Science has come a long way in the last few hundred years, because it is in search of the truth. Faith is no answer to anything. Fortunately, I expect humans will continue to evolve, and maybe we have finally reached a point where faith will yield to facts & reality, maybe in the next millennium :)
Again, to refuse acknowledgement of one theory one proves how stupid you actually are. At no point does anyone say in any documentary I've seen that the theory of God is bunk, and to believe it is only proves how little you actually understand.
The bubbles theory actually makes sense when proposed with the question. Why not open your mind a little bit instead of automatically assuming "teh booblez cum frm steem! dat cant not bee curroct!"
Nowadays Stephen Hawking says that the universe does not require a supernatural being or a god to be created, universe spontaneously creates itself out of nothing, universes arise naturally from physical law
Don't blame Hawking, blame this horrible show. There is science to explain how substance might spontaneously generate in a perfect vacuum. It's related to the uncertainty principle. Not that I know crap about it, I just know it's out there.
@Keshin007 u know what i was thinkin the same thing... where did the "bubbles come from and what made the bubbles" lol know what i mean? if they are comparing it to boiling water, who put the water there? who's making it hot? thats just what im thinking... i thought hawkings cameup with a better explination.. im a hawking fan. but this vid makes me feel like it wasnt all his idea... :\
this freaking idiot believes that something was created from nothing(the universe). take a billion, or even a trillion nothings and call me when they turn into something.
they cant because nothing means non existent. nothing cannot equal something. If it does let me know how much money i have when i have none. Idiots infecting people with stupid explanations of nothing turned into something.
That didn't really answer the question about the "before" part. I mean steam bubbles? really? You start off with matter/energy/space/time to make those bubbles. Hell, even the computer image that they showed had the same things. How is the statement "came from nothing" not "intelligent suicide"? But if some one says "God did it" thats not expectable? He stepped past science into belief with that statement. That statement coming from such a brilliant mind is sad.
@miguelfrosales01 The universe came from"something/nothing"(and I use the words loosely) that is non-spacial, non-temporal, non-material, non-energy, and cannot be fully comprehended. To state that it is God is my faith, to state that it is "nothing" is he's faith. Nothing doesn't need a beginning(origin) because "it" isn't temporal, why does God need a beginning if He is not like anything in this universe? Remember time has an origin, its a dimension of space, made from light. Thanks.
Hawking is probably just in the group of scientists that have no interest in what was before the the universe, because they work to understand how universe works and the question doesn't add to it at all, it's a pretty petty question if you think about it.
At the same time, don't start repeating over and over again that "something came out of nothing - we don't know yet" cycle of bullshit. It's like toddlers talking about quantum physics, no matter who wins the argument, they are still wrong.
Getting something out of nothing makes no sense. You get bubbles out of boiling water, which is something. Heat is something, light is something, gravity is something, matter is something, everything is made out of something. The Bible says God created the heaven and the earth where does it say out of nothing Chapter and verse? The universe is not logically explained in the Bible, plants appearing before the sun, moon, and stars, etc. Only six days of creation of the earth, not logical.
im guessing it is something multi dimensional that we can not ever comprehend or observe, something that our five senses would never be able to notice if that makes sense

where did that self repelling matter come from? God started everything, it is beyond human comprehension to fully understand what happened that long ago. Our technology is limited on earth to be able to really know what happened. If the universe is constantly expanding..what is it expanding into?
Ok if I understand your position correctly, the position that we need to take when something has not been explained yet, is to asume that it was done by a supernatural being?.
Let me ask you something, if you say it is beyond human comprehension, how come are you sure of that a supernatural being did it all?.
Thats a childish why to see the universe, is like you still believe in the genie of the lamp my friend. Please grow up.
The universe COULD be expanding into areas of space not yet filled. What I mean by this is that space existed when the universe did not, like blowing up a balloon, it expands into the room.
@CarlosyMonica: you can't really reason with these people. they are hell bent upon believing unseen and unproven god, yet ignore plain facts right in front of eyes. how many times in history have we seen science overthrow and disprove things stated in religion, and these guys have been proven wrong in each and everything they say. yet they won't stop spewing their bullshits. in a way what they do is treason - treason towards science. enjoy benefits of science but don't believe in what it says
@CarlosyMonica , first atheist argued that the universe had no moment of creation just to oppose the genesis in the bible, now it has been prove to indeed had a creation moment, The atheist theorised that nothing paranormally do exist, everything has an erathly explanation,Quantum physics prove them wrong!. So Again and again atheist have been proven wrong so I am sure on the long run they will also loose the batle against the reality of the existence of a god.
@matatan69 You can believe what you want, but stop lying about Atheists please. We are trying to find the cause/reason for the universe, magic doesnt come in to this i.e God
@chingchongwillylong , I wish I could answer your question but sadly the human understanding of these misteries is limited by the complexities we call Extra-Dimensions.
@matatan69 I asked how did god come from nothing, people tell me because he is a supernatural spirit who holds power and energy. I also ask how did the universe come from nothing, the answer in this video is more reasonable than the one given to me by the believers. I think life came from non living elements, rather than a "god".
@chingchongwillylong ,Science do not fully understand what live is about, we don't know how come we are conscious beings, we humans are just scratching the surface of a big mistery so inmense that we can not piece together the complete picture of it, so In my opinion its too early to say that live came fron non living element without being 100% sure. But you and me are 100% sure that our existence is a big mistery product of another mistery , So i stick with the god theory,
@matatan69 I understand what you are saying, but I don't stick with the god theory because there are so many unanswered questions. I want to find a logical reason for our existence.
@chingchongwillylong matatan69 is slightly right. If the universe began who started it? You can't exactly open the lights if you don't touch the switch.
How is it childish? Religion does have massive plot holes and flaws but science is no different. To believe that one is right over the other simply proves nothing more than a lack of intelligence. Science is exploring and accepting both theories instead of closing your mind to one and believing another.
Science has not dis proven God, with the exception of Atheist mono-theories, so to refuse to acknowledge the theory of God only proves how truly ignorant you are.
@snowzknight Hold on, hold on! The crucial difference between science and religion though, is that science is constantly developing the theories based on new evidence. Asking "but where did that come from?" and then automatically drawing the definite conclusion that God made it is the wrong way of approaching it. It's like: "Ok, now can we settle with that God made it, so we can stop researching how the universe began?"
@snowzknight People have always met obstacles and thought "well now we cant get any further, this is as far as science will reach, this (insert particular phenomena) is caused by the Gods or God." And after a while they develop an understanding for it after a while, the phenomena is explained and we use the new evidence to overcome bigger obstacles. For example the lightning, which we explained as being thrown at us by angry gods or fighting gods. We dont directly get all the answers at one time
@snowzknight ,science need to develop. Now the point is, while we can not eliminate the possibility of a supernatural being, although Im sceptical there is anything according to what we know or has been shown until today, drawing the conclusion that God created something cus we dont yet know what caused it, cus we dont yet have the understanding or tech to discover it, is kind of childish. We are on the verge of something, and getting a simple, static idea and sticking to it forever is ignorant.
@brandnew8816 Why does the universe have to expand in to something? Are you implying that their is something outside of the universe, or are you just not thinking? oh, and who made God?
perhaps the universe collapsed unto itself? If the concept of a pendulum isn't too hard to keep in mind, what if the force of the ultimate collapse of the universe is accelerated by universal gravity? Then the speed of collapse would increase exponentially, even beyond the speed of light. The amount of energy when everything collides at a zero point could be great enough to set off a big bang.
@quicksilverAZ: Learn the argument before dismissing it outright. You sound like an uninformed zealot.
I'm sorry for that off the wall comment-the fact is, there are some of us who do believe in God's existence and do not ostracize the scientific community. I will say however, that no matter what, to say there is no God is just as bold a statement as saying there is because we cannot prove or disprove it. But if we challenge the position of Theism, we are still left with as many numerous unanswered questions, what spawned the Big Bang? Where was the outside energy source? How about fine tuning?
to quote: "I will say however, that no matter what, to say there is no God is just as bold a statement as saying there is because we cannot prove or disprove it." Then why do you believe in god rather than the latter. Doesn't it seem pointless to believe in one thing more than another with no proof? "there are some of us who do believe in God's existence" If you are going by that statement you made above then aren't you contradicting yourself if you are saying both are equally valid statements?
I think you're thinking of someone else's quote, I don't recall saying those words. Anyways, check out this cool video if you're interested in physics ("Chances for life in our universe")..
Ok, looks like your right. I just didn't recall saying it since about 5 months have past since I wrote it. I would respond w/ this question, 'How can you prove God doesn't exist?' I believe God exists on faith, but also because of how finely tuned our universe is to support life (1 x 10 to the 126 power). I see far more evidence that would support His existence than against it (I encourage you to watch this video, it's just 7 minutes long). I don't have enough faith to believe otherwise
Stephen hawkings is full of horseshit first of all a newborn baby can't live on it's own without a parent, second of all star dust can't create one earth with gravity for us human's to stay on without being lost in space, also water on earth for the living , also our heart pumps our blood to keep us living and also our 5 senses, also a brain and a skull to protect our brain from getting damaged, our designer is GOD he created matter energy space and time he's the only answer!!! GOD SPEED!!!
This type of comments, explain why the world is like it is right now, the world is still full of ignorance and the worst part is that ignorant people don't realize it, they even use their ignorance of the subject as an argument. Please do not try to explain to someone that is blind to reason by personal choice.
There is nothing like God. God is you. God is your inner bastard and you inner help. so when ur talking to god you are talking to yourself. We invented God to explain things which are just to difficult to understand.
"Out of nothing?" I do not have enough faith to believe that everything that exists in our universe came from nothing. "Bubbles?" What created these bubbles, what would have ever created the force to create those multiple universes? It astonishes me how some will go to great lengths to dodge the deepest theological issue of all, 'God's existence." Could it be the deepest theological question is also the greatest answer to every scientific question we have of the origins of life?
well, as Hawking and the other scientists are smart enough to realise, god does nothing but complicate the matter. It is a bad answer cause it begs the question. If a god created everything, what created that god?
God would complicate that matter if believing in Him was completely oblivious to scientific data and the laws of nature. I am not saying he is unreasonable for not believing in a Higher Being, but that he offers no logical explanation that answers the ultimate question of physics-'what started everything?' Assuming God could turn nothing into something, would he then be confined by the laws that we are bound to? It's a matter of precision, the laws of fine tuning for physics are so precise.
This video might help explain what I mean by the laws of fine tuning-(Chances of Our Universe). It's an interesting video even if you may not agree with it.
have you ever thought that if we didn't exist..God wouldn't exist too? Who would believe him? Planets? Humanity in general is too selfish to see that we came out of nothing. It was to difficult to believe that we came from nothing and that there's nothing after death..SO "we" created god so to answer all our questions and live peacefully, ignorantly untill we die. It's in our nature to believe in higher beings..because we're too selfish and scared to think otherwise.
Of all the alternative explanations for explaining how we got there, this strikes me as the most obscure. I am not critiquing Hawkin's position that 'there is no God.' I am saying his statement, that matter came from NOWHERE is a very unintelligent thing to say coming from a man who is supposed to be the world's smartest. It defies everything we know of the physical and of science-It is IMPOSSIBLE..
With that same logic, it would be equally as impossible for some "god" to exist. To believe that some magical being created everything we know is just idiotic. If this so-called "god" has always existed, why must the universe have a beginning? Or a creation, rather.
I agree with the atheistic mindset that life is precious and that we should savor every second of our lives. Ask yourself though, 'does it require more faith to believe that the universe just appeared out of thin air or that there was an outside source, perhaps a designer to match the intrinsic design that is our universe?'
Honestly, It's more of a complete lack of faith. I don't believe in any type of god, or any religion for that matter. So what do I really face? To put your faith into some being that just existed, with infinite power, infinite knowledge, and the right to judge everything you do is just insane to me.
I understand what you are saying, and I respect your views. But my question was not if we should or shouldn't believe in God, but if the alternative that Stephen Hawkings offers is in line with what we know about causality and modern physics-because the claim he made was that material matter 'just appeared' out of nothing. This is a question of science and it also begs the question-'who or what started everything?' 'how does anything appear from nothing?'
This question is more about God's existence. I was thinking about what you said and if there was a God who created you and loved you, what would be better than knowing Him? I am not talking about religion, but more of a personal relationship. Some people turn to atheism because they think that if there was a God, they imagine Him to be this angry or bitter father figure that only keeps a record of our rights and wrongs and never wants us to have fun-this is not the God I know.
I don't believe in any type of god for the simple reason that it's just unrealistic to me. To have some magical being, that exists outside of time and space...created everything we know, and has a happy place for us all to go after death is just insane to me. Christians say that we have a choice, but what type of choice do we really have? Believe in him, follow his rule..or burn for eternity. I like to consider myself a rational person, and that just doesn't sit with me.

CarlosyMonica 3 years ago 17
The universe COULD be expanding into areas of space not yet filled. What I mean by this is that space existed when the universe did not, like blowing up a balloon, it expands into the room.
philipandsam 3 years ago
@CarlosyMonica this video still does not explain where the matter came from to start the big bang?
silentpimpsmak 1 year ago
@CarlosyMonica: you can't really reason with these people. they are hell bent upon believing unseen and unproven god, yet ignore plain facts right in front of eyes. how many times in history have we seen science overthrow and disprove things stated in religion, and these guys have been proven wrong in each and everything they say. yet they won't stop spewing their bullshits. in a way what they do is treason - treason towards science. enjoy benefits of science but don't believe in what it says
pimezon 1 year ago
@CarlosyMonica He's probably sure of it because it's the first ten words of the Holy Bible. Which God also created.
boshism 1 year ago
@CarlosyMonica Agreed!! Its funny hw people prefer supernatural answers over more logical answer.
duncanng3 1 year ago
@CarlosyMonica , first atheist argued that the universe had no moment of creation just to oppose the genesis in the bible, now it has been prove to indeed had a creation moment, The atheist theorised that nothing paranormally do exist, everything has an erathly explanation,Quantum physics prove them wrong!. So Again and again atheist have been proven wrong so I am sure on the long run they will also loose the batle against the reality of the existence of a god.
matatan69 1 year ago
@matatan69 You can believe what you want, but stop lying about Atheists please. We are trying to find the cause/reason for the universe, magic doesnt come in to this i.e God
FOOFlGHTERS 1 year ago
@matatan69 If god is real, what created him?
chingchongwillylong 1 year ago
@chingchongwillylong , I wish I could answer your question but sadly the human understanding of these misteries is limited by the complexities we call Extra-Dimensions.
matatan69 1 year ago
@matatan69 I asked how did god come from nothing, people tell me because he is a supernatural spirit who holds power and energy. I also ask how did the universe come from nothing, the answer in this video is more reasonable than the one given to me by the believers. I think life came from non living elements, rather than a "god".
chingchongwillylong 1 year ago
@chingchongwillylong ,Science do not fully understand what live is about, we don't know how come we are conscious beings, we humans are just scratching the surface of a big mistery so inmense that we can not piece together the complete picture of it, so In my opinion its too early to say that live came fron non living element without being 100% sure. But you and me are 100% sure that our existence is a big mistery product of another mistery , So i stick with the god theory,
matatan69 1 year ago
@matatan69 I understand what you are saying, but I don't stick with the god theory because there are so many unanswered questions. I want to find a logical reason for our existence.
chingchongwillylong 1 year ago
@chingchongwillylong matatan69 is slightly right. If the universe began who started it? You can't exactly open the lights if you don't touch the switch.

@CarlosyMonica
How is it childish? Religion does have massive plot holes and flaws but science is no different. To believe that one is right over the other simply proves nothing more than a lack of intelligence. Science is exploring and accepting both theories instead of closing your mind to one and believing another.
Science has not dis proven God, with the exception of Atheist mono-theories, so to refuse to acknowledge the theory of God only proves how truly ignorant you are.
snowzknight 1 year ago
@snowzknight Hold on, hold on! The crucial difference between science and religion though, is that science is constantly developing the theories based on new evidence. Asking "but where did that come from?" and then automatically drawing the definite conclusion that God made it is the wrong way of approaching it. It's like: "Ok, now can we settle with that God made it, so we can stop researching how the universe began?"
NoiseSculpted 1 year ago
@snowzknight People have always met obstacles and thought "well now we cant get any further, this is as far as science will reach, this (insert particular phenomena) is caused by the Gods or God." And after a while they develop an understanding for it after a while, the phenomena is explained and we use the new evidence to overcome bigger obstacles. For example the lightning, which we explained as being thrown at us by angry gods or fighting gods. We dont directly get all the answers at one time
NoiseSculpted 1 year ago
@snowzknight ,science need to develop. Now the point is, while we can not eliminate the possibility of a supernatural being, although Im sceptical there is anything according to what we know or has been shown until today, drawing the conclusion that God created something cus we dont yet know what caused it, cus we dont yet have the understanding or tech to discover it, is kind of childish. We are on the verge of something, and getting a simple, static idea and sticking to it forever is ignorant.
NoiseSculpted 1 year ago
@brandnew8816 where did god originate from???
duncanng3 1 year ago
@brandnew8816 Why does the universe have to expand in to something? Are you implying that their is something outside of the universe, or are you just not thinking? oh, and who made God?
FOOFlGHTERS 1 year ago
@brandnew8816 Yeah if we can't explain it it must be God right? Dumbass
Hellblazer311 1 year ago
perhaps the universe collapsed unto itself? If the concept of a pendulum isn't too hard to keep in mind, what if the force of the ultimate collapse of the universe is accelerated by universal gravity? Then the speed of collapse would increase exponentially, even beyond the speed of light. The amount of energy when everything collides at a zero point could be great enough to set off a big bang.
@quicksilverAZ: Learn the argument before dismissing it outright. You sound like an uninformed zealot.

The universe is a mystery, its always has been.

Drooblemeister 3 years ago 2
to quote: "I will say however, that no matter what, to say there is no God is just as bold a statement as saying there is because we cannot prove or disprove it." Then why do you believe in god rather than the latter. Doesn't it seem pointless to believe in one thing more than another with no proof? "there are some of us who do believe in God's existence" If you are going by that statement you made above then aren't you contradicting yourself if you are saying both are equally valid statements?
drewjovi 3 years ago
I think you're thinking of someone else's quote, I don't recall saying those words. Anyways, check out this cool video if you're interested in physics ("Chances for life in our universe")..
Drooblemeister 3 years ago
lol what!!!?
look at the comment by you 3 above looks like you id say it.
?
drewjovi 3 years ago
Ok, looks like your right. I just didn't recall saying it since about 5 months have past since I wrote it. I would respond w/ this question, 'How can you prove God doesn't exist?' I believe God exists on faith, but also because of how finely tuned our universe is to support life (1 x 10 to the 126 power). I see far more evidence that would support His existence than against it (I encourage you to watch this video, it's just 7 minutes long). I don't have enough faith to believe otherwise

It was the infinite overlap of zero-sized space that created the energy!

CarlosyMonica 3 years ago 2
There is nothing like God. God is you. God is your inner bastard and you inner help. so when ur talking to god you are talking to yourself. We invented God to explain things which are just to difficult to understand.
im a atheist btw

universe came out of a thought!!!!!!! Hopkens is god.....every thing exist is the result of a thought!!!!!!!!
sia692 3 years ago
But who thought of it?!.God, Humans or Science.
Edrane66 3 years ago
"Out of nothing?" I do not have enough faith to believe that everything that exists in our universe came from nothing. "Bubbles?" What created these bubbles, what would have ever created the force to create those multiple universes? It astonishes me how some will go to great lengths to dodge the deepest theological issue of all, 'God's existence." Could it be the deepest theological question is also the greatest answer to every scientific question we have of the origins of life?
Drooblemeister 3 years ago
well, as Hawking and the other scientists are smart enough to realise, god does nothing but complicate the matter. It is a bad answer cause it begs the question. If a god created everything, what created that god?
flaskhalss 3 years ago
God would complicate that matter if believing in Him was completely oblivious to scientific data and the laws of nature. I am not saying he is unreasonable for not believing in a Higher Being, but that he offers no logical explanation that answers the ultimate question of physics-'what started everything?' Assuming God could turn nothing into something, would he then be confined by the laws that we are bound to? It's a matter of precision, the laws of fine tuning for physics are so precise.
Drooblemeister 3 years ago
This video might help explain what I mean by the laws of fine tuning-(Chances of Our Universe). It's an interesting video even if you may not agree with it.
Drooblemeister 3 years ago
have you ever thought that if we didn't exist..God wouldn't exist too? Who would believe him? Planets? Humanity in general is too selfish to see that we came out of nothing. It was to difficult to believe that we came from nothing and that there's nothing after death..SO "we" created god so to answer all our questions and live peacefully, ignorantly untill we die. It's in our nature to believe in higher beings..because we're too selfish and scared to think otherwise.
jonymaca 3 years ago
Of all the alternative explanations for explaining how we got there, this strikes me as the most obscure. I am not critiquing Hawkin's position that 'there is no God.' I am saying his statement, that matter came from NOWHERE is a very unintelligent thing to say coming from a man who is supposed to be the world's smartest. It defies everything we know of the physical and of science-It is IMPOSSIBLE..
Drooblemeister 3 years ago
With that same logic, it would be equally as impossible for some "god" to exist. To believe that some magical being created everything we know is just idiotic. If this so-called "god" has always existed, why must the universe have a beginning? Or a creation, rather.
BiTTeRHaLo 3 years ago
I agree with the atheistic mindset that life is precious and that we should savor every second of our lives. Ask yourself though, 'does it require more faith to believe that the universe just appeared out of thin air or that there was an outside source, perhaps a designer to match the intrinsic design that is our universe?'
Drooblemeister 3 years ago
Honestly, It's more of a complete lack of faith. I don't believe in any type of god, or any religion for that matter. So what do I really face? To put your faith into some being that just existed, with infinite power, infinite knowledge, and the right to judge everything you do is just insane to me.
BiTTeRHaLo 3 years ago
I understand what you are saying, and I respect your views. But my question was not if we should or shouldn't believe in God, but if the alternative that Stephen Hawkings offers is in line with what we know about causality and modern physics-because the claim he made was that material matter 'just appeared' out of nothing. This is a question of science and it also begs the question-'who or what started everything?' 'how does anything appear from nothing?'
Drooblemeister 3 years ago
This question is more about God's existence. I was thinking about what you said and if there was a God who created you and loved you, what would be better than knowing Him? I am not talking about religion, but more of a personal relationship. Some people turn to atheism because they think that if there was a God, they imagine Him to be this angry or bitter father figure that only keeps a record of our rights and wrongs and never wants us to have fun-this is not the God I know.
Drooblemeister 3 years ago
I don't believe in any type of god for the simple reason that it's just unrealistic to me. To have some magical being, that exists outside of time and space...created everything we know, and has a happy place for us all to go after death is just insane to me. Christians say that we have a choice, but what type of choice do we really have? Believe in him, follow his rule..or burn for eternity. I like to consider myself a rational person, and that just doesn't sit with me.
