@brownmachine6969 i agree the car is bullshit lol what kind of super sport has a measly 200 horsepowers ??? lmfao where did the other 150 horses run off to since the 1970s monte carlo???
Have you tried the Magnaflow mufflers WITHOUT the RESONATOR on?
Just wondering because I also own a 2006 Monte Carlo SS,BLACK AS WELL, and have been debating on if I should buy the Magnaflow full cap-back exhaust system but it's pretty PRICEY!
mad717, You probably already answered this question somewhere but looking for exact sound on 04 monte carlo supercharged. Could ya give me more info on price and part # and where ya purchased. Thanks man
GM's park gear rev limiter set so low, isn't such a great thing for these exhaust videos...I don't know why they did it unless people are starting to fall asleep behind the wheel with their foot on the gas..
I actually have the 5.3 LS4 06 monte carlo.. and even with it being a v8 it gets great gas mileage bc the active fuel management shuts the 8 cylinders down to 4 when u r cruising i get about 26 highway not bad for a "gas guzzler" :)
no, an 01 ss has a 3.8l v6 (200hp). later on they had a supercharged ss in 04-05that made around 240hp. The restyled and last production in 06-07 like the one on the vid did have a 5.3l v8 making 303hp, odd on a front wheel drive
Don't want a V8? The only reason I can see someone prefering a 6 cyl is for gas mileage and there's still not much difference there. I have an 03SS and I'd give a lot for it to be a V8 and rwd. My V6 has 200hp but is quick off the line. The V8's are 305HP and sound so nice. My car sounds like those stupid tuners. Despite that, there are other advantages to owning an 03 over an 06 or 07. One, obviously is cost. The older ones (01-05) look a lot nicer, especially from the front.
The 2000-2003 Monte Carlo SS comes with a N/A 3.8 V6, 200HP. The 2004-2005 Monte Carlo SS comes with a supercharged 3.8 V6, 240HP. The 2006-2007 Monte Carlo SS comes with a N/A 5.3 V8, 303HP. Personally I prefer the V6 SS, more upgradable.

A front wheel drive LS7....Why not just flush a few paychecks down the toilet? Same effect....except a toilet flushes faster than ANY modern Monte Carlo can hit 60 mph.
Indeed it is, 3800 V6's that can produce over 800HP. Although I hear they do make a turbo charger for the 5300, although it costs close to $5,000 and I'm not sure how much it puts out.
yea there is and it puts around 450 hp to the wheels on a dyno! Pretty incredible but for the price its not worth it. Also take into affect that the tranny is going to just 'love' the added power. So you're going to want a HD tranny as well.
HD trannies for the 3800 are sorta worthless in my opinion. They have 2.93 gears versus 3.23 for the regular 4t65e, so the regular is faster. And the HD trannies only have a few extra strengthened parts, not enough to survive 300HP plus engiens. You'll need a fully custom built race transmission to handle that power. If you get around to it, check out ZZP's 1997 Turbo GTP runs 1/4 in 8.65 seconds.
I was actually talking about the LS4 turbo kit. But the trannys in the LS4 and Series III 3800 are almost identical, besides a FEW strengthened parts. Way to go GM you put a 6 cylinder tranny in a V8....yeeeaaa!! Oh and yea I saw that GTP it is wicked fast. I think they hold the record for the fastest FWD car ever?? Later
Hes right especially if it has a blower on top of the 3800. The LS4 has a small market when it comes to modifications, I know I have a GP GXP. It sucks.
i got the 2004 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged and i just install my new A3 Mufflers... And it sound hellah bad!... sound really deep!...i'll post it on....Sound hellah tight!

miss the monte's but i mean dude putting a vid of your magnas isnt really that impressive considering a lot of people have them. you could of just shown us a pic really.
I got a 2006 Impala SS with the same exhaust it makes a noticeable difference over the stock exhaust I also have a KnN air filter I had them both installed at the same time and it's not corvette fast but I beat alot of cars in the street with my impala...50K miles and two transmissions later I still get excited about driving it...
i love the rumble. U mind me asking how much u paid? I have a 07 SS its one of the last 2000 made. I'd like to put that on mine. oh by the way do u run super (94) in it?
You have to have the car tuned, or buy a tuner and do it yourself. Voids the warranty if you are caught, though. You can do some neat things with tunes, though.
@idr0psh0tk1dz You call mad717 a kid but then you use the expletive "fucking retard" as an unwarranted insult, so who's really the "kid" here....YOU... obviously.
not his fault our monte's 06/07 dont rev higher than like 3k rpm when siting in driveway so we cant wake the neihbors im guessing or something like that
didnt mean to post twice, the nsx was the only jap car i owned/co owned that could keep a 150 plus top end for long periods of time without breaking down or getting hot, im gonna post my aurora on a video here shortly, as i am new to this type of technology
I have a 95 olds aurora, autobahn package, cold air intake and full exhaust cats, no muffler and a chip. I have owned some jap cars myself 323 gtx, rx8,shared a 91 nsx with a freind. and american- taurus sho, 96 saleen mustang. American cars can hold and keep the top end. I can talk, I ran my aurora in a cannonball run type race>brand new 350z's were about 15 min behind without leaving the first state, I was hanging with porsche viper crowd. I came in 6th out of 100.Son i am a million miles away
I have a 95 old aurora, autobahn package. There is one thing American V8s have that jap cars dont, unless its real modded, top end and the ability to keep it. I can talk here boys cause im old school, 84 mits starion my first car. Owned many cars taurus sho, 323 mazda gtx and 626 turbo and rx8, and a 1988 5.o mustang. America is built on the highway system, top speed and the ability to hold and drive it matters. I also drove my 95 aurora in an a grey area cannonball run, came in 6th, out of 100.
ricer? im telling the truth, why you getting all mad cause the facts are what they are? cant you admit that japanese motors outperforms american cars these days pound for pound? my 3.2runs the 1/4 in 14.19 @ 270HP its on record with just a CAI on the 3.2 it can run a 13.8 out of a stock 3.2 4 door family car. your chevy 5.3 V8 303 HP wont even do that. something is wrong with chevrolet engineering. dont worry honda and toyots arent posting losses like chevy, ford and dodge are every year. :)
funny how ricers always are the ones to throw shit first. this video isn't a display of speed anyway, only sound. and a heads up, acura is made in america retard. either way you wanna talk motors lets hook your 3.2 to my 99 chevy 5.7 350. pound for pound you make more power but i make more power period.
typical american.. lmao! 5.7 to beat a 3.2 cmon man hwo silly does that sound well my engine is alsmot twice your size and only put out 60 more hp. Acura assembled in american and japanese owned. your american cars per MSN are 40% built inother countries... get with it. so technically i drive a american car why you dont?
ha ha 40% MSN eh? i'm sorry for being a stupid american, can you explain what MSN is for all stupid americans to know? by the way where are you from, you say "typical american" alot suggesting that you aren't from america. oh yeah my 99 chevy K1500 Z71 5.7 final assembly in texas, engine and tranny built in indiana, so the only thing left is the radio which happens to be made in georgia. wait i forgot the computers! ok japan can have that one. whoopty fuckin doo
plus i'd rather buy american and contribute to my country. and japanese cars have never really suited my needs or tastes. yeah they are good cars but not for me. so in my mind they are the best cars. like i said pound for pound you make more power but i make more power period. there is not replacement for displacement.
You make some interesting points about your 3.2's performance. My '06 Monte with a 3.9L V6 only puts out 242HP, so clearly energy is being wasted by the engine. Then again, I didn't buy my car for its performance; I bought it for its style. As a former owner of 4 Japanese-made cars, I can say that they are good cars, but they're not perfect either. These cars have their share of problems too, especially those from Mitsubishi, Mazda and Nissan, including the popular "Z".
personally i tinkthe 350z sucks, im not a fan of it at all but it is nice, and nice HP for 3.5 liter. ilike the acura TL S2000, RSX, NSX. and othe great cars that are greatly made. a mustang is blah the mach 1 is descent the camaro is a waste of metal with only 300 horses out of 5.7 liters. sad it is mitsubishi is terrabad. mazda is half ford they dont count. imtalking acura, honda , mercedes, lexus toyota, good cars
Put the Flowmaster 40 series mufflers on it and this car would've sounded a lot better, they would've bought out that engine's true profile, them Magnaflow's are too quiet...
You can't rev it any higher than 3,500 in park or neutral in these cars because they have a limiter. I can on mine though (Imp SS) because I got a custom tune with HP tuners.
I just put the magnaflows on my 06 impala ss today. It sounds exactly like yours, but how would it sound if I had the factory resonator removed, and replaced the empty space with a section of exhaust pipe. I debated at the shop for about 15 minutes on if I should get the magnaflows, or flowmasters. I ended up with the magnaflows. Nice low and deep rumble at idle.
Yes, the exhaust is exactly the same on our cars. Go to planetmagnaflow and use the code theplanet for discount code. For like 650 bucks you can get a complete catback system, with free shipping. It does NOT void the warranty. I did not remove resonater, only mufflers and tips.
ok i read somewhere u just added the mufflers and tips on the original pipes but i going for the whole kit replacement does it matter from the cat down
Only mufflers and tips. Go to Magnaflows website and click on american muscle, hear it, american muscle, and go down to 2006 impala ss to hear what your car will sound like with the whole catback system on it. Yours might be just a hair louder than mine, because I don't have the Magnaflow resonator, which comes in your kit.
I would have gotten the whole catback, if I had known about planetmagnaflow before i had it done. The whole catback system just looks and sounds awesome on these cars in my opinion.
It will be a bit louder than mine, it comes with a different resonator. Shouldn't be too loud, though. If I would have known about planetmagnaflow, I would have got the cat-back too, probably, but since my wife mostly drives the car I didn't want it to be too loud.
how do u guys get the prices so low? (thanks for the discount code btw ($613), if i do get the catback exhaust it will def be from planet.) one more question though, when u install this thing do u need to weld or is it all bolt on?
djcls4, are you trying to get the complete kit, or just the mufflers? I only got the mufflers. A local muffler shop had them in stock, and installed them for $300. I don't know what the power differance or sound would be if the complete kit would be. All I know is that it sounds the way chevy should have disigned it to sound from the start. It is not overly loud, but you difinately know that their is something special on the start end of the exhaust. Now it sounds like an SS.
Yes, the exhaust is exactly the same on our cars. Go to planetmagnaflow and use the code theplanet for discount code. For like 650 bucks you can get a complete catback system, with free shipping. It does NOT void the warranty.
Just checked the SC430 new is 65 G's, are you kidding me? That's almost as much as I paid for my house. I'd have a ZO6 for that, and not much can touch it. This car has rev limiter in park and neutral, btw. When it gets going down the road is when the sound really comes out. This is my wife's car, and the majority of you ricer's better not challenge HER in it, cause she'll smoke your butt, then stop and laugh in your face! For higher rev's it has to be tuned, and that voids the warranty.
we've had Plenty of cars, we have had a 98 Honda Accord, WORST CAR EVER!!!! it only had 15,000 miles on it, when we bought it. It broke down 3 different times before it reached 40,000 miles! but yet we have a 1990 Buick Riveira with 280,000+ miles and it has only broken down twice!! we still have that car and now we bought a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS close to 80,000 miles, Never has broke down. as well as a 69 Charger we had. it had over 350,000 miles. it was still a beast! Wish I woulda kept it
Some crappy econobox?? Who is talking about econobox?
Why don't you compare the Monte Carlo to an Asian coupe with rear wheel drive and a V8, like a Lexus SC430. It would kill the Monte Carlo and would last for 20 years, if you wanted to keep it that long. You'd have to get rid of the Monte Carlo in about 4-5 years.
uh yeah cause if u dont take care of it then u just waised a bad ass car, but if it were a 30 year old or less mustang or any ford than who cares its ford
uh yeah cause if u dont take care of it then u just waised a bad ass car, but if it were a 30 year old or less mustang or any ford than who cares its ford
Once again look at the money difference, both upfront cost and maintenance cost. I have had my 99 Monte since 2000, that's 9 years in Ohio weather. How much is that SC430 and what does it cost to maintain? I could buy 2 Montes and maintain both for the same amount as just the original cost of the 430. But if I was going to spend over 40 G for a car, mine would be a Vette. NO other car on earth has that performance for price ratio. Rear wheel drive is crap in the snow, ask any Mustang owner.
Our first import car was an '89 Accord. I couldn't believe how smooth the tiny 2.0 liter 4 cylinder motor was compared to the LeBaron we just got rid of.
I was young back then and used to drive that car hard and race my friends who drove V6 Taurus's, Spirit's and Olds 88's. That little Honda always beat their ass and got amazing gas mileage. We kept that car 5 years and put 180,000 miles on it. No engine, or transmission problems at all. Not one. My father kept buying Accords after that.
I like US cars a lot but they don't last. We've had plenty over the years but the quality got so bad we couldn't justify them anymore. Too many transmission and general part failures with too few miles put on them.
They're finally building better cars the last few years but I'm afraid it might be too little too late. It will take years to restore people's faith in US Brands. If my 66 year old father has sworn off US cars for Honda's and Toyota's that's bad. He used to ALWAYS buy American.
Read Consumer Reports, they use actual auto owner survey info, you'll see that ALL HONDA vehicles are recommended in their respective classes.
There isn't ONE recommended Mercedes vehicle in any vehicle class.
There are a few GM vehicles, which shows they are getting better and I'm glad about that, but they need to do more.
Building V8 gas guzzlers in a fuel crisis is totally stupid on their part. That's how the imports took hold of the market in the early 80s in the first place.
this vehicle gets around 30 mpg if u can keep ur foot out of it. my grandpas caddy gets around 30 if he would put the right gas it calls for in it. my truck a 99 silverado 4X4 gets 20+ mpgs i would say thats good gas mileage for v8s. and personally i dont want to pay 40,000 dallors for a throw away car just because it gets a little better gas millage then my car
hell yeah man love the new monte carlo and the impala ss thank god chevy finally put the v8 back in them. FUCK IMPORTS damestic 4 life. cheaper to buy and work on and way more reliable.
Being patriotic is as good a reason as any to buy a US built car. But to say imports are less reliable simply because you don't like them is ignorant at best.
All independent automotive research organisations will tell you Japanese cars are, by far, more reliable than domestics - in the short and LONG haul.
If you don't believe that, it proves you are ignoring information that is readily available to you on the Internet and other places.
well i guess i dont know what im talking about when i've owned a couple imports and my cousin has who used to like imports switched to damestics because his honda kept braking down on him and it had less then 100,000 miles on it. i had a two fords with mitsu mortors in them and the trannys went out on both of them
Two fords with Mitsubishi motors? What cars were those??
The most reliable ford Taurus motor you could buy was the old SHO in the late 80's and early 90's with a Yamaha motor. The 3.0 liter vulcan was horribe.
sorry mazda motors but they were the escort and the suposidly 80s mustang replacement the ford prob yeah the SHO was a nice car i liked the 90s one with the small V8 in them but again i've never been a fan of cars from japan i do like some german made cars like the galf GTI 1.8T or the r32 gti or maybe the mk4
Hey pcmr57, The Yamaha 3.8 wasn't even available in the Taurus in the late 80's and early 90's. And since you are craking on the American cars and talking great about the Japanese ones and you make a crack about the vulcan engine in the Taurus being horrible, just so you know, all the 3.0 engines in the Taurus are the Japanese Mazda engines. That includes thew vulcan and duratec
Ever read a consumer's report magazine? If you did you'd notice that all the recommended cars are imports. Also, you might notice that all Hondas and Toyota's are rated the highest in their categories while GM is rated at the bottom, especiall their trucks.
Why do you think Toyota is selling more cars in the US than GM is now? Quality my friend, that's why.
Yes, I read them, and here's a thought on that. The get most of their money from ad dollars - would you like to guess how many ads they have for foreign cars? Also, the next time you take a road trip somewhere look at the cars around you. How many foreign cars do you see that are older than 8 years old? Do you wonder why? Think about it, and you'll see about your "quality" right there. My other 2 vehicles are a 99 Monte Carlo and a 2000 F-150, and they both run just like the day they were new.
It's the USED CAR reviews that are important. That's where the Asian cars clean up. Everybody knows someone that has a 15 year old Toyota or Honda that has 300000 miles and has probably never had any major problems. That's why they're popular. GM, FORD, and CHRYSLER built absolute junk in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. It finally caught up to them. Now they're fighting for their very existance. They brought it on themselves.
How many miles on your cars? Probably only have 30,000 miles.
I don't buy rice. It wouldn't look as good, it wouldn't SOUND as good, and in 25 years I wouldn't be able to get parts for the ricer, if I could even get them now. Reliability is a non starter, GM's are just as reliable as any ricer or foreign car out there.
My car handles curves just fine, and gets decent gas mileage, too, not to mention the fact it will dust the ricer 24/7/365.
Trust me, if I wanted to buy rice, I could afford it, just don't like the taste.
GM as reliable as any import!? HA HA HA HA! WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING???
There is no problem getting parts for import cars, you wouldn't need them Japanese cars anyway.
Your car handles curves just fine? You obviously haven't driven a BMW or Acura.
I'll bet you've never driven an import in your life. You're probably scared to get behind the wheel of an Acura because you know you won't be able to defend US cars afterwards.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if you use statistics provided by JD Powers and Associates, Edmunds, and Consumer Reports you can't help but come to the conclusion that Acura's are superior built vehicles.
I've owned Acura's and BMW's and I think the BMW is more fun to drive but I wouldn't hesitate to get in an Acura and drive across the country. I wouldn't do that with the BMW unless it was well inspected and serviced first.
I have driven imports, they are nice, except for the price. I could buy 2 Monte Carlo's for the price of 1 import. Not to mention, where I live it is a 45 minute drive to the nearest BMW or Acura dealer, so any time you need service there goes your whole day.
Also, regarding service and parts - 2 true stories. A buddy had a Honda prelude, something happened to the engine and it needed a new top end - took 4 months to get it from Japan.
Another buddy just got a BMW. He has taken it back to the dealer to have problems fixed 4 times already, he's had the car less than a year. my wife's boss just got a Mitsubishi 4X4, had to have the 4 wheel drive fixed - goodbye $1500. So please, don't tell me how "reliable" the imports are. All cars have issues, it depends on how you treat them.
As for racist, screw you pal. The people buying all these foreign cars are why the American economy is so messed up today.
Sweet!

MoQuake 2 years ago
no, an 01 ss has a 3.8l v6 (200hp). later on they had a supercharged ss in 04-05that made around 240hp. The restyled and last production in 06-07 like the one on the vid did have a 5.3l v8 making 303hp, odd on a front wheel drive
flyingmako 2 years ago
Don't want a V8? The only reason I can see someone prefering a 6 cyl is for gas mileage and there's still not much difference there. I have an 03SS and I'd give a lot for it to be a V8 and rwd. My V6 has 200hp but is quick off the line. The V8's are 305HP and sound so nice. My car sounds like those stupid tuners. Despite that, there are other advantages to owning an 03 over an 06 or 07. One, obviously is cost. The older ones (01-05) look a lot nicer, especially from the front.

Uhhhhh, no. Look up an LSx series of motors. This motor has tons more potential than the 3.8 terd.
CockYaLegS 2 years ago
The 3800 market for modifications is MUCH larger than the market for the 5.3 Liter V8. That's all I was saying.
Quatermain98526 2 years ago
But LS engines have interchangable parts. You could put an LS7 in there if you wanted to

A front wheel drive LS7....Why not just flush a few paychecks down the toilet? Same effect....except a toilet flushes faster than ANY modern Monte Carlo can hit 60 mph.

tmd963 2 years ago
You are right......although it is unfortunate.
GXPFiend 2 years ago
Indeed it is, 3800 V6's that can produce over 800HP. Although I hear they do make a turbo charger for the 5300, although it costs close to $5,000 and I'm not sure how much it puts out.
Quatermain98526 2 years ago
yea there is and it puts around 450 hp to the wheels on a dyno! Pretty incredible but for the price its not worth it. Also take into affect that the tranny is going to just 'love' the added power. So you're going to want a HD tranny as well.
GXPFiend 2 years ago
HD trannies for the 3800 are sorta worthless in my opinion. They have 2.93 gears versus 3.23 for the regular 4t65e, so the regular is faster. And the HD trannies only have a few extra strengthened parts, not enough to survive 300HP plus engiens. You'll need a fully custom built race transmission to handle that power. If you get around to it, check out ZZP's 1997 Turbo GTP runs 1/4 in 8.65 seconds.
Quatermain98526 2 years ago
I was actually talking about the LS4 turbo kit. But the trannys in the LS4 and Series III 3800 are almost identical, besides a FEW strengthened parts. Way to go GM you put a 6 cylinder tranny in a V8....yeeeaaa!! Oh and yea I saw that GTP it is wicked fast. I think they hold the record for the fastest FWD car ever?? Later
GXPFiend 2 years ago
Hes right especially if it has a blower on top of the 3800. The LS4 has a small market when it comes to modifications, I know I have a GP GXP. It sucks.

I can talk here boys cause im old school, 84 mits starion my first car. Owned many cars taurus sho, 323 mazda gtx and 626 turbo and rx8, and a 1988 5.o mustang. ricer? im telling the truth, why you getting all mad cause the facts are what they are? cant you admit that japanese motors outperforms american cars these days pound for pound? my 3.2runs the 1/4 in 14.19 @ 270HP its on record with just a CAI on the 3.2 it can run a 13.8 out of a stock 3.2 4 door family car. your chevy 5.3 V8 303 HP wont even do that. something is wrong with chevrolet engineering. dont worry honda and toyots arent posting losses like chevy, ford and dodge are every year. :)
pureadrenaline25 3 years ago
funny how ricers always are the ones to throw shit first. this video isn't a display of speed anyway, only sound. and a heads up, acura is made in america retard. either way you wanna talk motors lets hook your 3.2 to my 99 chevy 5.7 350. pound for pound you make more power but i make more power period.
TheFiddlejohn 3 years ago
typical american.. lmao! 5.7 to beat a 3.2 cmon man hwo silly does that sound well my engine is alsmot twice your size and only put out 60 more hp. pureadrenaline25 3 years ago
ha ha 40% MSN eh? i'm sorry for being a stupid american, can you explain what MSN is for all stupid americans to know? by the way where are you from, you say "typical american" alot suggesting that you aren't from america. oh yeah my 99 chevy K1500 Z71 5.7 final assembly in texas, engine and tranny built in indiana, so the only thing left is the radio which happens to be made in georgia. wait i forgot the computers! ok japan can have that one. whoopty fuckin doo
TheFiddlejohn 3 years ago
plus i'd rather buy american and contribute to my country. and japanese cars have never really suited my needs or tastes. yeah they are good cars but not for me. so in my mind they are the best cars. like i said pound for pound you make more power but i make more power period. there is not replacement for displacement.
TheFiddlejohn 3 years ago
by the way those few fun facts were aimed at you pureadrenaline25.
TheFiddlejohn 3 years ago
You make some interesting points about your 3.2's performance. My '06 Monte with a 3.9L V6 only puts out 242HP, so clearly energy is being wasted by the engine. Then again, I didn't buy my car for its performance; I bought it for its style. As a former owner of 4 Japanese-made cars, I can say that they are good cars, but they're not perfect either. These cars have their share of problems too, especially those from Mitsubishi, Mazda and Nissan, including the popular "Z".

You can't rev it any higher than 3,500 in park or neutral in these cars because they have a limiter. I can on mine though (Imp SS) because I got a custom tune with HP tuners.
pimpplaya209 3 years ago

I did not remove resonater, only mufflers and tips.

ok i read somewhere u just added the mufflers and tips on the original pipes but i going for the whole kit replacement does it matter from the cat down
invicta221 3 years ago
Only mufflers and tips. Go to Magnaflows website and click on american muscle, hear it, american muscle, and go down to 2006 impala ss to hear what your car will sound like with the whole catback system on it. Yours might be just a hair louder than mine, because I don't have the Magnaflow resonator, which comes in your kit.
mad717 3 years ago
I would have gotten the whole catback, if I had known about planetmagnaflow before i had it done. The whole catback system just looks and sounds awesome on these cars in my opinion.
mad717 3 years ago
It will be a bit louder than mine, it comes with a different resonator. Shouldn't be too loud, though. If I would have known about planetmagnaflow, I would have got the cat-back too, probably, but since my wife mostly drives the car I didn't want it to be too loud.
mad717 3 years ago
how do u guys get the prices so low? (thanks for the discount code btw ($613), if i do get the catback exhaust it will def be from planet.) one more question though, when u install this thing do u need to weld or is it all bolt on?
djcls4 3 years ago
djcls4, are you trying to get the complete kit, or just the mufflers? I only got the mufflers. A local muffler shop had them in stock, and installed them for $300. I don't know what the power differance or sound would be if the complete kit would be. All I know is that it sounds the way chevy should have disigned it to sound from the start. It is not overly loud, but you difinately know that their is something special on the start end of the exhaust. Now it sounds like an SS.
dlfranklin 3 years ago
im trying to get the complete cat back kit

Just checked the SC430 new is 65 G's, are you kidding me? That's almost as much as I paid for my house. I'd have a ZO6 for that, and not much can touch it. This car has rev limiter in park and neutral, btw. When it gets going down the road is when the sound really comes out. This is my wife's car, and the majority of you ricer's better not challenge HER in it, cause she'll smoke your butt, then stop and laugh in your face! For higher rev's it has to be tuned, and that voids the warranty.

It's the first time in 5 years an American car made the cut.
pcmr57 3 years ago
Our first import car was an '89 Accord. I couldn't believe how smooth the tiny 2.0 liter 4 cylinder motor was compared to the LeBaron we just got rid of.
I was young back then and used to drive that car hard and race my friends who drove V6 Taurus's, Spirit's and Olds 88's. That little Honda always beat their ass and got amazing gas mileage. We kept that car 5 years and put 180,000 miles on it. No engine, or transmission problems at all. Not one. My father kept buying Accords after that.
pcmr57 3 years ago
I like US cars a lot but they don't last. We've had plenty over the years but the quality got so bad we couldn't justify them anymore. Too many transmission and general part failures with too few miles put on them.
They're finally building better cars the last few years but I'm afraid it might be too little too late. It will take years to restore people's faith in US Brands. If my 66 year old father has sworn off US cars for Honda's and Toyota's that's bad. He used to ALWAYS buy American.
pcmr57 3 years ago
Read Consumer Reports, they use actual auto owner survey info, you'll see that ALL HONDA vehicles are recommended in their respective classes.
There isn't ONE recommended Mercedes vehicle in any vehicle class.
There are a few GM vehicles, which shows they are getting better and I'm glad about that, but they need to do more.
Building V8 gas guzzlers in a fuel crisis is totally stupid on their part. That's how the imports took hold of the market in the early 80s in the first place.
pcmr57 3 years ago
this vehicle gets around 30 mpg if u can keep ur foot out of it. my grandpas caddy gets around 30 if he would put the right gas it calls for in it. my truck a 99 silverado 4X4 gets 20+ mpgs i would say thats good gas mileage for v8s. and personally i dont want to pay 40,000 dallors for a throw away car just because it gets a little better gas millage then my car
Americanmusclefan 3 years ago
hell yeah man love the new monte carlo and the impala ss thank god chevy finally put the v8 back in them. FUCK IMPORTS damestic 4 life. cheaper to buy and work on and way more reliable.
Americanmusclefan 3 years ago
thanks, all true.
mad717 3 years ago
Being patriotic is as good a reason as any to buy a US built car. But to say imports are less reliable simply because you don't like them is ignorant at best.
All independent automotive research organisations will tell you Japanese cars are, by far, more reliable than domestics - in the short and LONG haul.
If you don't believe that, it proves you are ignoring information that is readily available to you on the Internet and other places.
pcmr57 3 years ago
well i guess i dont know what im talking about when i've owned a couple imports and my cousin has who used to like imports switched to damestics because his honda kept braking down on him and it had less then 100,000 miles on it. i had a two fords with mitsu mortors in them and the trannys went out on both of them
Americanmusclefan 3 years ago
Two fords with Mitsubishi motors? What cars were those??
The most reliable ford Taurus motor you could buy was the old SHO in the late 80's and early 90's with a Yamaha motor. The 3.0 liter vulcan was horribe.
pcmr57 3 years ago
sorry mazda motors but they were the escort and the suposidly 80s mustang replacement the ford prob yeah the SHO was a nice car i liked the 90s one with the small V8 in them but again i've never been a fan of cars from japan i do like some german made cars like the galf GTI 1.8T or the r32 gti or maybe the mk4
Americanmusclefan 3 years ago
Hey pcmr57, The Yamaha 3.8 wasn't even available in the Taurus in the late 80's and early 90's. And since you are craking on the American cars and talking great about the Japanese ones and you make a crack about the vulcan engine in the Taurus being horrible, just so you know, all the 3.0 engines in the Taurus are the Japanese Mazda engines. That includes thew vulcan and duratec

Mad717-
Ever read a consumer's report magazine? If you did you'd notice that all the recommended cars are imports. Also, you might notice that all Hondas and Toyota's are rated the highest in their categories while GM is rated at the bottom, especiall their trucks.
Why do you think Toyota is selling more cars in the US than GM is now? Quality my friend, that's why.
pcmr57 3 years ago
Yes, I read them, and here's a thought on that. The get most of their money from ad dollars - would you like to guess how many ads they have for foreign cars? Also, the next time you take a road trip somewhere look at the cars around you. How many foreign cars do you see that are older than 8 years old? Do you wonder why? Think about it, and you'll see about your "quality" right there. My other 2 vehicles are a 99 Monte Carlo and a 2000 F-150, and they both run just like the day they were new.
mad717 3 years ago
What the consumer reports mags don't tell you is how reliable those vehicles are when they are used. They focus mostly on new vehicles.
mad717 3 years ago
It's the USED CAR reviews that are important. That's where the Asian cars clean up. Everybody knows someone that has a 15 year old Toyota or Honda that has 300000 miles and has probably never had any major problems. That's why they're popular. GM, FORD, and CHRYSLER built absolute junk in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. It finally caught up to them. Now they're fighting for their very existance. They brought it on themselves.
How many miles on your cars? Probably only have 30,000 miles.
pcmr57 3 years ago
nice V8 motor sound.
Too bad it's a gas guzzler Chevy and can't handle a curve worth shit.
I'd rather have an Acura V6 over that any day.
Better mileage, WAY more reliable, handles much better and looks better and better quality interior.
pcmr57 3 years ago
I don't buy rice. It wouldn't look as good, it wouldn't SOUND as good, and in 25 years I wouldn't be able to get parts for the ricer, if I could even get them now. Reliability is a non starter, GM's are just as reliable as any ricer or foreign car out there.
My car handles curves just fine, and gets decent gas mileage, too, not to mention the fact it will dust the ricer 24/7/365.
Trust me, if I wanted to buy rice, I could afford it, just don't like the taste.
mad717 3 years ago
Ricer? typical racist.
You're probably scared to get behind the wheel of an Acura because you know you won't be able to defend US cars afterwards.
pcmr57 3 years ago
why are you watching an american car then? and don't ever compare shitcura to a BMW, acura doesnt even come close to a BMW.
ebutuoy96 3 years ago
"Acura doesn't come close to BMW"...
I wouldn't do that with the BMW unless it was well inspected and serviced first.
pcmr57 3 years ago
I have driven imports, they are nice, except for the price. I could buy 2 Monte Carlo's for the price of 1 import. Not to mention, where I live it is a 45 minute drive to the nearest BMW or Acura dealer, so any time you need service there goes your whole day.
Also, regarding service and parts - 2 true stories. A buddy had a Honda prelude, something happened to the engine and it needed a new top end - took 4 months to get it from Japan.
mad717 3 years ago
Another buddy just got a BMW. He has taken it back to the dealer to have problems fixed 4 times already, he's had the car less than a year. my wife's boss just got a Mitsubishi 4X4, had to have the 4 wheel drive fixed - goodbye $1500. So please, don't tell me how "reliable" the imports are. All cars have issues, it depends on how you treat them.
As for racist, screw you pal. The people buying all these foreign cars are why the American economy is so messed up today.
mad717 3 years ago
While I'm at it, have you taken a look at how much the BMW, Acura, etc, service departments charge? I'm not rich, sorry.
mad717 3 years ago
