could you please telln me what type of lighting you have in there ? everywhere i try to research says different things but i want my cichlids to pop like that ! thanks !
I just uploaded a new video of my new african cichlid tank it would be awesome if i could get some views, also if u suscribe i will subscribe back, thanks:P
Hi Wilddolphin, what kind of rocks is it that you have in your tank? What are they called? And is that just a simple black background you are using? nice tank btw :)
If anyone can respond to this if they've heard of it happening: One of my cichlids like to make a mess out of my tank, is this "normal" and if not how do i correct him? lol
Looks great..the more the merrier. I know they fight less if there are more fish together. Must get a vid of mine up. You have much the same collection as I have.
hi Love your tank just love the design, but i have a question. During feeding with my fish i put cichlid pellets in the the tank but the fish don't notice them at all. I have 4 juvenile Yellow Labs. They been in the tank for 2 days now and this was the first feeding so i am worried about them. Please respond thx.
beautiful fish and tank. and just the right amount of fish also, not too much to the point its overcrowded, and enough so that its not "lonely" looking. great job
Not really, they need a stable pH in the 7.5-8.5 range and temps 78-80. The hardest part is feeding them the right food because they tend to get what's called malawi bloat if they have food with too much protein. Use crushed coral to buffer the pH, get a good heater and filter, and use NLS Cichlid Formula and you're good to go.
This video got thinking differently about how I was going to do my cichlid tank. I loved it so much my tank has shades of this setup. I just wish it was 180 gallons and as nice as this one.
wow that is a nice tank. the fish are very colorfull. To be honest i usally like saltwater fish but there are nice frestwater fish too. But it seems that u have to get agressive fish for color and size the community fish lack size and color. Do you know if these fish would go good with tiger oscars and convicts of the same size? If someone can email me about it. and what do tigers and covicts about 2 in like to eat? thank you. email is ems19792002@yahoo.com
@gblack12 you literally have to keep changing water like 90-100%, clean out all the gravel. Then just whatever you were feeding your fish, feed them less.
I looooooove African chichlids, I have a 65 litre tank - would this be big enough? and for how many? and what ones shall i start with :P I'm saving for a bigger tank which i could put them in if the 65 litre is not big enough-
very nice tank. what kind of filtration system do u use for such a big tank? im new in this and id like to have a big one like that when i move over to my new house
I've heard alot about overcrowding cichlids to reduce aggression, is this the case? i currently have 8 along with and multi plunctatus sinidontis(sorry if the spellings off lol) but they are all really aggressive since we lost a few due to sickness or old age.. (we had 12) we have a 40 gallon would adding more make a difference in the aggression?
had the same issue with the brown alge, All I did was leave the light off for about a week and did not feed the cichlids and they started munching on the alge and it looks a ton better.
great tank, love cichilds. now i have a 65 gallon tank and i want more cichilds, but i have no idea how many. i already have 4 yellow labs and 1 albino scolofi (dont know if thats the right name), plus a sailfin pleco and some yoyo loaches. someone told me 4 yellow labs was too many for a 65 gallon, but then ive seen videos of people with a 55 gallon tank with over 30 cichilds in it and they are all healthy, dont fight and have great colouring and are not stressed.
@deeisneat looks to be mostly ice blue cichlid with small yellow lab mix , depends on how well the male defends his mate so other males dont breed with the female....
great video m8. i have gone 45kg texas rock in my mbuna 55g set up and im getting brown algae. i kind of like it but at the same time i dont wanna see too much of it. this is my 1st tank ever & i have reduced the light time & im going to reduce the amount i feed them. I have a synonodotis muhipunctatus in there so hopefully he will help. Any ideas would be great like should i just leave the algae? clean it off the rocks?. doing a 30% water change today for the 1st time, hope this helps..
I have a question! I have no idea if I have Cichlids, It looks like those but my fishies are smaller. I have Yellows, Blue -- Purple kind of thing, and orange, I have 9 fishies and I don't know how many time I have to feed them everyday, I saw that since they are small I need to feed them 3 times a day? Or do I have to feed them 1 time a day?
Someone please answer! I need an answer, I just got my fishies today and cost me somewhere around $90, and I don't want them to die! D:
@aznfilipinoboi . i had 4 small cichlids in my tank about an inch long. (so they tiny). I was told to feed them once a day roughly the size of a new 10 pence piece. not much at all, if you over feed them it can cause more ammonia in the tank & nitrates but my fish seem to eat everything i give them^^. I now have 12 in there & feed them twice a day. just a little more than i did for the 4. Hope this helps.
yep, honestly cablethrash, w/ aggressive fish like these, overcrowding is recommended, provided you have the filtration for it. the fish look to be in great health actually.
hey cld you please help me figure this out im wanting to get a 75 gallon african cichlid tank i want these fish but can you tell me if thats to many in if you think it would work thanks 1 albino peacock 1 blue peacock 1 yellow peacock 3 johanni 2 bumble bee 2 blue colbalt 3 demasoni 1 electric blue 2 electric yellow labs 2 kenyi 3 mbuna 2 orange leleupi 1orange peacock cichlid 1 red peacock 2 venustus 2 tretocephalus 2 red zebra n 3 moorei 2 frontosa and 2 fuelleborni marmalade
how do you conceal the filters and heaters so well? any recommendations on what to use for the background? I've got a 125g African Cichlid tank, and am thinking about going with a gravel substrate instead of the pebble rock that I currently have. Is the sand easier/harder to maintain? and are there any advantages to having that instead of pebble rock? Thanks

Beautiful fish....Do you have to remove your rock to clean your tank? This is an open question for anyone here. I have a Cichlid tank with a ton of lace rock, and find that I have to remove my rock to get a thorough crushed coral cleaning done. Any thoughts?
This is a beautiful tank full of healthy fish. Thanks for sharing, I have just started a 55 gal. tank, with only 7 African Cichlids. I love them, I think I have it understocked though. Your's is truly a wonderful tank.
Actually having more fish cuts down the aggression. Gorgeous tank. I want one! How do you get a dark background like that? Really shows off the colours of the fish.
wow awfull those are all aggressive fish you shouldnt keep them together each species needs its own space and they have territory in their nature you can tell that they are all stressed out and aggressive
@lungbo you are right M8, these fish look great and healthy. I have also kept Mbuna for a long time, although i dont currently have any :-( . they dont look stressed at all,
the are clustering together at the end becuase someone is near the tank and they think they are getting fed... mine did this all the time, they learn it pretty quick.
@bleewicket Hi I have a question for you on my cichlides what is a good food source to feed them if I would like for them to breed quickly thankyou for your feedback. Mark

Beautiful fish....Do you have to remove your rock to clean your tank? This is an open question for anyone here. I have a Cichlid tank with a ton of lace rock, and find that I have to remove my rock to get a thorough crushed coral cleaning done. Any thoughts?

Great tank man. Where did you get those rocks in the background? Just fish stores?

This is a beautiful tank full of healthy fish. Thanks for sharing, I have just started a 55 gal. tank, with only 7 African Cichlids. I love them, I think I have it understocked though. Your's is truly a wonderful tank.

Actually having more fish cuts down the aggression. Gorgeous tank. I want one! How do you get a dark background like that? Really shows off the colours of the fish.
bleewicket 1 year ago
wow awfull those are all aggressive fish you shouldnt keep them together each species needs its own space and they have territory in their nature you can tell that they are all stressed out and aggressive
CABLETHRASH 1 year ago
@CABLETHRASH Colours look good, water looks good, they don't look stressed to me and i have had cichlids for 15 years! Shows how much you know!
lungbo 1 year ago 13
@lungbo I agree. They do not look stressed just busy. Like they should be! And most of them he has in there will not get bigger than 4 inches.
pipperoooo 1 year ago
@lungbo you are right M8, these fish look great and healthy. I have also kept Mbuna for a long time, although i dont currently have any :-( . they dont look stressed at all,
the are clustering together at the end becuase someone is near the tank and they think they are getting fed... mine did this all the time, they learn it pretty quick.

This is probably the best looking fish tank on all of Youtube. I've seen this same video dozens of times. It's everywhere.
