Monckton supporters may be unwilling to change their views because people usually have a mental block to the admission of being wrong.

Being wrong by proxy when you've put someone up on a pedastool while taking everything they say without even moderate skepticism seems to create this even more-so.

It's like a terrible band, and the fans will say it's the best thing ever. They'd rather listen to something they hate than be alienated by their peer group

I think he is cherry-picking accurate information about other planets and moons. He doesn't mention that some planets and moons are getting colder at the same time. Since orbits are elliptical, I would expect that about half are getting further from the sun at any given time so there should be cooling on those planets and their moons while those that are getting closer should be warming.

@RyuDarragh Probably from peer reviewed journals. I'm surprised he didn't mention Uranus as it has been warming as well. Though his simple minded followers do not realize that there are more than just solar output than can affect planetary climates. For instance, the reason the ice caps on Mars are melting is because of albedo changes due to changing dust storms. and this, once again, comes from peer reviewed literature.

@WaxItYourself: Indeed. Using the data itself and not asking the obvious question "why?". It's easy to use a single factum to obfuscate an issue, sadly. It could be that the albedo changes are due to lower than expected solar irradiance, but that has not been mentioned or any reason discussed by him. He's hoping everyone will just assume it's because of greater solar output and will just ignore all evidence to the contrary.

@GhenisCanne I am already well aware of this study and have discussed this in depth. Here they are only testing one aspect of cloud formation due due to cosmic radiation. There are four variables that need to be satisfied. however, climatologists are well aware of this but they are also well aware the effect is minimal. deniers are taking this far out of context just as about any other news that they believe supports their belief.

It also shows without a doubt that the warming is attributable to a growing greenhouse (Temporal and spatial rates of warming) and it also shows that most of the warming is attributable to CO2 (Satellite measurements of outbound longwave radiation). I have read the responses of scientists. (Realclimate website)

There has been no accessible thorough debate, covering all pertinent aspects, on the issue of the man made climate question. Too bad.
