Just an excellent rock song. I actually just ran across this song recently, having heard it on Deep Tracks on satellite radio. I prefer the version by Unicorn--it has a grittier sound to me. But Gilmour's version is very good too.
@gordie225 - you don't mean Roger Waters do you? Why, he's the greatest thing rock music has ever known - just ask him - he'd love to run that self-indulgent mouth of his and tell you all about it
Real music never dies, great tunes will be always with us...it's a shame that today almost all that is created is just pile of shit and it can't be really called Music...Thanks for 60's and 70's!!!
I loved turning P Floyd fans on to David's solo albums and have them go "Is that the new Pink Floyd?"....David Gilmour is the vital cog in PF...we all know it....I love it...
Should've been a much bigger hit for Dave. That damn disco & those damn Bee Gees & ABBA were all over the Billboard Hot 100. This song didn't even make the American Billboard pop singles chart.
Apparently in an interview I watched with this band, Pink Floyd was there biggest influence. Check out 'MORRE - LADY OF LUST' There a fresh new band from Canada!
@Ervine383 Artists today lack emotion, that is what made music so good back then, artists really cared about their songs. It's kind of my goal as a musician to not let that vibe of old music die... I mean it doesn't have to sound the same but if it is done with as much feeling... then at least it captures the spirit of the good old stuff =)
@gcdailey317 I have a different take on the words. It seems like he his talking about the Poverty created Under Socialist Britain and Communism in general. He wrote this song after a long Visit through Eastern Europe and Russia .... I think.
@hearnb1 Sounds about right, But what is so awesome about music is it can be about what ever the listener wants it to be about. It's all open to interpretation. I am sure people in jail, people stuck at home due to illnesses , people who feel stuck anywhere relate to this song, all the greatest songs ever made are usually ones a majority of people can relate to. Music is connection. Got to love that =)
@KadenceRain Yes Very true I just try to put things into Historic Perspectives. I really hate when History and truth are ignored :-) But since I was not in his inner Circle , I am just guessing also :-)
Great video for the lord-god of prog-rock David Gilmour. May his music continue to cleanse the world of all the "Lady GaGas", Snookis, ad infinitum. Thank you so much.
@timepoet77 all your doing is prolonging the earache with the constant reference to these artists,,,every fucking music video on youtube as comments like yours,,get over it already you boring bastard,,,how you can even be thinking of such utter pish while listening to this great music is beyond me
I saw him in Boston in 1984. i had second row seats at the Orpheum Theater and Mick Ralphs traded the t-shirt he was wearing with the guy who was sitting in front of me.
was thinking of this song all nite ..... reminding me of a great time!!! Thanks for posting!!!

@Coopersboy7 That is certainly one way to take it. Another interpretation may be free will as opposed to predestination. We make our own way.
