  • has a kind of davy jones feel to it <3

  • Where can I find notes to this song? <3

    I love it.

  • Thomas Newman is brilliant. Just brilliant.

I would say his music is just as good as Hans Zimmer's or John Williams'.

  • This music calm me down and let me think positive

  • I've wondered for years who composed this, when I heard Newman's work on American Beauty I wasn't surprised to discover this was his, simply perfect.

  • Best Part (: 1:53

:33 I Love It To Death'. & The Movie'

  • this is so bitterweet!

I also use this playing in the back round while I draw.

  • i like sunny, violet and uncle monty the most

  • I love the books and this film.

    Y U NO MAKE SEQUEL?

  • Sweet flick! :-)

  • Beautiful song...I think this type of music is the most meaningful

  • 2 Very Unfortunate Orphans have found theirselves here.

  • Very beautiful tone... I can get lost in this tune for a whole day if I wanted (-_-)

  • This Was Beautiful :)

  • @thomas4457 This is *not* Harry Potter, judging by your playlist: harry potter;D

  • @muntoonxt I Know It Should Be Changed To Beautiful Music :) I Love Harry Potter && Thi Movie But All My Potter Stuff Goes In There . && Yeaaah

  • Try playing this with rainymood playing in the background.

  • L. Snicket: 'And just like that, the Baudelaire children became the Baudelaire orphans.'

    Me: 'ç_ç'

    L. Snicket: 'I warned you.'

Me: 'It's impolite to say 'I told you so.' Do you really have to turn the blade in the wound?'

  • the beginning reminds me of the ring

  • wow very well written piece of work, excellent to hear

  • Damn... -3 this is hauntinqly beautiful ^_^

  • i'm gonna get out all 13 books again tomorrow and kill my eyes. I won't regret it because the Series Of Unfortunate Events is Intelligence in a masterpiece. Peace out. I love you Daniel Handler.

  • @PlatypusFevered I agree, I've been thinking about doing the same thing for years. I completed my collection with my Christmas wishes last year so that I could read them again and so that I will have the books for my children to read someday

  • I love Klaus and Violet. ;)

  • does anyone know the name of the song that plays during the main menu of the dvd of this movie?? i've been looking everywhere for it...

  • @missvixenx yes ma'am! I know what it is.

    its called 'Drive Away'

pleasure to be of assistance :)

  • Where can I find music like that?

  • This song gives me the chills. It makes me wonder if it's possible that my whole life was just combinded together and written as a song....

  • THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE A SECOND ONE THAT MIXED BOOK 4,5,and 6 together! And then one that mixed 7,8, and 9 together! ANd finally 10, 11, and 12, then save 13 for it's own movie!!!!! I WISH IT WAS MORE POPULAR THAN IT WAS BECAUSE THAT MOVIE IS AMAZING.

  • ¿Does somebody knows about a song that appear on the end credits of this movie, it's sounds like Hungariand dance No5 By Johaner Brahm? but the movie's song it's a bit fast than Hungarian dance....

¿Does somebody knows how is the name of that song and who's the autor?

  • @daliacflores 'Drive Away' by Thomas Newman, I think.

  • @daliacflores the end credit song is called "Drive Away" but you might mean "the marvellous Marriage", both are by thomas newman

  • @EdgarRazorlip Hi EdgarRazorlip, thank you so much for answer me, you know, those aren't the song that I seek, but let me saying that I found it a few minutes ago!!!, I'm looked it like "Hungarian Dance no. 5 Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events"

Anyways, thank you very much for take a few of your time to answer me, have a nice day xD

  • this song is absolute perfection. :)

  • I wonder what ASOUE would of been like if Guillermo Del Toro directed it?

  • @H0tkebab Or Tim Burton? :)

  • @MusicalFan25

Have you watched Pans Labyrinth? It has a completely different atmosphere going on for it that would work nicely with ASOUE and the narrative style of the books. Tim Burton is overused and I don't think his style (though Gothic inspired) would work as well. The books are steam punk themed and requires a different atmospheric approach.

  • Does ANYONE have the piano sheet music/chords for this???

I'd really, really, REALLY appreciate it, thank you so much. (:

  • Which other movie is this music in? I swear I've heard it before somewhere else...

  • I was watching this the other day, and I just noticed for the first time that when Klaus found the spy glass in the ruins of their him you can see something gold to the right of it with VFD etched on it.

  • i love the bit at 1:05 ma fav bit

  • the should have made a second movie D: I doubt they will.

  • :'(

  • what was the name of the song in the beginning when they were introducing the children?

  • "...And just like that, The Baudelaire Children became The Baudelaire Orphans..."

  • @peacheymee i remember that line from the movie

  • @peacheymee ":..Don't say I didn't warn you." Right?

    However, this song is fantastic.

if I had to choose one of the Baudelaire children, I would choose Klaus.

Also because I'm attracted by the actor! Haha! :D

  • @Mar9810 Me too aha

    I love Klaus so much * u *

  • @peacheymee there is always something-and what my seem like a series of unfortunate events, can really be the start of a journey

  • I love movie soundtracks thomas newman one of the best composers and one of my favourite so beautiful just takes me to a secret place and apart of my mind with different stories

  • The Music Box part really sparks a once dead childish curiousity. Then the strings show you what's really there in front of your eyes. What has accually happend.

  • I thought I recognised his music from somewhere...

  • Who could have disliked this song? Oh wait, Count Olaf and the hook handed man.

  • This song really matches the cover of 'the replacement' by Brenna Yovanoff. If you listen to the music box part while looking at the cover, it gives you a really creepy sensation.

  • It's so peaceful :)

  • luvly .

  • God, I love this film. Which is very unfortunate for me as it is a very depressing film starring unfortunate actors in a miserable script playing unfortunate charatcers in an even more unfortunate world. There's also some bloke called Jim Carrey in it who makes me laugh during these depressing scenes.

  • Thank you for all your comments ^_^

  • Actually amazing!

  • Thomas Newman and Hans Zimmer... greatest composers of the modern day in my opinion. Their music is so hauntingly beautiful.

  • @TheCaptainJade

I totally agree with YOU 100 % !!!!!!! I might add James Newton Howard too !!!!

  • 1:04 to 1:54 needs to be turned into a music box.

  • it's wonderful, discovering that tomas newman has been a part of so many of my favorite movies. thank you

  • Thomas newman: all his music is a spiritual experience !

  • I can't find the soundtrack anywhere on youtube!

  • Oh you have to be kidding me. Thomas Newman music always makes me emotional, and whenever I watch this film, whenever this music comes on I get very emotional. I never knew he wrote it! Musical. Genius. God I love this...

  • Is that tree at the begining the Nevermore Tree?

  • masterpiece.

  • Excelent!!!Je ne connaissais pas CE Newmann!Merci beaucoup pour le partage

  • brings back memories :) I love this melody

  • 1:02-1:53 <333

  • He's been listening to Arvo Part.

  • Beautifully chilling; this song always makes me feel so uncomfortable, and drags me unwillingly back to when I was a young child and playing alone with my dolls.

  • So, god, damn, mystical. I adore that piano piece at the beginning too.

  • what are they waiting for!!!! I read the books when I was 7, The movie came out when I was 9.....i'm 16 now!! these are mine and millions of people favorite child books...we want to see them made!

  • AMAZING! ALL I HAVE BEEN PRESSING IS REPLY ALL FREAKING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think they shoulda made a movie fer every book :/

  • @RawrBuddy24 Its a shame there's no magical tonic that keeps the actors the same age xD

Just think, by the end of the last film they'll probably be middle-aged xDD

  • @RawrBuddy24 yeah but if that happened the actors would grow old and it takes at least a year or so to make a moive

  • Comment removed

  • @RawrBuddy24 I agree with you. It ultimately would have been more convenient to do a separate movie for each book rather than only squishing half of the story of a few books into a roughly two hour movie. At least we would've had the events and stories shown to us in a more organized order. Someone really needs to remake the movie adaption of this series, so those unfamiliar with the book series, will STILL get to know all the details what really happened.

  • @Zimmifer

No need, the first movie was good as is. I'd love to see the same level of effort put in the other 3 movies.

    2nd movie - "book 4, 5, 6" - 3 and a half hours long

    3rd movie - "book 6, 7, 8" - 3 and a half hours long

    4th movie - "book 10, 11" - 2 and a half hours long

    5th movie - "book 12, and 13" - 4 hours long

  • @anythingnew

I mean 4. I'd love to see that Hotel blow up and the boat floating towards the water. That'll probably look cool.

  • @RawrBuddy24 I know....it was cut short.

  • There are 2 people who disliked this music. Do they have souls? We may never know.

  • That was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for putting this up.

  • lLOVE IT!!!

  • I just wish the movie was slightly better and captured the atmoaphere of the books more. This song is perfect for it.

  • @SpearMinti my exact thoughts! ive read the entire series and once the movie came out, i was disappointed ._. not how i imagined it while reading the books! also it was out of order! this song really DOES help create a darker atmosphere which the film failed to do....

  • this music is SOO haunting and sophisticated. to put this in a kids' movie like "unfortunate events" is absolute genius.

  • the beginning piano chords are dissonant and eerily beautiful at the same time, just like the baudelaire orphans' lives

  • that one person who put a thumb down does not understand the purity of this eligent song i just hope that one day they might

  • This song represents how horrible and sad it was when Justin Bieber became famous.

  • @SpEsHaLLLL lmao

  • It's like this song takes you into the movie and you're standing at the Baudelaire mansion, burnt to ashes.Sorta makes you wanna cry, don't you think?='(

  • Does anyone know the name of the tune that's playing from a music box or something when they're looking through the remains of the mansion? I can't find it anywhere.

  • @FakeFaced is it The Letter That Never Came? Sorry if I'm wrong.

  • @asukaze09 I don't think so, but thanks anyway!

  • I wish it was longer...

  • Comment removed

  • The melody of the song felt like I was Violet viewing my burnt home. And crying in a dark corner with my siblings.='(

  • too bad the movie was terrible..

  • hmmmm:)

  • a series of unfortunate events is my fave movie,,, cant remember when it hasn't been

  • @Shadowrider123

it has something of the Letter fur Elise of Beethoven... :)

  • @1:08 it gets creepy hahah

  • 1:04 through 1:54 is the best part ^^

  • This man is soooooo brilliant ! His soundtracks are amazing, really...

  • perfect for the movie!

  • The menu and pause themes in Mafia II reminded me of this.

  • At points, this reminds me of the music in Milo and Otis. I have no clue why, but I love that it does

  • This is actually one of those few songs that really make me cry.

  • amazing..!

  • wen i here this .... i just shutup... (weird)?

  • i luv when the freaky music plays at about 1 minute in. sounds nice

  • the music is so soft almost captivating

    tomas newman <3

    i love this song

it reminds me off things that have happened in my life and makes me stop and think

    <3 thank you

  • The most original score Newman has done. This is one of the reasons why i wish they continued the film series. Everytime i read the books, i can just imagine it on screen.

  • well, i grew out of that emotional shit, and i feel like i almost have no feelings at ALL now. but when i listen to this i feel like an actual person rofl :P

  • Just beautiful. No other way to explain it, beauty in itself. The hardship, pain and mystery yet the glitters of hope, steadiness and love. I may be over doing it, but this song deserves it.

    Mello.

  • I am in love with this music; Expesually from 1:04 onwards. So haunting and yet beautiful <3

  • I'm in love with this music, expesually from 1:04 onwards <3

  • when i listen to this song i remember the dreadful lives of the Baudelaires and yes the story of the Baudelaires is a true one

  • too bad there wasn't movie sequel :/

  • i love this music

  • If I ever reread A Series of Unfortunate Events I'm setting this to repeat as I read them.

  • at 1:04 it starts to sound like something from harry potter.

  • Amazing song, almost sound like a mix between music from Pirates Of The Carribean and 9

  • He communes with angels

  • bannana! or maybe some kiwi watermelon sssuuprreeeezz!!

  • this piece is used in quite a lot of tv shows in the uk these days. i always recognise it and shout "thats from a series of unfortunate events!!!"

lol i love this composition ^ . ^ it brings back so much memories. i read my first ASOUE book when i was about 8 or 9. i got it in the sale. it was actually the ersatz elevator though, i didnt start from the beginning. about a year or so later, i got the whole set and the movie came a year after that. ^ . ^ *sigh* good good memories...

  • This man, undoubtedly, is the greatest and most brilliant contemporary artist.

  • @weldeena I am in agreement with you!! The Art of Music......

  • @weldeena I like Newman very much too. Have you listened to Ennio Morricone? If not, Im sure you will like him. Sorry for my english, im italian. Greetings. :)

  • he is an awesome composer. he's like danny elfman because you can always tell it's them doing the music.

  • "The World Is Quiet Here"

  • This is scaaary!

  • i swear ive heard this off a game ¬¬ like resident evil X or something ¬¬ dammit xD

  • Oh I TOTALLY wanna know how to play this on piano :( <=== because its sadly beautiful

  • i dont know why they didnt make another film

  • I know right! I wanted them to keep going- and finish the series like with the Harry Potter films. Unfortunate Events is one of my ave series!

  • Because the script of the movie wasn't written to introduce a possible sequel.

In other words, while the movie covered the first three books, it rewrote them in such a way that the plot was complete.

  • ikr they did a movie for the first 3 books but didn't continue for the rest it sux

  • The movie didn't do the books justice; I suggest you read them ;)

I mean, the movie was fantastic, but a book always beats the movie

  • @weldeena yeah I'm reading them I'm on the 9th book

  • @weldeena same opinion but it would have been fun.

  • THOMAS NEWMAN ROCKS MY SOCKS............such a ledge if ever ther was!
