  • tea cupped good, tea bagged bad

  • I tried this with a cup of battery acid. I am suing you.

  • Great stuff, Steve! I forwarded the IKFF email to my Crossfit instructors-we can always use better shoulder mobility, and this exercise works pretty quickly to loosen up the shoulder joint. THANKS!

  • nice...!!

  • Great simple demo. Love it.

  • WOW!! im gonig to do this nearly everyday. can this be done as a rotator cuff exercise?

  • Steve, do you do any benches?

    Thanks for the answer.

  • This is a traditional Malaysian Candle Dance move.

It was made famous in the west by Richard Feynman who cited it as an example of how knots require a 720 degree rotation for identity (contrary to the normal 360 that we think of as a no-op).

  • I'm gonna try! Can we use coffee?

  • Thank you Great exercise

  • Thank you great excercise

  • Is it better to use Assam or Darjeeling? And do I need SFTGFOP or will OP work as well?

  • @jesusliebtdeinenhund I think for you kerosine is best.

  • great stuff. we show all our clients this steve. thank you

  • I disclocated my shoulder about a year ago. Is this a good exercise to do after that?

  • @themole222 yeah id imagine so. Does your shoulder hurt anymore than it did before the dislocation? usually dislocations arent too bad, my friend dislocated his shoulder in a trampoline accident and again at rugby and he doesnt have any trouble at all with it.

  • God damn

  • cool vid! Steve Cotter is very inspiring..

I purchased his extreme kettlebell series and it was the best investment i have ever made into my own health and fitness!

    thanks for sharing

  • thx for the clip. do you have more exercises for shoulder mobility?

  • Thanks for posting this =D! Out of all the Tea cup videos of Ba Gua Zhang, yours is the best for illustration purposes. This greatly helps =D. This can also be done w/ different variations like: both hands at the same time, almost simultaneously (kinda like one hand is behind a bit before the other), &/or doing the opposites (where one hand does the tea cup going outside, while the other hand is doing the tea cup going inside, simultaneously) =3. Faved =D!

  • you could also go the other way. instead of starting inward, you could begin moving outward. nice work.

  • oooh this one felt nice! a lot of cracking noices comes from the shoulders :D

    i like!

  • i dont know if u try to keep your eyes on the cup at all times but i was taught this is esential.

we also do it from a deep horse to give the waist an extra workout.

  • Any suggestions on progressing this? I am having a tough time keeping my palm up. Do you just do the best you can over and over and trust that eventually you'll be able to do it with a tea cup?

  • Steve, you're awesome! Keep doin' your thang! :)

  • Great stuff, Steve. I like the integration of the shoulder and elbow in this one.
