I always seen both sides of this. I think Meredith and Anders both had good intentions to start with. However, both ended up doing evil. I think a lot of the game would generally make you feel bad for mages. However, much of the game is spent fighting evil mages and magic users. Although , the Templars may look evil now - I am sure when we eventually get to see Tevinter - it may change people's perspectives.

@olympian15 i sided with the templars, look at what free mages do turn to blood magic look at anders prim examples of them needing to be kept away from others i do agree the extremes in kirkwall were not needed but what can you do they carry a dangerous weapon with them 24/7 and if they dont want to be locked up they do themselfs no justice by saying we had no choice but to turn to blood magic, its just fucking crap lol i knows its a game just giving my opinion :) sorry!

@nyphix4321 well the reason why anders is doing all these things if you listen to the dialouge he says that the spirit of justice (who you actually have follow you around in dao awakening) absoloutly hates templars justice hates templars so much that when you do the quest to get anders he takes direct control of anders (mass effect 2 reference) and just abolishes them so when the templar lady and the mage dude were arguing justice was like screw these hippies and boom chantry gone

Ander's murdered the Grand Cleric when all she wanted was peace between mages and Templars and he killed her to make a point?...

@1Lanavis1 The point I'm trying to make is I have nothing against mages, I think they're cool. What I don't like is people brandishing all Templars as evil, corrupt monsters when there are members of the order who live to protect the innocent and genuinely care for mages. I don't like abusive Templars like Meredith who give the order a bad name. I don't think ALL mages are bad but the danger blood mages put people through can be heartbreaking. Look at what happened to Hawke's mother for example.

@bandaifan1 I think its the last mission of Act 2 where aveline and isabella will be in ur manison arguing about the relic and two elves converting to the Qun. This leads up to the ariskock attacking the city.

This really is Hawke's song, no matter what they chose to do, Hawke is buffeted by all these forces, that killing an Archdemon won't fix.

That is probably the biggest flaw: Hawke is not the one making great acts for the betterment of the world around them, reacting, not acting. Merrill & Anders have goals, even if they mess up, they are trying. The class mechanics are better, but plot and character arcs aren't as satisfying. Not easy is fine, but dead ends abound for multiple companions.

I dunno, that Templar scene really gave me chills. It's one thing to see the people we can identify with: elves, mages, templars, knights, etc. band together to battle evil orc-like monsters, but it's quite another thing to see humans/elves ripping each other to pieces like the knights and mages did at the end of this game.
