, the smaller the chance is that you will be stabbed, thus, one attack = block + counter!

  • the km instructor from fight quest :D

  • you cant compare mma to Krav until in mma they allow multiple opponents, fighting at a weight disadvantage, fighting with an injury, fighting with your kids in the ring, letting your opponent have a weapon, beginning the fight when you've already been hit or stabbed, having no prior indication to the fight, having a major disbalance in skills, allowing bites, gouges, knives, bricks, bats, multiple opponents and hard concrete floors. KRAV RULES

  • What's with the bowing and Gi's in Krav?

  • MMA wont help you in a life or death combat situation. It is a sport and was not designed for devastation but rather, for earning points in a controlled environment. Krav, Keysi, Silat....those will serve you much better on the street or in a hand-to-hand combat situation.

  • i like Krav Maga and from alot of the techniques shown in this video there isnt much that the style of traditional jujitsu dosnt use and with the battons we use them to strike and joint locks as well there gun work is good but can be better :) that said very good techniques :D and a great style

  • Let's all hope our opponents stand still for us as well...

  • Most fight styles eg boxing are built on fighting in a rythim eg 1,2,3,1,2,3 ie block, punch, punch, block, punch, punch

KM doesn't have a rhythm its all about defending and attacking at once eg 1,1.5 ie block and punch, groin immediatly after.

Of course other styles you can do alot of damage but very likely takes many years to master where KMs are simple moves but powerfully effective and I guess it is why the Isreal army uses it as the soldiers don't have 15yrs up their sleeves to perfect it!

  • I agree, styles such as boxing, MMA etc works on rythm 1,2,1,2,1,2,3 ie block, punch, block punch, kick etc

Whilst Krav is more 1,1.5,... ie block and punch at same time, then immediately after knee to groin etc

Krav moves are simple but powerfully effective and I guess it is why the Isreal army uses it as although other martials may be effective as well but soldiers do not have 20 years up their sleeves to master it.

  • Good to see Professor Avivit Cohen in action

  • isn't this the girl from fight quest? She's pretty sick, I give her that.

  • Yes!

  • this is not KFM!

  • Some training in how to spray mace effectively would probably defeat most krav maga and MMA types, no? Also, the gun defense in krav only works in close quarters. Any assailant with half a brain would simply shoot you at ten paces. And with knives - someone with a knife will wave it at you quickly, he very well may not attack in a linear fashion.

  • Some mace would take out all you guys

  • I am skilled in mma and I feel Krav Maga will help me with reflex. Mma is more of a tempo style of fighting, Krav is more- "all of a sudden". I like the combat readiness of it.

  • @clearcombat nobody cares if your good at mma

  • @clearcombat The reason of the fact that it is combative is the fact that this is what every Israeli soldier learn when they join.

  • @clearcombat check tommy blom mma on youtube. its in swedish, but just look at the vid :P awesum KM fighter kicking the shit out of sum punk in mma

  • Krav Maga is only very useful once you learn what the army soldiers know.

But Combat Sambo is better, type ''combat sambo'' and search it.

  • the woman looks like avivit cohen from fight quest- she'd have to be the last person on earth whose hair i'd ever pull! awesome vid guys!

  • @merkins87

    It is her

  • @merkins87 i think it's her haha

  • @merkins87 It is her, I was only a BIT surprised, but from the show, I knew she was a badass.

  • is this krav maga or keysi?

  • @damaband41 Krav Maga, "KMF" is the "Krav Maga Federation", not to be confused with "KFM", the "Keysi Fighting Method".

  • @damaband41 Chaim Zut Krav Maga. whats keysi?

  • Wow...

  • ALL NONSENSE

let me explain to all the silly dumb as bitches that krav maga is the best way to defense yourself; do they use k1 in army? do they use karate in the army? what about boxing? NO

THEY USE KRAV MAGA, also a lot of special forces are trained with krav maga.

I am a practiser of krav maga, and I also have tried K1, but it ain't the real deal..

  • @yug0style taekwondo is the basis for pt in the korean military and has been for decades

  • @yug0style taekwondo is the basis for pt in the korean military and has been for decades

  • @yug0style taekwondo is the basis for pt in the korean military and has been for decades

  • @yug0style "I am a practiser of krav maga, and I also have tried K1, but it ain't the real deal.. " state the obviouse...K1 is a sport..

  • @yug0style I've been training in Krav for over a year now and I would definitely concur.

  • @yug0style i just joined the milatary they use akido and my older brother was in the army before me he used bayonet training also he was in the marines for a while they used something called mcmap am i correct?

  • @yug0style K1 isn't a martial arts, it's a standup MMA rule-set <.< still, i agree that KM rulez, but armies DO use taekwondo (korean armies) and jujutsu (jap. army). Chinese army uses kung fu that much more resembles muay thai/kickboxing than krav maga. So ur argument is wrong, but ur point is still true

  • @veshkeat ermm i'd like to correct u on that.... the south korean millitary uses a form called TuKong. look it up

  • Bravo Chris!

  • So many want to argue that THEIR style is the most perfect. Use what works for you. I'm pretty sure a kick to the face and a sharp strike to the brachial nerve will drop almost anyone. Walk down the street, and for everyone you see, think, "What would I do if they came at me right now?" Forget all this fighting shit you get wrapped up in. It's about a quick take down. I hate drawn out fights.

  • and what if you take them down and they have a knife or if they have a few friends, now your on the ground being stabbed or getting stomped on by their buddies

  • @omcorc My style kicks ur style in the nuts. Thats also pretty much it all it does, but its usually enough ^^

  • @veshkeat it doesn't matter what style in the end it all comes down to the individual person and luck

  • Well.. Both a world class MMA fighter and a KM instructor would beat the shit out of a attacker. MMA fighters have that explosive attacking (offence is the best deffence) and can spit out a shitload of strikes to the head and get the fuck out of there. While the Krav instructor knows all the hotspots to hit, and how to hit it (but pretty dangourus and you don't want to kill the guy stealing your bike).

  • Krav Maga forever!

  • Come on, basic things still apply.

Beauty is a luxury, simplicity is the key.

When someone comes and point a knife at you, you do not need the finess of Taekwondo nor the shouting of Kung Fu, you just need simple moves of disarming.

  • Hicks Law. Or The Hick-Hyman Law as it is called.

Reaction time = movement time + brain processing time x the number of choices you have squared.

In other for every alternative choice you have in a given situation you increase the reaction time by 50%.

Keep it down to one fundamental if you can.

  • or the simple moves of running away.

  • hi , i have a qustion and dont get it bad , i read alot about kravmaga an saw alot of vids , but in the end i dont see any difference between other Selfdefense systems.

    regards

  • then you know nothing about krav maga.

Do yourself a favor and google it.

  • Other selfdefense systems don't break arms, legs, nose etc. In Krav it's all about hurting your enemy or killing him (because it's the isreal army's deffence system).

If you look at other selfdefence systems og martial arts their more about striking or get your attacker at the ground and get away. Krav is not something you want to use at the street because you can end up breaking stuff, hehe. But the basic prinsiple in the Krav for selfdefence is very good, as long as you don't kill the guy.

  • @SiNdReXXX krav is meant for the street and nothing else, or it would be a sport..

  • avivit... the scariest woman alive

    haha

  • grapple in combat or street you're finished. Unless you've seen or spared w an instructor, you really have NO idea of the speed and effectiveness, Groin, Throat, Nose, eyes , back of head! All with explanation! Close Combat! - Not sport! Easy to comment from the computer, in person it's quite overwhelming. Training is for life n death / to survive. Not points, hence all the groin targeting etc.

  • Silly folks, All vids here get 10 yr old commenting on technique. Fact is unless you stood across form an expert in KM you have no idea about it's speed and effectiveness. GROIN, EYES, NOSE, THROAT, Back o' the Head. In other demo's you'll see massive speed, This was a teaching demo. Much like USMC L.I.N.E training but more cool stuff to learn, less your FR or advanced. This is for a stroll in beirut, Gaza, brklyn, etc for self and family preservation, Grapple on the street u'r done by 2 or 3rd

  • Also in addition to my reply I would say that I dont think Krav is completely useless, as I think the Israelis military who are taught it, and who are in life or death situations, or who have the chance to be in life or death situations, could use it to much greater effect than some guys over in America or England who would never be in the same sort of situation.

  • I'm sorry to see these guys turn Krav into a spectacle. High-kicks? Black belts? Come on, that is useless on the streets.

  • KFM stands for Keysi fighting method. So why is that the title of this video when the techniques are Krav Maga?

  • The best thing about Krav Maga and RBSD is that you can train in other forms of Martial Arts to compliment ur training or vice versa.

  • lol peoples walking ... kkkk

hmm and is good video i can go training krav magá is nice

  • Krav Maga forever ! :) Is the best combat fighting style...

  • One of the main reasons for a belt system (like in most Martial Arts) is to build a persons knowledge of the art and do so in a way where they understand and can build upon. You teach the basics to begginers, once they prove they know those, they move up a belt and are taught more advanced moves. Krav Maga is no different. But, I feel that there is less emphasis on belts in Krav Maga, they do it just so they know what to teach you and so they know what you already know.

  • its not as theatrically entertaining

  • AWSOME\

  • I know about the different KM organisations but I am surprised to see these folks training in Gis, barefeet and on padded floors? And all the bowing... Reminds me of TMA. Anyway they are damn good. (I'm IKMF also)

  • @ yougodhand i dont know if u knew this but ppl can get hurt if u hit them so to prevent this they dont try to kill there opponent. and its all about the technique because if u dont have technique you would just hit away and dont see unprotected areas and such. Hope u think before you blur out stuff

  • I think thats the lady from fight quest lol

  • Hey, isn't that the girl from the Fight Quest episode?

  • Yes, this would work, like im gonna let someone to 30 moves while I stay static in the same position the whole time. MMA is realy self defense. BJJ without Standup is not complete and same other way round, mma brings it all together. krav maga is kind of like watching a hollywood martial arts movie without the finess and believability

  • M.M.A. is sport... this is military killing tactic. If a cage fighter where to attack one of these guys...

  • the MMA fighter would win... quite simply someone who is used to fighting world class fighter in all ranges is going to beat these guys... eye gouge and throat strikes are of no use when the guys has 'read' your movement and has countered with a punch on the Jaw... do you serious think a PROFESSIONAL fighter isn't going to beat a martial arts instructor? Any decent self-defence coach will openly admit they wouldn't, and would say they are only looking to stun and run, not beat the guy up.

  • Alright, so what would MMA's defense be against a knife? or perhaps a gun to the back? maybe even a gun to the side of the head in a hostage situation? What about someone pointing a gun at your loved one while you stand aside? ...

yea... get back to me on that one

  • So you are telling me that if you had a gun or knife pointed at you in real life, you would call upon your krav training and disable him with no problems? Hard to believe. In real life situations there is more emotion and adrenaline flowing, so its hard to say that you could fill somebody in pointing a gun at you when its never happened. I would say an MMA fighter has a much better chance as they have felt the emotion and adrenaline of a real fight.

  • I have thought about this argument too about an MMA fighter having that experience. The only down side of that argument is if you can actually use what you studied in the gym/dojo in a real life situation, you typically use what has the most muscle memory/is reflexive. So for the mma fighter, they don't practice the most important spots on the body to hit so there is a good chance it wouldnt show up in a situation. Also most people who study mma don't actually fight in octagon/ring.

  • the fact that you state a MMA fighter has more chance of surviving a gun treath, proves your a total idiot

  • ...I'm an "MMA fighter", and I train in Krav, and I'm pretty positive I could do just as fine as any other Krav practioner at my level.

I actually think I could do better..

  • @redbull90 the fact that you cant spell threat... proves you're a total idiot

  • @redbull90 i agree MMA is for the ring, Krav Maga is self defence, which doesn't imply anything remotely to do with a ring, if implies the means to defend your self on the street, anyway Krav Maga was developed on the battlefield.

  • @joeyagainst they dont train you to take a gun in mma, because its meant to be a sport, not a self defense system.

  • @mcaball2 And yet an MMA fighter would still kick anyone's ass in this video.

  • @mcaball2 I train in MMA! and my teacher teaches us this kind of stuff as well! like how to fight in street situations! THis is basically hit them in the balls and in the neck, almost any MMA fighter would know to do this, they know more than you think, they just cant do this when they fight Professionaly

  • @mcaball2 What does Chuck Norris study?

  • and exactly how does an mma fighter respond to groin eye and neck attack?

  • I agree that static crap is garbage... that's a TMA trick... yeah aliveness is the only way... I agree Krav is a mix of Good stuff and garbage?

  • you are 100% rite yougohand. I teach REALITY based self defence (defendo) any art with a belt system is just training bruce lee wannabees. check out bob spour its more realistic and the sort of stuff I train in

  • i agree with u completely if u tried anything in this video u wud get beat up, stabbed or both... it just doesnt look effective. also knife defense is overrated and done badly u will end up worse

  • lol i can see you have never trained Krav maga before

  • There are rules in MMA lol......which make it that much less effective.

  • man i'm late geting into this. I train mma, it is a damn good art for self defence in my opinion but krav maga is designed and trained to end a fight asap without rules. This is a demo. I've seen krav used in unscripted stuff at a demo and i can assure you that for street fighting this stuff is the best.

  • Spoken like someone who has no clue.

Seriously dude, do you think this DEMO is what KM is all about?

  • i respect haim zut and al avi(sorry i dont know how to write her name) she is awsome instructor BUT there are no belts in krav maga... there are only one krav maga invented by imi and certified by israely ministry of defence.. ants its IKMF. I in dont get why this such a effective selfdefence or combat system stick to old japansee paradigms like belt ranking system.

Any way this is GREAT demo they are certeny great fighters and they will kick my ass, no doubt about it :D

  • BonAquak, there is a number of different KM organizations in Israel and abroad that come from the same source that split for some reason and gone their own way, have different version of technics but basically they all are KM. Some of them have belts system. They still are KM. And the guys on the video deffinitely are. And they are good.

    P.S. I'm from IKMF.

P.P.S. And yes, it is Avivit from Fight Quest!

  • no difference whatsoever from Ju Jutzu or Jiu Jitzu.. and the knife defence etchniques are dangerous, they don't controll the kife hand properly, imho.

  • knew that was her

  • Damn

  • 0.48... KNIFE! That guy did not realy want to kill the other one... That "Victim Technique" was great... he would have been killed (most likely)

  • are attackers on the streets suppose ta stand still while we kick punch and grapple them?

  • amirfarid91 the idea is that it should be one hit to finish the fight the reason why they stay almost static like is to train the idea of keep going and beat up the attacker until its safe to run to safety

  • i hate those videos showing 1 attack responded with hundreds of counterattacks. Will real opponents freeze like that and let u do all that stuffs? they will be thrown back at fist counterstrike, anything after that will be excessive

  • yeah... i would love to see a krav maga expert facing mma fighter of any style or even any combat athlete.

  • so would i, it would be a bloodbath.

don't try your sport in the street against a high level Krav. Just don't.

  • not real enough for a demo... too slow. now, almost everyone know M Arts, don't assume that your enemy will fight blindly.

  • Isnt she like one of the best or something, all these moves look like things i would do if i DIDNT know a fighting style lol, go ahead bring me some comments on your thoughts.

  • actually yelling does help. It is important to exhale as you attack, b/c if you get hit you want to have as little air in your lungs as possible, so you dont lose your breath.

  • agreed you should know that if you practice a martial arts

  • it is also a proven fact: yelling while hitting makes you hit harder. They had a martial arts block breaker try to break blocks with and without breathing. He hit 33 percent harder with breathing. It was on sports science.

  • couldent u just exhale or does yelling mentally scare people?

  • It's also to startle the opponent.

  • Static, old krav maga. Some techniques perfomred correctly; others not.

  • This doesn't look like Krav Maga to me. Looks like a little bit of Krav with other stuff thrown in.

But, maybe that's what they wanted to show. Cool vid.

  • Definitely not KFM. Keysi Fighting Method has a completely different look and style than this.

It has similarities to Krav Maga, but it looks like some watered-down, bastardized version of it.

  • I agree....there seemed to me some Jujitsu elements in there. Of course, Krav Maga itself is a hybrid style of self-defense.

  • Muay Thai or Keysi?

  • That woman is a beast.. she was on Fight Quest.. I'd love to see some of these MMA girls go at it with her.. bad news for them.

  • MMA fighters train against each other with real resistance and sparring. Krav training looks more like make believe and they train with very little resistance. Any half decent fighters can protect their eyes and their groin so it comes down to technique and an MMA fighter can crush a Krav fighter in terms of fighting technique. Before you ask yes Ive trained in both.

  • drewski1316:my krav instructor on his instructors course at the end of the exam had to fight 2 ,2 minute rounds no protection anything goes,as did everybody on the course but the guy he had to fight was a pro cage fighter.he didnt get knocked out or lose the fight..i think krav has its strengths on the street as MMA has its strengths in the octagon you cant compare them cause its a different mentality and a different idea to what fighting means:survival or money/championship

    but does it matter?

  • no you haven't

  • i see the woman went for the guys loins...wonder what happens if that's reversed...

  • I've been wondering the same thing for some time now.

  • law suit

  • look at ucc hamburg.

  • Too much memorisation, this style is more complicated than it needs to be and it only gets credibility because it's taught in isreal. Also yelling doesn't make it any easier to apply these in the streets.

  • the first person was on fight quest

  • Hmm as being a Muay Thai boxer i first of all question a couple techniques such as: how they plan on blocking a kick to the body or inner leg. Im assuming just like any other form of MA or Self Defense. Just overall it may work in some situations(such as bar fights and street fights, not saying my MA is better for those than this), but it will definably leave you open to a lot of pain. Which is what most fighters try to avoid.

  • krav maga isnt realy for contest fighting. its ment for defence and to kill your oponent befor they even get a chance to attack. its mostly just attack first kill first.

  • The thing I don't get is, Why do they walk backwards away after dispatching the attacker? Surely you should be looking where ure going, what if they have a m8? Liked the vid though, wicked skills

  • You walk away to secure your own safety, but meanwhile, you will have to notice everything around you, simply by looking around. It's called tactial behavior.

  • That girl was on Fight Quest, and she put one of the guy through pain during training. She is awesome.

  • kali-eskrima would compliment this fairly well...interesting techniques though

  • blackbelts cant fight in the streets or else they go to jail cause of 1 hit kos lol so if a guy wants ur money u have to show him ur a black belt..

  • you fools are crazy and ametuer, of course they give the shit back and back off and let them get up, they are demonstrating, NOT FIGHTING! what kind of comments are those,? do you even know what your looking at? besides, in a fight, there is mroe honor in allowing them to change thier minds after they get up, than in crushing thier skulls and killing someone who may not have even really knew what was going on, and just jumped in, the fact that you know you can win without it, is honor, geez.

  • the lady is evivat

  • Ok, I see a lot of people praise this lady.

So how come her face isn't plasterd alongside Eyal Yanilov?

  • i think thats the one lady from Fight Quest, that chicks hot.

  • I agree. I love that episode.

  • How come I didn't get those snazzy uniforms?

  • HAhahahahahaa, yeah I know. I've been in for awhile, but I got a cool T-Shirt :D

  • lmao can someone please tell me why in everyone of these martial arts vids after you have the peron on the ground stomping the life out of them you back away and go into your funky stance? I see this mess all the time, simply because thats what they are trained to do in the ring after they score a point and here we see how they will do the same thing when thier lives depend on it, they'll stand back and watch the guy get up

  • yeah haha, also in the gun evation thing they automatically hand the gun back, when you're nervous you'll do exactly what you were taught to without thinking twice

  • There is no ring and there are no points scored in Krav Maga, real life situations only. They back away and return to a basic stance, to create distance from the attacker and check out their surroundings for other attackers. Obviously in a real situation, you would get yourself to safety after doing so, but since its only a demo, it would be kinda pointless to run out of the building after every technique.

  • It's better than just walking off completely. Those stomps are typically to the throat or temples, which in MCMAP is a deathblow. It will kill them most of the time. (the other part of the time they'll be in critical condition and won't ever think about fighting again) The extra stand back is just a precaution.

  • great stuff hats off to kmf but for me kenpo is the best way for me nothing aginst krav maga students best of luck to you guys your brother in the arts.

  • Dont let anyone tell you differently--

There is only 1 Krav Maga - Krav Maga Haim Zut

If you want to see the real thing - look for Grand Master Haim Zut !!!!!!

  • Please, anyone before make any comment regardng the video or the lady there, please look at google who is Haim Zut and his background like Xtremelyfatales says is the highest ranking Krav Maga individual in the world and a direct student of the creator Imi. The dedication of this woman (start at 7 years old) and she maintains the essence of the Krav Maga that is real self defense kill or neutralize your enemy in less time possible.

  • you see at 7:02 when she spins around, she gets her body out of gunline, but then pulls the gun up right next to her face, that could be bad if he got a shot off!

  • I hope most of you complaining this isnt krav maga, realize the female in the video is the same one that was on that fight quest show... which was in Israel! Doesnt get any more KM than that.

  • What her name... Avivit something?

  • Mr Guitar Ninja: Just FYI Miss Haim Zut the lady in the video is a Master Authority in Krav Maga, yes she is Jewish is 8 dan and train the special forces of israel and she also is an a student from the founder of the concept, believe me more real, more root, more Krav Maga that the one this lady traing you can't finder anywhere....

  • u know what i find so funny americans are always the first to say something is wrong as if they had a part in the creation of krav maga

  • Krav Maga in the US does not use a belt system as much as Internationale does. Very few dojo's still use the belt test system, isntead opting for a more level-based training. While these are special robes, many dojo's find it fit to ask you to wear and practice in street clothes, since you're more likely to be attacked on the street than, say, walking out of a dojo wearing your robes. :p

  • krav maga is the next style on fight quest (discovery channel) i think its on this week

  • Why is there never any real resistance in a demo or even practice?

  • this dont look much like krav maga im training in israel in krav maga we dont were spiacel cloths or anything just shirts and pants and i got to say some of the things here are less eficint then what we do

  • yeah i did a few months of krav maga and it was in gym shorts and a shirt, and it was more ufc style training than this

  • Its like that in Denmark too :)

  • Sorry, but this not Krav-Maga

  • Wow, in all my studies, I did not know that any Krav Maga classes utilized belt systems and traditional apparel. I've only seen them with everyday clothes or sweats and a badge system at most. Hmmm...

  • i know that most of krav maga tought out of israel dont use belts and it is more tought as a self defence. but it is martial art and if u surch for imi's pics u will see him in gi and black belt.

and as well im proud to say that one of the guys on video was my instructor during my 1st steps, before i left israel

  • I am confused, since when does Krav have belts and gis and all that stuff?

  • Since Ever !!!!

SInce Imi start teacing civilians Krav Maga.

thats wrong if someone teach Krav Maga not as Martial art ....

  • Though black belt? We don't use belts in krav maga...

  • we do in israel, in most of schools apart from ikmf.

  • i feel so honored to say that one of them is actually my teacher.

  • WTF? krav maga must not have a belt system, neither those uniforms with no shoes, they are transforming it into a japanese martial art, that is SOO WRONG. Man, they even salute themselves like karate guys... what the hell?

  • This is Karate, Judo, Boxing, and street fighting combined. Its an insult to asian martial arts to rename it as their own. The disarming techniques are sloppy.

never use your shins to block a stick. it will break your legs. Its better block his forearm holding the stick + do an arm lock throw

never use your hands to block an incoming knife. use your forearm instead to block his forearm + execute a wrist/arm lock throw

disarm a knife/gun after you have control of the forearm.

  • Combination of other martial arts? Yes thats exactly what it is, except it goes further then that. Imi (the created) was a mixed martial artist (boxing wrestling acrobatics etc.) This is not an insult to asian martial arts, it is a practical self-defense syestem/art that has proven its self on the battle field and on the streets.

  • None of these techniques are sloppy, they are realistic. You must understand that the people in this video are actually attacking, and not doing it in slow motion (except when demonstrating afterward). On the battle feild/street, nothing will look good, its not supposed to look good, its just supposed to work, period.

  • If you watch the stick defense again, the guy is swinging the stick at his knees, hense the reason he doesnt block with his arms. He isnt blocking the stick with his shin, his shin is hitting the guys arms/hands, which will definitly work (as do all these techniques created by Imi).

Maybe it is because the camera is too far, or you're just can't see, but none of the knife defenses were blocked with a hand, the forearm always blocks, and the hand grabs the wrist to secure the arm/knife.
