  • Dope. You shouldn't be using dyed nectar.

  • I loved this especially the crazy western action music in the background

  • Although no studies have been conducted on hummingbirds, it's been tested on rats and has been proven harmful, Hummingbirds with their high metabolism could easily exceed 10X's the recommended amount set for humans.

  • I can't believe I just watched a video of George watching hummingbirds.....sigh .... I gotta get a life....

  • Nice video but, you seem too close, as the birds are using only one side?

    Take care,

    mrbluenun

  • please leave along to those beautiful birds..

  • LOL! such dramtic music in the background. Like an adventure or something

  • LOL He Was Staring At You For A While XD

  • More RED DYE everybody!!!!

  • This is a riot!

  • what's in the feeder?

  • imagine that guy in you window

  • Poeple feel like they're making a stand for hummers over coloring, that's all.Alot of people say it's bad,but there's no evidence,just opinion.Ever give a child Kool-Aid? I use Perky Pet,lucky hummers.

  • amazing birds

  • I have never seen that many hummingbirds around a feeder before! Are they all Ruby-throated?

  • And jeez, they really started dive bombing ya at the end, didn't they?

  • what is it that they drink?? looks like cherry koolaid

  • It's basically just highly concentrated sugar water dyed red (probably to attract em)

  • oh thanks a lot

  • That was boring sorry but I just don't want to watch some1 looking at birds.

Also I loled whe I first saw george

  • You sure do know the hummers! LOL if ya don't move much they don't care and go for the food! Thanks for caring for the hummers!

  • you sir are killing those hummers. they cant digest red coloring and if they eat to much there colons will get cloged and kill them pleas tell all humming bird lovers this info, and help stop the killing of these wonderful birds!!!

  • Yea ya don't need coloring. You might also want to tell them about not putting themselves into the danger zone as we experts call it. This young man in the vid was extremely lucky he didn't get killed. They have been known to go straight for the temple in some of the most deadly encounters that have been recorded. When I change the water I use a shark suit. You can't be too careful. When I see a man as this jeapordizing his life like this knowing it could create a negative impact for birds.

  • @krrrruptidsoless Wearing a shark suit around hummers?lol I guess you're the expert though. This man is sixty nine years old and should be looked to for advise rather than given.

  • @FruiteBu I wouldn't go around saying the red dye clogs their colons. However, studies on humans and mice have shown long-term issues with red food coloring. More than likely, yes, it is harmful to hummingbirds (to what extent or in what capacity has yet to be determined) and the red food coloring is not necessary. The feeder already has red on it, which is all the hummers really need. I tie strips of red surveyors tape on mine, just to add that extra touch of visibility (clear liquid in mine).

  • It's nice that guy is feeding the hummingbirds, but why is he tormenting them while they're trying to eat? I'm sure they would rather eat in peace. Leave them alone please! :)

  • This guy is chillin hard!

  • lol that comment at then end was classic

  • George...Bless you for feeding these precious birds! Suggestion for easy to make hummingbird food without dye. Get a 2qt. pitcher, add 2 cups sugar, fill 1/2 way with boiled or very hot water, stir to dissolve the sugar, then finish filling with cold water, and stir again. Fill your feeders! As easy as that. You can store any leftovers in the covered pitcher in the fridge. Much healthier than using red food coloring, which is not good for birds. Keep the videos coming.

  • Poor hummingbirds! Eating dyed water is making them reproduce babies with disabilities!!! Use plain water with sugar at a ratio of 1:4

  • I cringe whenever I see dye in the feeders-you are hurting your hummers. They see the red containers a mile away and once they know you feed them-they will come back year after year-from parent to offspring. No need to entice them with red.

  • @kdashy7 Well, it hasn't been proven (yet), so I wouldn't go around saying that. However, human and mice tests have shown some issues regarding red food coloring. It's sad to see that *some* companies producing hummingbird "nectar" still use red dye...and defend their position. One even offered $100 to anyone who could cite research saying it was detrimental. I sent them a good human study, but never heard back. Not surprised.

  • @kdashy7 Lies, goofy person you.

  • Booooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg

  • You're not supposed to get that close to these things- They carry rabies and can poke your eye out. It happened to my cousin.

  • You're a Mary, lmao!

  • My feeder seems to be pretty popular with the local hummers and I have to refill it every day. When I do, before I hang it up I will hold the feeder in my hands for a few minutes. A few of the bolder hummingbirds will drink while I'm holding it. I've even slipped my finger over one of the little plastic perches and gotten a hummer to perch on my finger instead. They are amazing creatures.

  • I wish people wouldn't use red colored water to feed their hummers. The dye can actually be harmful to the birds.

Regular sugar water(1/4 part sugar to 1 part water is enough)

  • i have one good memorie of humming birds they were around all day flying 3-4 feet away they move like lightning

  • cool

  • Nice video, but it is not needed to use colored water , in fact the dyes are considered to be potentionaly harmfull to hummers, why use it and take a chance when you will have just as many hummers without. it.

  • they are so beautiful :)

  • I like to do the same thing, the ones that come here are pretty tame, some of the same ones show up year after year, good video.

  • awesome!

  • aww, how cute! mine look like those..but i dont have that many. and they are fiesty lil suckers too! they dive-bomb each other for the feeder when there's plenty of feeding stations on it. what funny little things ;-) thanks for sharing that

  • Hey I thought that was pretty cool, I never knew you could get that close to them. Even staying still like that, and so many of them. sweet...
