I have downloaded DSMidi Wi-Fi and MID PIpe and have the new AC-7 Core APP on my iPad (1st iPAd). I'm using Studio One Artist for my DAW. I have a Mac OS X. I can't find anywhere within Studio to setup this APP. My APP shows that it in setup for Studio One but I can't get it to do anything. I also went to the APP website to see how to set this up with my Mac but the windows that they use are not on my Mac. hope someone is able to help Thanks...
hey, sorry to ask you here since i didn't get your reply from youtube message. Could you make a review for my game [Let's Spot It] for iPhone/iPad? I can send you promo codes (Lite version is also available)
Hello, I have recently bought an Ipad and I would like to know where to download the special settings for MIDIPIPE? I have looked on the Saitira website but found nothing. Thanks in advance
do you know if connecting it to pro tools is similar? i know the midi setup will be diffrent then in logic i just meen the downloaded software, is that the same?
i use digi 002 and have done over last 7 yrs or so. looking fwd to having ipad for sync hopefully. triggering sampletank and other plug in and sof synths
WOOOOWWW... It's almost like hooking up a touchscreen monitor to your computer, dragging the mixer onto it and then setting the touchscreen monitor for a lower resolution so everything is big enough to manipulate. Almost.
It's smaller. Latency is an issue over wi-fi, especially if your sharing with someone downloading a movie or playing XBox.
It's more expensive. It's not worth it at all when you can buy an Elo touchscreen for $50 to $250 off eBay.
The software is fantastic for my purposes. I sold my Euphonix MC Mix and MC Transport. Don't get me wrong, the Euphonix products are wonderful but this program does everything I need it to with a VERY small footprint and NO WIRES!
@jayrellz Then what would be better is for this device to act as some kind of remote desktop connection. Two fingers to scroll around the screen, and then the rest is touch screen. Perhaps the pinch and spread gestures to zoom in and out and double tap two fingers back to 100% zoom. Now THAT would sell the iPad with ease. Especially that it is going through a low latency wifi connection.
That looks.. Kinky.. To say the least. Definitely will have to invest in an iPad someday. Would be great to have that ability to be anywhere in the studio and have control over the DAW. Great review.
I don't see me use this in my studio.. it's more like... see what i can do.. don't know.. maybe if your on a budget.. But an iPad isn't cheap as well..
@McgregorKLB --- It's not about the iPad itself, it's about the technology behind the iPad, really.. seriously, imagine a whole new live performance system built on this idea.. Don't see it as fancy shit, this kind of thing is the future.
@huesephBut an apple app can't even compare to a dedicated controller like a lemur. The ipad isn't cheap neither. People is so thrilled and excited about anything apple releases that don't realize that there's alternatives already to all of apple gadgets. Just because it has the "bitten apple" logo on it doesn't mean it's better. Besides, a musical revolution? come on! it's nothing new, it's just a virtual remake of something that's phisically available. I't won't improve creativity.
@ThePatouru True. It's not new. It is new for an external device that is otherwise NOT a DAW controller to all of a sudden become one though. For people who already have an iPad, this is pretty cool. For the record I don't think the either are particularly all that great either. I would rather have real faders and nobs. The iPad thing is cool but like the lemur is more gimmick than tool. The fact that this uses wifi is already a big no no.
@hueseph You're right in that if you already have an iPad it's an interesting app. But if I think about it a bit, the whle point of controllers is to handle virtual knobs/ faders /buttons on the software phisically. So having another virtual device is kind of the opposite idea. Besides is another battery to care about, I'd rather have the cheapest (i.e. korg nano) controller but usb powered, and be able to "feel" the knobs for real. But that's because I don't have an iPad ; )
@hueseph Wow, I haven't seen it yet, awesome, I think it's more expensive that my whole homestudio LOL!!! I've bought an Oxygen 61 of the new blue line with which I'm just introducing to the midi controller world and CC numbers and midi cahnnel etc. I'm doing fine though. I'm testing Ubuntu and opensource free alternatives and I gotta say that it's pretty cool. Nice to meet you man
@MaghoxFr Euphonix have smaller units but so far, Mac only. They have been taken over by Avid just recently however so, who know where their future is.

There is a new Pro Tools controller for the iPad which incorporates way more features than any of the others... It's called Pad Tools.
It's a patch for Midi Touch, so you can even copy/paste the sysex info from the faders and buttons and create your own custom controller !
All HUI buttons are available. It was specifically designed for Pro Tools.
Search for it !

TouchOSC does a better job and it costs even less! And Logic 9 comes with native support too... :)
glassyglaze 9 months ago
does MIDI have enough resolution? I really don't like 128 levels, surely OSC is a better thing to be using?
Still, looks perfetly usable, especially in the live room.

The thing about this app is that it requires Wifi. Whearas, most DAWs recommend that you disable Wifi in order to avoid audio glitches.

@MaghoxFr But, how much is a Lemur? Compare that with a $10 app for people that already have an iPad.
