They called him and asked him to play for them. they released their first album with Aaron, which was the Acts of Desperation album. Or maybe Cries of the Past (one of the 2) but aaron didn't "found" Underoath they were already a band when Aaron joined

I have to say that spencer and aaron made one hell of a team, neither band feels complete without the other. Personally i like the live stuff that that underoath just recently(2009) came out with and aaron was playing the drums. He just has this vibe about him that can't be matched by any other drummer.
