  • I simply love this song. Tjam*

  • fell in love to this song, your gone but ill never forget you jack RIP,miss you like yesterday..

  • Great song, just remembered that the lead singer introduced me to the one & only Nick Drake, for that I thank him.

  • i remember making out to this and others in the 80s in high school. how i would love to go back to that time.

  • Too bad this group never made it big I loved this song senior year in high school- 1986 now i am 44 still love this song! Too bad the group did not make a 12 extended single of this song. I have the album on vinyl.

  • MrVideoman- the Dream Academy did make a 12 inch extended version of this song. It was released in the UK. Check it out sometime. It is readily available on ebay cheap.

  • This came out when I was 20 and it was one of a very few softer tunes that I really liked. I want to thank my parents for allowing me to lay out on the patio on summer Saturdays and just enjoy music, and days off, and girls, and being young.

  • This song shows that Dream Academy were worth than just a "one-hit" wonder. Their debut album released in 1985 deserves to be heard again!

  • I was in L.A. when I heard the song and had to call the radio station to get the name of the song.

  • Wow! I don't realize Nick is so cute and sounds so good in this video:)

  • What an amazing album/cassette. There wasn't a song I didn't like. I would pop my tape in when I drove. This was great cruising music. How I long for those days, too. Thanks for posting.

  • I love love love Dream Academy and everything they ever recorded

  • i love the music its remember the 80s song........

  • classic........what more to say!

  • My daughter was only 2

  • Gosh I was living in France going to school at the British School of Paris when this came out. I went Dream Academy mad. I had the french 12" of this, the 7" piccy disc as well. I didn't know there had been a US single version. Much prefer the UK one, prob because its the one I grew up with. Why, why, why, didn't this band get the recognition they deserve. Well they remain our band in our hearts. peace...

  • Great song and video...brings back so many memories!

  • this song reminds of high school all of my friends some still here some gone, but this song just freezes time i like it , makes you say maybe i should of asked her out!!

  • Their first album really is a treasure trove of luscious pop confectionary.

  • Even today, when I still here this song, brings me into my "happy place"! ; D I remember when I first heard this on the radio, and even seeing them on AB, I had to get the LP, and I also purchased the 45 as well, and played the heck out of both of them! Bought another LP, and then purchased the cassette tape, so I could play it in the car all the freakin time. And to this day, I still play my CD, or play it on my ipod, and drift off to my "happy place" where everything was good and I was young!

  • @deduero yo take me with you only this time i bring the beer w00t :) o btw there is a12 inch version out there. i heard it and was hoping someone would post it cuz i can't find the vynl version. anyone ?

  • @stars7803 Yeah, like when this came out, I was under age(about the beer) ; ) , but I still got into a lot of trouble back then, and snuck into a lot of bars back then too! They didn't seem to card like they do now, poor kids! LOL! I also had a friend who dj back in the 90's and imagine, I went to 80's night cuz it was alot more fun, and he did have that 12 inch version your talking about, but this guy has moved away since then and I know I would have killed to have some of his 80's collection!

  • Oh my, the college era non-rock genre. I had this album and actually met the father of the female singer while travelling in England. Brings back good memories.

  • great song make feel good hallo from mexico

  • great song make feel good

  • Always actually liked this one more than Life in a Northern Town. Wasn't nearly as big a hit, though.......................go figure.

  • @lurch321 Me too. It probably wasn't as popular because the sound is before it's time.

  • I always hated Phil Collins. I was much more underground during the 80s. I considered Dream Academy and Thompson Twins as two acts very interesting and intelligent into music of 80s. They are underrated until today. This song is a very remarkable composition that someday be careful if will become popular through other people. Much music was ahead of its time, but mainstream such as Phil Collins and Sting were always the winners. We must really know that record industry of 80s had emptybrains.

  • Not sure what the diff is between US and UK versions. ...However, this song is even more awesome than "Life In a Northern Town".

  • Still one of my favourite tracks of all time! Simply, ...class! Thanks for this, guys.

  • incredible the title! does somebody know if Dr.Motte was inspired by this song to found the techno love parade 1989 under that name ???

  • This Is Dedicated To The One I Love...

  • sometimes I feel like dancing around a meadow with my shirt half open....

  • @schlabresfan If you look anything like Nick, I"ll be right over!

  • @ottawangel blah hahahahahaha

  • The Love Parade sounds so fresh and vital, it could have been made yesterday, never mind twenty five years ago. This is pop at its sublime best, bursting with sweet melody and exuberance. I can still picture myself listening to it in 1985 on a tape from the radio- the thrill of great pop is just as strong today, for which I am eternally grateful. Just like Prefab Sprout, the Dream Academy were unfairly overlooked in terms of the mass audience they deserved. Critics and fans knew their worth.

  • @eightiessongs

Prefab Sprout are a perfect comparison. But, you know, heck with the masses.

  • @eightiessongs

Ahhhhh 1985.......those were the days. I had a Sony Walkman and listened to my Dream Acadamy tape over and over. Those were carefree days.....no stress...no worries.....

Now I find myself in this upside down bizzaro world of 2011!!!

TSA perverts grope your genitals at the airport....gas is going up up up.....the economy is collapsing....TV is a vast wasteland.....and stupid jerks talk loudly on their cell phones right next to me in the Cinema...

    take me back to 1985

  • @ThoughtTraveler I agree with you on mostly all of your wishes for the good ol' days of the 80s (thought there were many worries in the 80s... nuclear holocaust anyone!), but I disagree about the TSA agents. I'd rather be groped than allow some American born terrorist, whether Islamic or some white dude with an anti government sentiment, to blow me up, along with the plane I am riding in!

  • @ThoughtTraveler I AGREE

  • Still so f***ing wonderful !!! The song breathes lightness & love and everything fits perfectly together : his voice, the instruments, the driving rhythm, the different layers of vocals..... Must not forget to put this on my iPod-favourites-list :-)

  • Still amazing!

  • Such a great song. One of my favourites. :)

  • One of my most favorite songs from the era...I love the 12inch version...still play it regularly...This is such amazing work. Thanks so much!

  • A great song from around summer '86...one of the more interesting things on the dial back then...love "life in a northern town"

  • Great song. Retarded video.

  • I have been a fan of The Dream Academy since the first time I heard them on the radio, it was perfect music for my teen hormones. Still listen to them, unlike a lot of other music I listened to in the 80's, got them loaded up in my IPOD

  • this song brings back memories.i saw them live on american bandstand back in 1986.

  • I will always love this band for being a vital & dedicated part of the neo-psychedelic movement of the mid-80's (along with other bands like Rain Parade, Plasticland, Ride, The Real People...) For those of us old enough to remember the actual era, I'm sure we wish this revival could have lasted longer.

  • I would feel like an idiot dancing around like that. That put the cheese in cheesy.

  • Hey Nick, I think I just figured out where Rick Astley learned to bust a move - he watched this video! :P :D

  • loved it then and love it now, touches your heart, everyones been there, the love ,the hurt, the state of being lonely, and missing the one that got away.

  • Produced/promoted by David Gilmore.

  • This is one of my favourite songs. I always liked the dreamy/romantic sound they had. It's too bad the audio quality on here is so poor. The US version is a little better but still no where near what my CD is like.

  • This is dedicated to the ONE I LOVE! <3 <3

  • One of my favorite songs of the eighties.....MORE beautiful `80`s music on my channel!!!!

  • Beautiful song. Have not heard it in almost 25 years. I liked it then, still good now. Nice melody, chords, vocals, instrumentation, and lyrics.

  • I'm stunned, this video was posted by the actual band on last February 01, 2010, on the following day I met the most beautiful girl in a long time, in such a quick situation, didn't have the chance to ask her for a phone number, or even her full name, I only learnt her name, Diana, and that she was a graphic designer... She was with her mum, the one who started it all... The shortest 10 minutes of my life...

  • Beautiful, brilliant song, really love it... I miss the 80's so bad... Greetings from a fan in Bogotá, Colombia, and congratulations to The Dream Academy, you are in my heart, and in my dreams...

  • great song! thanks for putting out back out here again..

    Dream Academy lives forever!!

    .. the Jman..

  • Having one hit is more than the vast majority of other artists get. And having one hit has nothing to do with how talented they may be.

This was a class act & truly talented group of musicians with their own distinct voice.

  • Kept 'em from bein' a 1 hit wonder in the US. Hit #36 in Billboard, How'd it do in the UK?

  • @DaveWollenberg / Well I bought this single..

  • wait..... they broke up?

    no way!

  • I was in England in 87 or 88 - a cafe in a museum in London when I met the father of the girl in the band. He seemed very suprised and happy that I had heard of; and actually owned; the album of his daughter's band.

  • The Dream Academy was a really talented and special group and not just some one hit wonder. Unfortunately , people are fickle and soon after their debut album they were almost disregarded. This is a great song from a great band!

  • love this song so much! thank you for posting it!
