I am a proud Brit. But I believe that over my countrys history the French were definitely our hardest enemy and probably the best Army in Europe, where as we were more notorious at Sea.
Napoleon was also IMHO the best Commander who ever lived. UK, Germany, Spain etc have all had some great Commanders but Napoleon Bonaparte was the greatest. Viva la France.

All armies struggle with financial problems and that is good, because if the readiness would change we would have more and more wars.
