@stig781 With low fuel (like they used to run in Q2 from 2006-2009) todays cars are a little slower around most tracks than the 2004/2005 cars; the reason their qualifying laps show otherwise is because the 04/05 cars carried race fuel onboard.
Todays cars are much faster in low to mid speed corners (where downforce counts the most at high speed, they are about as fast as 2008 cars) but significantly slower in acceleration and straight line speed.
Aw... I miss the old sound of the V10s and the availability of the 2 different manufacturers of tires, and the beautiful flowing shapes of the past F1 cars... Invest in safe barrier like they do in NASCAR and let the F1 teams do what F1 teams do best, and that is make beautiful cars and make them go as fast as physically possible around a circuit.
@op3l F1 does have safer barriers. They are tire walls... F1 will probably never have Nascars styrofoam barriers since they dont race close to a wall like nascar. they have a bit more distance to travel before the make contact with a wall most of the time. only at indianapolis they were close to a wall coming onto the front straight. Plus f1 circuits are built differently. I think singapore is the closest with foam padding like a caarpet.
what a beautiful livery

It's not really a lap "onboard" and I think it's spelled Bahrain. But Alonso is cool!!!

Renault used to have really great aerodynamics kits and their cars could go really fast in the corner.

Realistically I think this years championship will be Alonso vs. Hamilton.
The only other person I see being capable of winning the champ is Schumacher if he gets back into the swing of things.

maybe vettel can get himself up there too
