@chopperhead2011 yea obviously he understands english he jus cnt pronounce properly but he is flunet in it in grammer and writing, jus too much accent
its big bulllll shit !!! how can you posibly learn racing just by plaing games? it will never be possibly by simple thing - when car stars to skid you fell it by labyrinth ( 10 times ealer faster then by seeing) and you dont get that "labyrinth " experoience - gt 5, no metter how fun good it will be its just a game, I play it - lost too much time on that but its just a game
im gonna take a different stance in disagreeing with you here... honestly you can learn things like body roll theory, line theory, the importance of being smooth, and other theory related things... The difference in handling different drivetrains (fwd, rwd, awd) I think theory can be learned from the game...

It's almost impossible to drive in GT4. Even with a steering wheel controler. I prefer NFS ProStreet. It's less complicated and you can do more with your car. GT4 has too many cars and is to hard to play. Like when I played it with my friend I couldn't even turn the car slightly with out spinning out. Until the game play is better I'm not getting it.

I couldn't drive it with my steering wheel and sensitivity on it was ultra low. Either I have faulty equipment ore GT4 sucks to play. And as far as the simulation thing goes my car Honda Civic handles better than the one on the game did at 60MPH because in real life if you turn your steering wheel 1 degree you don't spin out like you do in GT4! NFS is by far way more fun to play!
well i play it with the PS2 controls, not a steering wheel ^^. so try it with the controller 1st then u will see. but i do know what u mean when your 1st time at it, its like your turning a brick. i know but, practice makes perfect
lmao i agree, nfs is a piece of shit. anyone can pick it up and play it and drift like a pro. i would know cause i suck at gt and played nfs:u2 and it was easy as hell. GT keeps me interested because there is a real learning curve.
GT4 is by no means an ultra realistic driving simulator, but Yamauchi is right in feeling the limits of vehicles. I swear, GT4 with a Logitech DFP on full settings.. do the Nurburgring in that little Proto Motors cars and see if you don't sweat trying to keep that thing on the road. GT4 is absolutely excellent for learning or at least understanding defensive driving, in other words recovering from slides, spins, controlling oversteer, understeer etc etc.
i think that Gran Turismo is a great driving simulator, and has taught me A LOT of car control and driving skills, but for the most ultrarealistic driving experience, try Live For Speed for the PC. there is a free demo version and you can find it at lfs. net (take the space out). It's definitely the most realistic simulator i have ever experienced. :)
GT cant replace the real experiences, but he is correct in saying pilots train on sims, so it can easily be done for driving.
Also just understanding the basic driving principles of grip, weight transfer, max braking, and so forth, one can understand how to be smoother with the controls, not get tunnel vision, and pay greater attention to the surroundings.
I think I'm beginning to understand your concepts of providing these videos. A lot of videos have "Show and Tell" concept with often more show then tell. I think your concept is "Tell and Show" and it's working for me. Thanks for the videos!

caveman, gt is a driving simulator. have you heard about pilots practicing with simulators?
yes it is not real life, but the only difference is the g-forces felt by the body.

Video games substituting real thing? I guesss the element of fear and common sense is not important lol
gsalvatori 4 years ago 2
not entirely substituted, but as a learning aid to go along with the real thing... I would support that.
