It says there that some trainers spray the elephants down with water and then beat them, so that it hurts them more. These poor animals deserve to be free, not dressed up and beaten.
I can see that this is horrible. But the one commenter is right. We doo way worse things by eating meat everyday.
You also have to remember, that elepants do have tougher skin than us and that they only hit them to train them. Which its still not right to do it as much as they are or even that hard..

Secondly, I bet 90% of the people who commented have no problem eating meat, riding horses, or sitting on leather seats. I can guarantee that those animals are treated far worse than these elephants. Lastly, if elephants only breed when they are happy, how come Ringling has the only sustainable herd of elephants in the western hemisphere?

This is terrible. I used to go to the circus every year and took my kids every year until I joined Peta and found this out. I have not turned back since. I can never again support any circus.

1 of these trainers is really bad and should probably be fired immediately-the fat guy who swears is by far the worst.

All of the other trainers seem very fair (especially the slender Mexican at 1:08). And the tiger trainer is NOT 'severely whipping the tigers,' he does the same stuff in front of an audience.

I went to this circus with my family when i was five years old. At first it was fun, but then i started to cry when the elephants and tigers came outside. Only till i was about 12 did i realize that these sad feelings meant that i had to try to help them. So far im trying with Peta to do all i can to stop this cruelty. Every time i see this i cry, and anybody who dosnt or dosnt feel anything twards this absolute proof is an idiotic person with a heart of stone.

I've been to cattle auctions where beef cows and livestock were beaten way worse than this, yet no one says anything because these animals will be slaughtered for our food. As a long time vegetarian, I am not a fan of Peta. However, when videos like this come out, I am thankful someone is actually making an attempt to let those of us who are not convinced of the way we as humans treat any animal on this planet in any way we want to. The thing I wish those scumbags realized, is that those elephants could have killed them at any moment, within a second, but they didn't....the ELEPHANTS know more about right and wrong then those scumbags!
You've got to figure that Ringling has more money and resources than any other circus. You can assume that they are probably not as bad as the other small outfits. I will never go to another circus.
It's only a matter of time before one of those elephants decides it's had enough and charges at one of the trainers who has mistreated them, then the elephant will be euthanized because it is a danger to humans. It's happened several times.
This is so sad.
I only hope the fact this instances like this are being brought to light causes Ringling to do some serious rethinking of their methods,

1 of these trainers is really bad and should probably be fired immediately-the fat guy who swears is by far the worst.
The blonde guy should be reprimanded and should not be allowed to continue with Ringling after this tour.
All of the other trainers seem very fair (especially the slender Mexican at 1:08). And the tiger trainer is NOT 'severely whipping the tigers,' he does the same stuff in front of an audience.
Can we please refrain from judging an entire company on 2 immature employees?

Your all retarded. This is not abuse, every trainer must do this to get the animals in order. It does not hurt them, it just keeps them working properly. You want abuse? Have them cut the animals open or something. Everyone who says the elephants should kill the trainers should fuck themselves. I went to this circus with my family when i was five years old. At first it was fun, but then i started to cry when the elephants and tigers came outside. Only till i was about 12 did i realize that these sad feelings meant that i had to try to help them. So far im trying with Peta to do all i can to stop this cruelty. Every time i see this i cry, and anybody who dosnt or dosnt feel anything twards this absolute proof is an idiotic person with a heart of stone.

I've been to cattle auctions where beef cows and livestock were beaten way worse than this, yet no one says anything because these animals will be slaughtered for our food. I've seen animals being slaughtered for food. Trust me, it's a sickening and heart breaking thing to witness. I could never kill an animal, but when I buy meat, I know I supported the killing. ;'(

omgosh, tigers and elephants are 2 of my favorite animals in the world, to see them treated like that makes me so angry at them. i'm going to dress up in a tiger costume and have one of my friends dress up as a "trainer" we'll stand on the street and act out what they really do for everyone to see as they drive into the circus parking lot. feel free to do the same

As a long time vegetarian, I am not a fan of Peta. However, when videos like this come out, I am thankful someone is actually making an attempt to let those of us who are not convinced of the way we as humans treat any animal on this planet in any way we want to. The thing I wish those scumbags realized, is that those elephants could have killed them at any moment, within a second, but they didn't....the ELEPHANTS know more about right and wrong then those scumbags!

It's only a matter of time before one of those elephants decides it's had enough and charges at one of the trainers who has mistreated them, then the elephant will be euthanized because it is a danger to humans. It's happened several times.
This is so sad.
I only hope the fact this instances like this are being brought to light causes Ringling to do some serious rethinking of their methods,
