We saw this show twice that year, my "Heavy Metal Girl Friend", and I. We later got married and we are still together and in Love! Queensryche has been such a big part of our lives, they ARE STLL MY FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME, and it's 23 YEARS later!!!! Not many bands have the kind of talent and music that will still BE LOVED 25 YEARS LATER!
Queensryche is one of the GREATEST Metal Bands of ALL TIME and the album that this is from is THE GREATEST METAL RECORD OF ALL TIME: Operation Mindcrime!
I seen this too in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1991. I went with my brother and neice. I remember after, when the house lights came on. All of us looked at each other saying "wow." It was new technology back then. We never saw anything like that before.
This was the best live performance I ever saw.. Greensboro NC 1991.. Perfection. Actually saw these guys about 2 weeks ago in WS.. Still rocking even though DeGarmo was not with them..
I saw it in '88 on the actual tour. I was 14 and just in high school, they opened for Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour. My first concert and I will never forget it. Though there have been thousands of shows in the interim-Mindcrime in it's original tour form, resonate eternal
@666Lucas666 For me nothing beats Kennedy, but that's just me, I'm a die-hard AB fan ya see :P Still think Tate is ridiculously good though, saw them supporting Judas Priest at Glasgow in July and he didn't miss a beat.
God, Geoff Tate has to be one of the greatest singers I have ever heard along side Aaron Lewis of Staind, Layne Staley of Alice In Chains and James Hetfield of Metallica.
i remember as a kid (im 19) allways getting the VHS tapes out from the entertainment center and watching this concert that my parents went to when my mom was pregnant with me \,,/
I was at the concert in Dec of '91 in Spokane, WA. It was the last time they did Operation Mindcrime in it's entirety. It is still the best concert that I have ever been to.
This is brilliant!. Queensrÿche at the peak of their career. Operation Mindcrime is an incredible concept album, pretty much like "The Wall" or "Tommy". It still send shivers down my spine after 20 years. I love it!!
The Livecrime album is one of Queensryche's best live albums. The only thing I didn't like qas the sound of the audience. It just doesn't sound like a real audience.
I love how the imagery that shaped this album are still affecting todays society. The 80's where Gaddafi & Saddam where at the top to now where Saddam had fallen and now Gaddafi falling by the day. Who knew huh???
Queensryche did and they have been telling us for a longtime now......
I remember when my buddy bought this Live Crime box set we were 15 and it changed our lives.........beautiful times with the whole world laid in front of us!
Wow! people of my generation (I'm 21) really don't understand how phenomenal of a band this is. This is my 3rd favorite band of all time, after The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Mindcrime is definitely my all time favorite concept album, I've been searching for this Dvd for years now and watching these videos of it makes it so much harder to deal with not owning and not being able to see them live in their prime.
Totally incredible. I wish the 80's were back. You have to admit there are no lyrics today that even come close to this. Lady Gaga, Black Eye Peas, Justin Bieber, etc. - please. "Is this all that's left of my life before me? Straight jacket memories, sedative highs. No happy ending like they've always promised. There's got to be something left - for me ". Are you kidding me? Musicians today wished they could write incredible lyrics like this.
I was third row and center for this show when it came to Atlanta. Absolutely mindblowing. By far, the greatest concept album ever recorded, and just as topical and timely as ever.
@Mathikins unfortunately they aren't these days. they should have picked a good guitarist instead of Chris. they got all these weird unknown guys that never really fit in. I'm not sure that is the main problem, but something is missing... right after Promised Land they got switched off by an invisible switch.
This was the "Empire" tour, not "Mindcrime". They had never played the album in its entirety before. I bought the boxed set back then (got it for Christmas, actually) and was overjoyed when the DVD came out several years ago. The old VHS was really worn out, heh.
@xAquinasx, I LOVE the PANAVISION film picture quality on "LIVEcrime". When Queensryche flimed this concert, the film crew used Panavision lenses in their cameras, which give this concert a movie-like look to it. Those were and still are what the film industry use for many movies, especially big budget films.
@MrPman851 Wayne Isham did a fantastic job with the filming and editing of this masterpiece. He also did the "Jet City Woman" video. And yes, the movie quality of LIVEcrime really does it justice.
@xAquinasx, Wayne Isham to me is one of the greatest video directors of all time. He worked with Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, 98 Degrees, Styx, Motley Crue, etc. I agree that he pulled a rabbit out of his hat with this film.
I saw most of the rock/metal bands from mid-80's thru mid-90's........but I'm kicking myself for never seeing these guys.
They are awesome, and I love this album. Ironic, that I ended up on the same Southwest flight from Burbank to Sacramento one day as Geoff Tate, as Queensryche was playing Arco Arena in Sac that night. Nobody on the flight or at the airport recognized him but me.
I told him to have a good show that night. He was nice (wish he would have offered me some tix) :)
One of the best live bands ever, these guys create timeless music that never goes out of style. Just wish their latest release lived up to the hype they gave it.
Same here, I don't know how many times I played the whole album over and over again. And I'm still playing it. Saw them live at the Operation: Mindcrime tour. ......best ever.
I remember this concert like it was yesterday what a great show it was! Geoff Tate's voice is amazing live that man can belt it out and sound good still. Not like these pop stars that sound good only on CD and suck live...

The notes and scales these guys inter-twine are outside the box, such a treat to study their music and try and get in their head and imagine combinations of different notes strung together in a manner which you would never have come up.....very enjoyable. Every night practise their, The Very Best of Queensryche, by Hal Leonard publications. I am not associated with them just have spent couple years practicing their music on guitar (great release for me).
@Flaggius I agree and they'll be a part of my life as with every QR fan, The musicianship of QR as a whole is just mind blowing. Their the gods of stage presence and show just how it should be done. Let's just hope the new generation of metal learns a thing or two from QR.
Same here, saw them open for Metallica in Jacksonville, Florida. The opening with Anarchy X was just incredible. I think the audience was louder than Scotts drums!
@mickollas You are probably right but I saw many shows in the same venue...some I am now even ashamed to admit. I have to tell you the QR absolutely slayed it!!!!!! The acoustics of the place were pretty loud being the auditorium is a concrete bunker sheel but they, especially, Chris Degarmo hit ervy single freaking note right on. The muscianship of this band with the original members was unparalled except maybe Rush (not the biggest Rush fan...but more than appreciate good muscianship).
Nothing takes me back to my past like music. God, I'm 22, again, seeing these guys open up for Metallica in the middle of nowhere in Lubbock, Texas. Never forget this show.
Guys, hack Emi, Bmg and all the other Ones!!! I cant watch the Videos anymore , here in germany they`re Part of the companys and baned!!! those A..holes had been to lame to see what the Net is all about and now we`re the Bad Ones- i only wanna watch some good Music !!! all U R&R`s stay safe , and have a good New Year, with lots of Livesounds, and without the Lobbys :)
I saw this live 3 times back in '91. Nothing has ever compared since then to this amazing, amazing show from a completely creative and original band whose music has and probably always will stand the test of time!!
Amen to that bro'. I saw this tour when they opened for Metallica on the Justice tour, then saw them do the whole album live on the Empire tour...went and saw the live rock opera-type performance last year which was kickass! Got some wicked pix from that show..Pure class act all the way and will withstand the test of time!
I loved them then and love them now and will love them 20 yrs frm now. I'm a 49 yr ole F frm Alabama and creativity and talent does not get much better than this!
I went to this concert and was never the same after.....no words.

Same here, saw them open for Metallica in Jacksonville, Florida. The opening with Anarchy X was just incredible. I think the audience was louder than Scotts drums!

Wasn't it King X that opened for them?

@Niemeyer2007
I dont remember anyone else opening up except QR and than Metallica came on.
mickollas 1 year ago

Now THIS is Queensryche! This band was a total MACHINE during this era and one of the greatest live heavy metal bands ever to take the stage!
GOD do they ever miss Chris DeGarmo.

I love how they bridge right into a reprise of Anarchy X in the end. It sound's so brilliant, I prefer the live version over the album cut.

you can also hear the ending of anarchy x at the end of a junkie's blues from mindcrime 2 :P

Yes we need Degarmo back. This band needs to tour again soon. They bought it on themselves! They are just too damn good not to tour. Period!
