Like 'mianhassanjavaid' this is the first bandish I can remember to which I was attracted since 1982 or 1983, and which I heard from Shri (Late) Manik Sanyal for the first time. I was just 12 yrs old that time. It has the same mesmerizing effect after so many years. Thanks a lot for sharing.
great song! thanks. I had also mistaken it to be a bhajan... but it doesnt matter, i think it is lifting the consciousness of everyone, its just divine.
That being said, this is a wonderful khyal in Rag Bhimpalasi by a younger Pandit Jasraj recorded a few decades ago. Cypher88888888, I found plenty of nice Bhajans by Pt. Jasraj in your channel, thank you.
Cypher8888, FYI - this is not a Bhajan, at least not the khyal. The lyric for the Khyal is by Sadarang who was a 16th century mughal court musician addressed to his king Mohamad Shah.
Pandit Jasraj does start with a devotional invocation to Vishnu but the lyric of the drut khyal is unrelated.
@Cypher8888 : Well said by mlredr. Infact here 'mandir' is actually to be taken as a room ! The girl is saying this to her beloved -
'ja ja re apne mandirewa, sun pawegi saans-nandiya' and then ' hum to sadarang tumko chahat hai, tum humse ka chhalan kiya' - so she is really playing naughty. This is no way a Bhajan!!
Absolutely superb!!! Guruji is great. One of my favourites

This a very well known classical bandish in Bhimpalasi. For example, this classical bandish is also sung by Agra gharana vocalists.
Tabla player on this recording is Ustad Zakir Hussain.
