  • Im joey from chino hills ca. my good friend steve saldona iwas in the movie la bama birthday party sene with yellow shirt skinny tie & mush stash with lots of hair on his head please tell him to contact his buddy joey thank you..

  • look I am latin & I respect the contribution Valens gave to music period but sorry to say I think its pathetic that The Valens Family use every tribute to Ritchie Valens as an excuse to hog the spotlight, these world class musicians take the time to show up & honor His legacy & perform on a high level cause dude it's not some backyard party! Only the sibling's should appear on stage not the entire clan! Did anyone see the rock & roll hall of fame? The same thing happened LAME!

  • What a lovely tribute.

  • oh man. hard to believe my grandma lives just a couple of houses down from Ritchie's old house! i cried my eyes out when i saw the movie! such a sad ending :"(

  • THIS IS GOOD SHT!! CONGRA.. GOOD VIDEO

  • I love it

  • The music actually never died...

  • check out bob with the cow boy hat lol

  • The Good die young, and assholes live forever............sad to see them go so quickly God knows what would of happened otherwise, music will not have idols as great as these for quite some time.

  • Its a shame that Ritchie valens died at 17 years old!!; it would have been sweet if a teenage boy wrote a song for his girlfriend like he did Donna without it gettin SEXUAL and crazy like these fools today--ugh--

  • who's the blond gringa ? Donna?

  • lool bob looks like Yosemite Sam :D

  • Connie & Irma Used To Babysit Me When I Was Little And Before I Was Born In 1980, Connie (Richie's Mom After He Passed On) Decided To Movie Her Family On Up To My Hometown Watsonville Ca, Connie, Irma And Mario Went To High School With Members Of My Family Witch Is How They Met Me As A Baby, Years Later They Ask Me To Help Do Security At Some Of Their Annual Concerts Here In My Hometown.

  • @whitelion831 Really????

  • Comment removed

  • @wp4le650642. Yep, It Really Is True & By The Grace Of Our Lord And Savior Christ Jesus, Connie, Irma & Mario (Richie Valens Sisters And Brother) Will Always Be A Part Of My Life.

  • Is Maria Elena (Buddy's widow) the lady in the black hat? She's still so lovely.

  • is that his brother at 2:16?

  • boh... boh... boh..bob?

    omg its bob!!!

  • That's one of Los Lonely Boys doing the lead at the start and Chris Montez is with them.

  • Is that first lead guitarist the guy from Los Lonely Boys?

  • @harvey1954 yes they're both there

  • Room for .5 more on stage

  • I grew up watching La Bamba over and over again like most kids did for Star Wars and Jaws! Thanks for uploading this! Really badass getting to see the real Bob-o!!!

  • i think that Ritchie Valens was the first one ever to sing rock n roll in spanish

  • i dont think anyone will ever understand the reasons i love ritchie as musch as i do , his music has got me through ups and downs , if i goto heven i will thank him .

  • i cant believe that thats bob. and this is a stupid questions is that really old lady connie. RIP Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, And The Big Bopper.

  • @CoasterFreak118 Connie, Ritchie's mother, sadly passed away in 1987 and is buried alongside Ritchie in Los Angeles. Bob is evidently still rockin'!

  • @slimymeteor thanx i couldnt find any info on the internet about her. did she die before or after they filmed la bamba?

  • @CoasterFreak118 Actually, she was on set during the production and even has a cameo in the film as a guest at Ritchie's house party. The movie was released in July and she passed in October, so she was able to see the finished product and I'll bet she was very proud.

  • @CoasterFreak118 ...if I'm not mistaken, she had a cameo in La Bamba...check the scene of Richie's coming home party...

  • @CoasterFreak118 The older lady speaking is Buddy Holly's widow

  • @CoasterFreak118 the really old lady at the begining? in the black is maria elena - buddy hollys wife.

  • @CoasterFreak118 I believe that the old lady is Maria Elena Holly (Buddy's wife).

  • The magic was still there 4 days later when I stopped in. We all just walked around, toured the floor, backstage, everywhere. Remarkably, when I walked in, Johnny Rivers' "Poor Side Of Town" was playing, the #1 song the week I was born. I knew I was in the right place at the right time, it was an omen. I'll never regret making the detour up I-35 to Clear Lake & Juhl's field. The experience will stay with me 'til I pass away, & I hope it's one of the last things through my head when I pass on.

  • May this RocknRoll music live forever Rock on!

  • nobody is replaceable.

  • seriously how irrelevant is that -_____-

  • viva ritchie la bamba and mexico !!

  • viva mexico °°!!

  • RITCHIE!!!

  • You know,Somewhere in Rock n Roll Heaven Buddy Holly,The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens are looking at each other and saying what Bernard Edwards said on the last night of his life to his partner Nile Rodgers,He said quote"Man This Music is Bigger Than us".

  • It was great to see Mario (w/ the harmonica) play!

  • no way i been looking for this

  • Buen video..felicidades..me encanta Richie Valens..saludos a su familia desde Monterrey N.L. .........atte...brenda

  • Is it just me or is everyone in that family a lil overweight cuz I know Ritchie wasnt I've seen pics

  • @DrakeLester not that it IS a reason... but have you *YOU*, ever *EVER* survived a devastation like they did? Do you *YOU* have any idea, whatsoever - what depression like that will do to you? My guess is NO! Or you wouldn't have asked such an insensitive, ignorant question.

And... let's remember - Ritchie was only SEVENTEEN years old, and they probably weren't overweight back then either. Let's see where YOU are in 50 years! =) And how many marathons you're fit for.

  • @RosieFbxAk

Doesn't mean they should be like that.

Unless they were depressed they ate alot but however I said A LITTLE.

  • I WILL LOVE TO SEE RITCHIE VALENS SONS IF HE WAS ...

  • How wonderful this was to watch. God Bless the families, friends and fans of these amazing artists. Their legacy lives on.

  • @slimymeteor Pinche Bob still Rocking!

  • I think Maria Elena was a bit too aggressive. This moment was for the Valenzuela Family--and for Mexican culture--not to disrespect Puerto Ricans but she had no place up there.

  • amzing!!

  • God Bless Los Lobos!!!! I have sttood upon that historic stage wher Buddy, Richie, and JP stood. It is hollowed ground to be sure. God Bless you all for keeping the spirit of the Surf Ballroom and the music alive for all of us.

  • Ritchie desde los cielos se que bailas tus cancione.s.

  • we will miss you ritchie T.T

  • Un buen momento,en memoria de Ritchie Valens.Un saludo y abrazo a su familia, desde España.

  • no offense but this should have been the original song by Ritchie played over... they should have kept the original program played over IN ORDER as tribute and added their own stuff later. These are only covers.. not the talent.. the talent is gone, sadly. I'll never forget.

  • Wow, you will never see anything like this again.

    This is epic.

  • isnt that Los Lobos?

  • Yes. It is Los Lobos, who did the soundtrack for the movie, La Bamba.

  • Listening to their music, you'd hardly ever remember that they're gone. Sometimes you even wonder when they'll make their next album.

  • yes, bob was in the leather jacket , and cowboy hat.

  • Amazing video! It does make me wanna cry but it's awesome! Ritchie, Buddy and the Bopper forever!

  • i retract my statement...audio...and who are THOSE other "family" members? AKA "hangers on" to discredit BOB?...His BROTHER...Um...Yeah he WAS!!!! Ritchie's soul lives on forever....for ETERNITY...!!!!!

  • ritchie had 2 sisters those are his sisters. I am glad you retracted your statement , but in reality you did some pretty harsh damage by not thinking.

  • k...what happened to the video with Bob?...who are these other a holes trying to run the show....i mean really show some respect...my grandfather would have been ashamed at how these Mexicans were acting...so would Ritchie!!!!

  • those people you call a holes are ritchie valens two surviving sisters, and Bob is the guy with the cowboy hat and leather jacket.
