@redlinebikes doesnt matter if it has a little more power. its that fact that he said "i had a ka24e on my 1990 240sx and the turbo i installed nomatter what turbo it is will blow it they are small engines." and he said upgrade to a ka24de which is the same displacement.
This kit seems plausable.. but only as a starting point. on a fresh ka24e block stock crank and rods. add forged pistons, upgrad to 550cc injectors. 255lph fuel pump, good tune with nistune. maybe some light head work i say 400hp is posible..all day!! throw a ka24de stroker kit from bc making it a 2.65L with its lowerd compresion and a heavy tune 500 plus!! cmon kids use your heads.
was there anything done to the internals? or was the kit just bought and installed with all stock internal? nice vid, wouldnt mind having 230hp in my 240 haha
@manoftheyear69 i hope he worked on the internals otherwise that turo kit is like a fast acting cancer gonna fuk up his motor always work on internals if your car if id didnt come with a stock turbo
many people take their stock block to 300whp on these motors all the time. What kills them more than anything is cheaping out on the fuel/ign management and using SAFCII instead of a proper tune.
anyone know what a setup like this would cost? I just bought a 1990 240sx SE It's in mint condition with only 39,393 original miles. I want to build it but I want to build it right.
Greddy dont even make a turbokit for the single cam and even if they did it wouldnt make even that much power !!! Hell the twin cam kit only makes 226hp!! custom turbo kit is the way to go i know a guy making 320hp on a stock single cam with a custom tune ecu running 12.4 sec 1/4mile on way less then 4k invested!!!!!
I have a KA with roughly 110k miles on it and am debating on whether to get the bottom end rebuilt, built up, or just leave it be, because in a few months when I can afford it, I'm wanting to get the Greddy KA-T turbo kit and run between their recommended 5PSI and the kit capable 8PSI. Havn't taken the car to a dyno yet, but intend to to see what my baseline is.
I had the GReddy Kit on my old s14. 7psi on the streets, 10psi on the track. The only things I would reccomend are using 550cc injectors opposed to the 370s the kit comes with. Then getting a GOOD tune. The GReddy kit is reliable and a very good one. I had it on my car for 20k miles.
Also, get a lightweight flywheel when upgrading your clutch. It will allow you to rev faster, and reduce stress on the bearings which one of the first to go on a KA. my car made 241whp 227lb-ft 7psi no tune
check compression first. if all is well, the internals should hold up just fine with 8psi or lower. also, consider "renewing" your cooling system. there's a whole writeup and nicoclub in the ka-t section
Yeah, I went ahead and got a new radiator of a friend of mine who did a SR swap. The car is running fine, but I have it on jackstands at the moment in the garage because I don't want to drive it until summer, or at least spring break. Thinking about getting a bigger innercooler though.
Depending on the condition your ka is in would determine how much boost it could handle. Ka's have been well known to push over 20-30 psi all day long on stock internals if the engine Is in good condition, typically with a cometic headgasket or a felpro headgasket, So Ya. But building your ka to handle the extra heat and power is always best. Forged pistons, rods etc always make a difference in the long run.
Well we would have to see the dyno sheet to see the power band. But KA-T engines don't rev out very far and the turbo isn't set on a high boost setting so I'm saying that's proabably why it dosn't spool loud or pull real hard I'm assuming it's more progressive coming on.
To ole dude, yeah I told the guy he was an idiot, hell it's not hard to slap the fmu on and go with it on low boost but hey now I've got his SE lol and correct me if I'm mistaken but at around 300hp doesn't the stock maf max out? Idn but for 300 I'd go with a z32 maf, 550cc injectors, walbro 255lph fuel pump (100bucks new), and maybe a Enthalpy tune, or a good piggy back if you're good at that. Around 15psi on a medium-trim turbo will net close to 300whp :)
the 240sx only came with ka24e and ka24de. never anything else from the factory thus the 240 name tay. the sr20de sr20det and rb series are all swaps from japan. the rb means that they are inline 6cyl. oh ya and s13 is 89 to 94 s14 95 to 98 the last year for the 240sx
i think ima get this first then do engine work, cause i did research and everyone says stock internals can holf it, i wann boost it 5psi till i get engine work done can i do this with this kit??? message me please
I have a question, how can I tell what engine I have? I just bought a '89 240sx yesterday, I learned that there are black/red top sr20det, but my looks like yours does this mean its the ka24e? Where on the engine would it say what version of engine it is?
theres, ka24e, ka24de, sr20de, c18de originally. RB's are swapped in it. look under your hood to the left on the back part behind the engine theres a plate it will read out one of those numbers unless some one swapped something before you bought it
Its the CXR turbo kit, uses the T3/T4 hybrid turbo. Im plannin on ordering this kit for my KA24E cuz i cant afford an SR20 and this makes 230 RWHP on stock ECU and fuel system. when i purchase this kit ima stack the HG, map 1 ECU and SR20 fuel pump. my hopefull number will be 300 i HOPE!!! lol wish me luck. ill post a video when the car is fully finished

The KA comes from the factory with forged internals. That's why many people will make some very high numbers on these motors stock.

only way to 'build it right' is to spend 4k for a greddy kit.
while cxracing is good its not close to as good as greddy or a high end turbo company. BUT THATS ONLY HOW TO DO IT RIGHT.
imo. i WOULD go cxracing. only because i wouldent buy a turbo kit worth more than my car 240
