I work every night doing this very thing at the UPS center in Oklahoma--except with labels, that is. Good job HP. I read about these a year or so ago. Not sure if they were HP brand, though. I read that you can put it over the white labeland even barcode and the special ink still leaves the barcode readable. I'm sure it will be one of the technologies that eventually replaces me once it arrives here. Yippee. It's still pretty cool, though.
A bit ironic that FedEx is the primary shipping carrier at HP. UPS should have done some contract negotiations before allowing HP use their image. :-P
its just a imprinter we use them all the time on small packages...but yes the stickers work better makes spotting packages alot easier. This tech has been around a long time. We have been using them in my hub since I have been there.
I have used this system before. It's not as good as our current system that uses the little stickers. Reason is, the ink doesn't show up on all box's. All box's are not white like the one being used in the commercial. This can lead to packages being loaded on the wrong truck.
It's a fantastic idea, don't get me wrong, but we need to make it stand out more, so there is no error in getting the package to the right truck and on its way to it's destination.
Is that hand device real? If so, what a great idea! People are always pressured to recycle and reduce, but companies aren't. Yet, they have a bigger impact on the environment. I'm glad HP is taking these steps to help reduce carbon footprints. It just makes me love HP that more :)
That actor was hilarious in Yes Man

@jbess1985 it would be a good idea to just have a little white box on all the different coloured packaging , then that would work well :)
