@TheNewAlias As for the comparison with Asian architecture, it's a matter of taste, but worth noting is that the Greeks introduced realistic art to the world (which the Romans dutifully copied). Today this might not be a big deal, but during antiquity realistic art was a huge innovation. Same goes with the Acropolis-styled pillars now featured on many government buildings. Modern-time copying of Greco-Roman art may have diminshed its originality, but it can never diminish my appreciation of it.

The scenery outside of the Pantheon was no doubt far more suitable in ancient times for such a monumental building (open plane, fountains, lots of marble structures, etc). The Pantheon had details, internal and external decorations and coloring which is now lost (same goes for all those Greco-Roman statues we're so used to seeing stripped of their original paint). This video also shows a gray sky and ongoing repair works, which doesn't exactly help...
