I have alway enjoyed Carlos Montoya's music and i have one of his album wrapped with still in excellent condition.

Carlos Montoya was the first flamenco player I ever heard. And I remember that I loved this song most of all...

the tremolo part is the most sweetest to hear. What people ever has to say about Carlos they cannot take away from him that he was the port for many people into flamenco

Only Andres Segovia and the legendary Cuban-American guitarist Rey de la Torre, may he rest in peace, played Malaguena this well. The CD Rey de la Torre: Works for Guitar, includes music written by Enrique Granados, Joaquin Nin-Culmell, Joaquin Rodrigo, Manuel de Falla, etc. The music of the three masters comes from the heart.

No one does Malaguena like Carlos Montoya although I heard a great rendition by Jose Rey de la Torre, the Cuban-American classical guitarist who also did a little flamenco (Buleria and Solea). He was of the Francisco Tarrega school of tradition.
