  • I sure like to know what happened to the brand new beautiful M78 TWIN DRIVE IN sign, with the "Blue Screen" and "Red Screen" panels.

  • SEE ALSO: These other OUTDOOR MOOVIES videos on The RQVOutdoorMoovies Channel: 1. ski hi drive in closes down 2. the m78 blue screen gets painted, lansing michigan usa 3. the m78 drive in and super cinema story 4. an abandoned m78 afternoon 5. a night at the m78 6. no movie tonight aka the burnside bummer 7. buck night at the northside 8. starlight auto theater ohio usa. • Almost 985 views! Wow! Thanks!

  • Casey Kasem doing the last voiceover.

  • ALMOST 900 VIEWS...WOW!

  • They closed it because the manager Evelyn who became the super cinema's manager, her son JR robbed the drive in twice, and because trouble from Lansing began to show up more frequently. My dad, uncle and JR were security. My mom, my aunt and evelyn's daughter ran the concession stand and ticket booths, and vern ran the pojection booth. I was his apprentice. the last year it was open I would run it myself.

  • @blottobox34 This is very interesting. I worked at the M78 during it's last 9 years, but, you probably didn't see much of me because I worked day crew exclusively for 6 days a week. We probably met once or twice, my name is Darryl. You are right on about the armed robberies. Working day crew, I often observed that certain person rack up hours in pay for doing nothing. He sucker punched me once. It was my understanding that he was banned from the place. Thanks for the comment.

  • Right on! Phoenix Arisen, I agree. Check out the ALBION DRIVE IN! Those multi plexes suck compared to the drive in theater experience!

  • Sad !!!! An era we will never see again. Too many people want the "comfort" of an over crowded, noisy, smelly ,indoor theater. Those were the days.

  • The M78 Drive In is Now an empty lot.

  • After watching a cool video of the M78 snack bar it was kind of weird to see the marque get destroyed. It is sad when a community turns its back on an irreplacable landmark like the M78. I never went there but on the video the snack bar looked really cool. Someone said there was another drive in that looked just about like it. The Super cinema sounds like it was just a slap shot box. Too bad they couldn't have kept the drive in open!

  • After just watching a cool video of the M78 snack bar, it was kind of weird seeing the marque get tore down. Excelent Posting! So often an historic event like this happens and we don't get to see it or just drive by on our way to wherever. I've never seen a drive in theater get torn down and it is very sad to watch. The audio helped soften the blow, however. Nice choice of trailer sounds, back in the day when they really knew how to promote a movie. Too bad about the M78.

  • It could have kept going if people wouldn't have quit coming.

  • Nice video. Fun audio. Keep up the good work.

  • The Super Cinemas and M-78 could have existed fine side by side similar to the situation in Flint with the Showcase Cinemas and Miracle Twin Drive-In (at least for a few more years).
