What I took away from Paul's video was not so much that he wanted to be absorbed into the collective biomass, but that he didn't think it was enough to get left alone, that being a part of society means being listened to and having your needs considered, just like everybody else. It's not right that we scramble to pacify the religious but nobody gives two shits about offending atheists. It's not nearly as bad as it could be but not good enough either.

Live and let live is ok in some circumstances, for example, I don't and shouldn't care what clothes other people wear. However, when it comes to fundamental aspects of reality and morality, such as "Does Allah want humanity to murder homosexuals?"

At that point, a nation needs to agree. A democracy can't put genocide of a fair portion of its population to vote and expect the election to be respected at all.

Another point we need to agree is that science is going to be taught to all children.
