My leopard gecko going crazy for wax worms

I remember the first time i gave my gecko wax worms. He had been eating crickets exclusively so he didn't quite know what to make of the little wriggling things in his dish. So he creeped up to them and gave one of them a lick and jumped back and had this expression on his face that was like "holy crap, you're made of food!". He polished that plate off pretty fast after that.

@Markle6 Wax worms should only be used as a treat however silk worms would make a far better diet then mealworms they are much more nutritious

My Chemistry teacher has 2 leopard geckos in his class, the male looks just like yours but the female is smaller and looks more leopard-like. I think the female may lay eggs soon, yay. But they hunt they same way but with crickets..sometimes the crickets win when they get in the corner cuz the geckos hit the glass tank instead of getting a cricket..poor things...

mate it is not good to feed wax worms in such nunbers to leo's, they should be given as an occasional treat, you will end up with an over weight unhealthy gecko! do your home work, care sheets are freely available on the internet, this is almost crule to your animal!

Alright, the normal gecko tank should be at 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit. My tank is only 70-75 degrees at all times. I have a heating pad and a 60 watt lamp with a 50 watt day and night bulb. Should I get a 75 watt lamp and bulb to have the right amount of temp? Its a 10 gallon tank with a small, 8" by "8 square heating pad on the bottom. Help, I don't want my gecko to die in the first week I got him,

@XIXmarioLXXXIX - Did you buy him at petsmart?(I'm assuming since it's pet smart you are american? If not, and you mean Pets at Home, talk to the staff there for help[some will even tell you where else sells live food!]) If you don't want to ask staff/bought him from a breeder then get in touch with a breeder.

Remember wax-worms are a kind of "treat" only. Feed a few at a time and maybe only once a week tops. As an alternative try meal worms or morio worms(always use tongs, morios will bite!)

awesome i like fat gecko but don't get him to fat or he will be depressed. you are doing to many at once but if you want it fat then you should feed him no more than 2 a day. but if he starts getting very slow then he is depresssed and you need to stop and play for a month or two
