they can..if future trunks learns instant transmission from present goku and in future he goes to namek with bulma(as nameks know bulma since planet namek was dstroyed till they wished shenron for new namek) then he can wish back piccolo back to life as he didnt fuse with kami in that time line so earth dragon balls can be revived and then they wished shenron for bringing everyone back to life who were killed by androids 17 and 18..!..well that,s my opinion...!

They didn't use the Namekian ones because they didn't know where New Namek was in the future (though it is possible that Trunks found out in the past and went to find them after he returned and killed the androids-we'll never know, I guess).

I like to think (mostly just to make myself feel better-I'm a future gohan fan and I like happy endings) that after Trunks returned to the future and destroyed Cell and the Androids, he somehow found new namek (either via Bulma, King kai, or asking for the coordinates while in the past) and wished everyone back (save for Goku, who died of natural causes via disease). Gohan and everyone else returned and peace reigned-or so I like to think.

@Futuregohan14 yea i like to be optimistic about that kind of stuff too but. i just love throwing this into the plot holes why not after gohan killed cell why didnt trunk go back into his timeline before the androids killed everyone? he knows where the lab is. he can 1 shot the androids. i mean cmon i know this is a filler but damn so many plotholes make the show boring as hell.

@SinOfDisaster DBZ is a great anime and manga, but a lot of people forget that Toriyama is not the best storywriter. He doesn't craft intricate stories and deep characters quite as well as others, which is a big reason why Dragonball has so many plotholes. Its just such a badass series that we forgive all of that anyway.

@viper6699 Finally found a source. The 1 year limit only applies for Shenlong and the Earth dragonballs, specifically whenever he is wishing back a group of people. Porunga does not have this limitation, and can wish back anyone from anytime as many times as needed, provided they did not die of natural causes. This means that if Future Trunks ever found new namek, he would be able to wish everybody back save for Goku.
