@sjm8890 I understand the need of scientific research. However, the way they conduct research is barbaric. There is no need to instill fear in the test objects. They could have used tranquilizers or anesthesia. Also computer simulation can reduce unnecessary testings. What they are doing is not science.

How can they ever possibly simulate all the infinitesimally complex biochemical processes and interactions that scientists hope to study in the first place, in order to see if treatments work? I do wish that the use of animals could be reduced and refined. One possible solution comes w/ animals containing human material, more human-like tissues with genetic engineering. It would really refine and reduce the use of animals in research.

I think scientists would get more accurate results from conducting clinical trials on humans rather than conducting experiments on non-human animals.

There are social, cultural, and environmental factors that play a major role in the way a disease (or virus) would effect the human body compared to the body of a non-human animal.

The results of animal testing can be misleading, since the anatomy and genetic code of humans and non-human animals differ.

@MissVenom88 Let me preface this by saying I don't agree with what Covance has done. Animals should never be tormented. It is not ethical and not scientifically sound. On that note, yes you CAN compare the results from a test on animals with humans. Our genetic makeup and protein composition are similar and these tests can provide insight in how these drugs interact in a biological system possibly preventing a catastrophe. Please do some research before posting. Your opinions are not fact.

Also, yes maybe they're testing new solutions to diseases MAYBE, but this people don't really care if the monkey is feeling the knives cutting through his skin or how a rough tube is being force down this trachea.
