During the whole time I was watching, Dr. Phil failed to fix any of our family problems and just kept stating how my mom was a bad mom and just kept on bringing up the same thing over and over again. CBS released the video on YouTube, right? So they don't mind giving this guy a platform - using his site's name, if it also helps to promote THEIR programs.
And Dr. Phil acting shocked after the video played reminded me of a professional wrestling show - VERY scripted. Obviously, the host of the show would have pre-viewed any clips that are to be played during his show.

In a sense, it is "exploiting" people's problems. Just by talking about someone's problem is already considered exploitation. But when you hear the word exploitation, we think badly, but really all it means is getting it out there to the public, etc. I personally think that Phil character was angry because his guest had the same hairstyle and Phil took it offensively. By exposing the problems of real people, it helps others identify, relate, or just understand what kinds of interesting, yet surprisingly common, problems people have. @nornironniall - how is it exploitation when these people ASK to be on? They are not "victims". They are adults.
If you feel it is exploiting others, what would you suggest? It is easy to play "arm-chair quarterback" until it is time to come up with the goods.

It can be discribed as exploitation in the same way it is claimed women are exploited in the porn industry.
I don't know why victims has " " round it as I didn't say victims, and i don't see anyone else that has. Saying they are adults isn't an argument as adult isn't the opposite of victim and many adults are victims, or to make it actually relevant to the discussion-exploited.
I wouldn't suggest anything, why would I?

Explotation has nothing to do with the person that is being exploited. Exploitation is someone using another person for their own cause, so that someone would be Dr. Phil, and that cause would be the Dr. Phil show. If they were really trying to help people, they would help everyone, and not just the one's that are the most troubled, that coincidentally boost his ratings. His show picks attendees based off being more successful, and success, is based off MONEY. Helping, is just the business

@TinkerTom56 yes actually. I didn't go on stage but I was in a photo on the show while my mom was being exploited on the stage. During the whole time I was watching, Dr. Phil failed to fix any of our family problems and just kept stating how my mom was a bad mom and just kept on bringing up the same thing over and over again. He fixed nothing and at the end told my mom and grandpa to sort it out.. sounds like a real doctor to me, right?

Exploitation is happening everywhere in western culture an there's alot more hard hitting an significantly more society based than Bum fights. It all boils down to parental control which i'm sure dr.phil's talked about. People make rape sites, and sado masochism and bondage websites. Why doesn't he put those people on the show?
