they are just places you go to depending on the life you lived, till your time is up then you return to earth to live a "better life" by hopefully achieving enlightenment to avoid being reincarnated again (THAT MUST SUCK.) buddhism believes in 5 realms where rebirth takes place and one of them is the many hells (maybe there are different levels of hell) and they also believe in demons because asura (one of the places that rebirth takes place) is full of antigods, demons and lowly deities.

catholics believe in the trinity and the death and resurrection of jesus but are not classed as christians. hinduism is a mixture of monotheism, pantheism and all the other theisms and like buddhism also believes reincarnation takes place till one develops their soul to reach godhood/ enlightenment. hindus believe in heaven and hell, but not as eternal places

i think we used to be perfect, but then as humanity evolved true knowledge of our origins and true spirituality was hidden from us (as some theories claim), through programs like xtianity and other monotheistic religions. muslims dont believe in jesus as the son of god but as a prophet and therefore do not accept the concept of redemption of sins by death on the cross, but just one god whom they pray to, and are very monotheistic.

The bottom line is how did cavemen all a sudden start building pyramids, with languages, and astrological knowledge of distant planets, galaxies, etc. For instance the Dogon Tribe in Africa knew knowledge about the Andromeda galaxy, and depicted one of its solar system's perfectly before Nasa did. "the Bible" was redorded by many many people and contains a lot of real historical information.
