  • @ini32

mgbo0415 responded correctly about the phrase elewe ukwu egbuo ewu. its a sign that he wants to close all deals and marry her.

yes. in some parts he said "igbuola me" and in some he says "igbuo mu e" means the same. the "la" acts as an intensifier thats all:)

and yes, i used "ihe" instead of "ife" in "amazikwam ife m na-eme o"..its a dialect thing. he did say "ife" not "ihe"...both means the same thing.

shebi is yoruba for "isnt it?" or "didnt you?"

  • this song dey hot.....

  • Thank U very much for the lyrics I am grateful!! =)

  • its my pleasure:)

  • @cp2dec Hi cp2dec, can you please translate "shebi" and "egbuo ewu"?

does the latter mean you have killed a goat? If so what does that mean? From my understanding the chorus says looking at your hips you have killed a goat.

Also it says "igbuo mu" versus "igbuola mu" at different parts of the song. What is the meaning of the different phrases, paricularly the meaning of the distinguishing "la"? Thanks for the Igbo lesson.

  • "igbuo mu" and "igbuola mu" r both he same. it's like saying "you've killed me" and You have killed me...hope it makes sense.

also igbo language is spoken with different dialects. example, cp2dec wrote "amazikwan IHEM na-eme o" when the singer sings " amazikwan IFEM na-eme o". it is the same meaning.

  • @mgbo0415 alright got it, but what is "shebi" and what is "egbuo ewu" which havent been translated anywhere on here so far?

    Thanks, cheers!

  • @ini32 shebi is not an igbo word. it is a youruba word meaning 'innit' or isn't it? it's like a question or rhetorical question. shebi u get the point? egbuo ewu means ('kill a goat). The singer is saying 'ele ukwu, ebuo ewu' = 'when u look at the woman's hips you kill a goat'. in tradition, killing a goat calls for a feast; in this case, a wedding. because u only kill a goat for feeding loads of people, u only feed so many people if there is a party...u get the point? or in this case,

  • @mgbo0415 okay! the picture's getting quite clear now!

  • lewe ukwu 2x baby aye ya ya 3x i gbuo mu o verse 1 from look me i look u we exchange our address u come my house eh me i come ur house o our luv come dey grow we begin dey roll babygirl i no fit shout amazikwan ihem na-eme o
  • okay one question left what is mi mma chezi all about, please?

  • it says "Take me, I won't wait anymore"

  • @ini32 Igbuo mu= you kill me, you are killing me (present). Igbuola mu= You killed me ,you have killed me (past)

  • baby mi (my baby)

mma chezi ( i cant wait anymore)

  • 2nd verse

as far as i am concerned

na our love is to stay

    nothing go seperate us

    even ndi osu imi

    baby this is our chance

    lets make use of it

    no fooling around

    lets get it over with

  • thanks pal! but what is the meaning of the Igbo phrases in English?

  • lewe-keep looking ukwu- hips i gbuola(to kill) mu - you have killed me amazikwam means i dont know ihe m na-eme(to do) -what i am doing achorom-i want ifu- to see ndi begi- your people na- that ikwuru- you said ife(things) gi(your) - your things elewe - to look ewu- goat ndi osu-imi - haters igbuola mmadu - you have killed someone
