Mandarin is the language influenced by the conqueror. Han China was the colony of the Manchurian, Mongolian, and 遼 金 etc for 1000 years.

They were conquered by the small number of Manchus for almost 300 years... It was one of the longest colony in the world. Han chinese were the 4th lowest class in the social system... like slaves...

The Qing dynasty also maintained a system of dual appointments in which all major imperial offices would have a Manchu and a Han Chinese member.
