I cant thank Yah enough for blessing me with parents that gave their best to keep me from the mental bondage that plagues our people. • @MzHottieBody34 YES!!!! , But what kind of a beast!! Lovely!!

  • isn´t history beautiful?

  • It's like the african "Lean On Me". Love both these movies!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • @AZASN8SHUN African comes before American. So perhaps 'Lean On Me' is like the African 'Sarafina'.

  • @Jemini29944 Normally, yes, but in this case. Lean On Me was MADE first. lol :P

  • @Jemini29944 Leon on me is more like This is what we've become as where sarafina is like this is who we WERE.. Past and present

  • @Mudiwan89 me too hey, wow...deep...Mbgongeni Ngema

  • da whoop whoop as a zulu; didn't get the accent but the spirit is there :)

  • Even when they were being dehumanized , Africans still praised a God introduced to them by the same savage and barbaric race who in the most cruel fashion brutalized them every single day and still do. WHY?

  • @askido351 The devil did it to always keep us from the truth and the true liberator of souls Jesus, It work for us in slavery days going to Jesus ourselves and by trusting in him overcame the hate thats still here to this day but Jesus is king and he said enough is enough by abraham lincoln freeing us physically, but it's up to us to free ourselves mentally which can be more brutal then physical, Now if we like me an ex-con can just get off this drug and violence thing will be alright

I am 14 yrs old I do care about my heritage and I am proud to be African. I believe you just have to have spirit and hope to be strong.

I am aware most of my peers are like what you say. But not everyone is like that.

  • Man, I like seeing movies like this. The kids are struggling with apartheid and the military police at their schools but it aint all about black people being portrayed as criminals, rappers, or athletes all day. Being black is rich in culture but Hollywood and the media these days are hell bent on glorifying the negative or materialistic shit of it. I feel for the youngster coming up today because they can't tell the difference nor do some care about their heritage. Glad I was in the 80's & 90s

  • @phesterjr It is reprehensible that this movie is not on TV more often, so that young people coming up could see it. I cannot remember the last time I saw it on TV, but it was probably sometime in the 90's. You must know who you are and what you are capable of. You must know that your people are not as they are portrayed in music videos and the media. You must know that there is, and always has been, a slumbering hero within you that must be awakened.

  • Am so excited abt getting to see dis movie again afta like 10 yrs **i think***, I had no idea Whoopi was in the movie. Go Whoopi u awesome

  • Okay the man who sang the give us this day part made it obvious they were lip singing when he didnt close his mouth on the heaven part @ 3:04 LOL!!!. But it was still jamming. I love my black people. we are fly to the bone. white man was so in love with our continent because of the resources. but what they failed to realize was Africas greatest resource was and is the PEOPLE .. Not the diamonds or any material substance. Peace.

  • ahhhh man african harmony is like none other!

  • it's so incredible how time flies by, we had great time doing this movie entirely in

Soweto. each time i bump to any clip, i don't think so much about the Movie but

it makes think about the great guys i lived with from the late '80's up until we did

this remarkable Movie to the last part of living together under the same roof where we rehearsed as well, that's mid 90's. you realize that time is invincinble & yet

so powerful, instrumental & crucial in determining where we come from

  • it's so amazing how time really flies by. we did this way back in '93 & each time i

bump to any clip or music it all seems like yesterday. we had great time with the

guys in Soweto on location. just wishing i could turn back time not because of

this movie, but because of the friendship we shared all those years from the late

'80's until the mid 90's . we were like brothers & sisters. time is something

invincible yet determining & monitoring things we do & where wer'e heading to.

  • over 16 years later and I still love this movie!!

  • I love this move as well!!

  • goa i luv dis movie; hate dat a-hole . stocking sarafina ; police-men are such a frickin brat ! but da morning prayer was off da HOOK ! aMeN ;

  • all of the young sistas in sarafina is beautiful and still is too

  • Does this represent South Africa at that time-mostly christians?

    and god is green??

  • @SacrificeRecords2 no shes making a point.anyone could make god a colordoesnt mean he or it is.noone knows.thats why they i not say a flesh color

  • @thepaesesai My question is why the representation as if they are christians, when in face,in that part of the world ,they are mostly muslim. And if children goin thru the hardships of aparthid want to believe God is black (as whites have enjoyed this fantasy for centuries) than why plant a subliminal seed that He is not.

  • @SacrificeRecords2 get your facts right... that part of the world has more christians than muslims.. where are yu from.. yu seem so misinformed

  • @9makala There is no proof of such because it is a fallacy.

  • @SacrificeRecords2 i dont kno about the religions there,so im not sure why.but in my look of things....i dont think god has a specific color at all....i mean ,what if hes really orange or purple?i dont really care what color he is.his image is whatever people see him as.
