Hi, thank you. I use an Ibanez S540 from 1990 (yellow custom made) with IBZ/USA F2 bridge pickup. F1 for the neck. I love this damn Ibanez guitars from before 92 only !
Dear Nicolas, congratulations, amazing player! BWT, i`m looking for replaced my speakers. Which one do you have at your cabnet? do you like them? thanks Arthur!
Hello thanks for your comment. It's a 2x12 MESA cabinet. They "wear" Vintage 30 right ? I guess so. But it's indeed a hudge sounding cabinet. Perfect choice inbetween the combo convinience and the 4x12, wich is often too much. I used to play 4x12 when playing live but since 2 years, I take this 2x12 everywhere. In my opinion, it is perfect One to be coupled with the JSX. Not too much of anything, just enough of everything.
how does this amp handle the road? (touring, giging, in and out of practice) peaveys are known for tough amps that handle almost anything. just thought id ask anyways. :) great demo!!
Hello, it actually falls in the minivan before a show (3 feet high). I thought it was blowed off, and it started normally like nothing happend. Also I once had a pair of defectuous EL34 MESA, they were going hot fire red during sound check. Sounded like end of the world Who concert with on fire tubz. I ran to the amp to shut it off. And I just replaced them and... here we go. Not a hum, no wizz, nothing wrong. Cross fingers but I can say it seems to be hard as a rock built.
@krma1970 cool thanks dude! i hope a never drop mine. i just bought one from a stupid kid that didn't know what he had! Lol $650 bucks for it! haha its a sweet amp! the cleans are so clean. almost no gain bleeding through the clean channel! i love it! one problem though (you find with most high gain amps) its fucking noisy! you NEED a noise gait for this monster!
I had some background noises when using Marshall pre amp tubes. I switched to Electro harmonix and / or Mesa... And it is the most silent amp ever. Maybe you have to manually adjust the BIAS also to get it in the right "place". Tubes makes all the difference, really.
@krma1970 i have mesa tubes in it now. its just that i play at such loud vol. that its completely natural to have noise (feedback, tube squeal. ect.) really its not that bad.. im just a tone freak and it sometimes bothers me. nothing a good noise gait wont fix :)
Great sound demo, and thanks for listing the settings! I've had the JSX 212 for a while now and I cannot find that bluesy just semi-dirty tone when playing through a Strat with single coils or Tele Thinline with humbuckers. Any hints on that? It sounds great with my JS2000 for rockin' tones though.
Hi, I tried something on the crunch channel to get close to a bluesy sound : GAIN around 1, not even 1 actually, just to have a sound passing through, and then boost the channel volume up to 9 or 10, and the master also, to get some "power stage saturation". With my Fender strat, it came out quite good for a warm bluesy tone on the neck single coil pick up. But you won't have an Orange amp feel, neither Vox.
i was looking at this exact setup (JSX into 2x12 Mesa). Thank you for confirming that! And you might wanna also add a "Mesa' '2x12' 'cab' tag on this. I don't believe anyone else has put up a video running thru a Mesa. Thanks!
No, avoid pre amp simulator as long as you play a good tube amp. GT10 simulators are not bad but they can't stand comparison. Actually, GT10 or BOSS products in general, are not "super top" for reverbs delays etc, but it's useful with the amp control, that's why I'm using it. For killer effects qualiy I have also many Rocktron Intellifex from the 90's. Though I didn't use them on this demo. For stage configuration, you don't need hi quality FX, only something convenient and robust.
I have a GT10 and have started purchasing tube head . .. thinking of getting the JSX. So re: the GT10 how do you run the wires? . . . Straight in to the front or loop or both? How? . . . Thx.
I love this sound clip demo! I love the way krma1970 plays guitar on this video. By the way, I'm thinking about buying the Boss ME 70. I know that you use the Boss GT10 but it's a little pricey. Tell me your opinion. Also, tell me. If you had a choice between the Peavey 6505+ or the Peavey JSX, which one would you prefer?
Hi, I never tested the 6505, can't help you. All I can say is that I'm really really happy with the JSX, it fits my needs for clean & crunch wich is already a miracle. The ultra is also great but maybe a litte bit too far from the crunch channel fabulous "sound shape". But it's useful anyway for high gain leads and metal riffs.
For the Boss unit, save money 'til Xmas and buy the GT10 :-) Really.
@krma1970 Thank you kma1970. Since this last comment, I bought the Genz Benz El Diablo 100watt amp head. But I will save to get the GT10. I saw and heard it at a gig once. Awesome! Again, I love the way you play!
Tones and playing on this video are sensational. Would love to rock out over that vamp for hours at loud volumes until someone has to wipe the smile off your face...preferably a hot blonde lol
Hey! Killer demo! I used the Gambale setting with some sustain and slight delay. . .Any hints on amazing clean tones? Any help would be great. ROCK ON!
hey killer sounds and killer playing how did you record this ? as what mic did you use or did you use and have you had experience with the mix sim on the peavey cab ?
Hey man, Your chops are mental!! I was frothing! I recently bought a Marshall JVM410H and find that only the OD 1 in red mode has that scooped tone. The rest is just Marshall-mud for my taste. All along should have chosen the JSX. I also run a 2 x 12 vertical Mesa cab and your demo has just convinced me to list the Marshall on EBay! Cheers from Oz
I'm in a band and I own a JSX and the other guitarist has a Mesa Dual Rec with a Marshal 1960 vintage cab....I have to say, the two amps almost sound identical.... The mesa is a little more dirtier- a lot more mids.....JSX and any other peavey in general tend to sound a bit more digital but the result of the two meshing together is pure amazingnes..
Hi great video and great amp man... i just wandering if the crunch channel can be as "evil" as the same Channel of the 3120 or the xxx... anyway thanx for uploading that, it's a very good guide...
For the evil tone, you'll have to switch to the ultra channel (ultra high gain but really clean at the same time), but the crunch is already huge in possibilities.
In my opinion, the crunch sounds better than the ultra but when you need the "11" button, the ultra really makes the job.
Thanx for your answer... you know, once i tried a xxx and the crunch channel sounded very very saturated, of corse different from the ultra but strong in the same way.... so thanx once again...
hi! great video!... sorry for my english... i'm really inloved of this amp. But i have a question.... Could i play with something like that just in my bedroom? or it's too much? Thanks! nice touch...
EXCELLENT TONE and playind, what cab are you using in the demo? please can you help me...? what cab is better for the JSX the JSX cab or the Marshall 1960B? Thanks???
Hi, as said at the end, I use a MESA 2x12 cabinet. It's kind of fatter & smoother than the JSX one. The marshall must be ok, but they have to less lows for my ears :-)
Excellent chops and thank you for uploading this video. I am looking into buying the JSX in about two weeks and was worried it wasn't versatile enough, you proved me wrong! Also, your harmonic squeel at the end of the Satch jam made this video worth watching. Nice touch.
sure it has :-) U've got to spend a while turning knobs to fit your cabinet and also your guitar mics etc. But it's really awesome. Especially fort this price !
yeah if you cut the mids the active eq will drop in volume for sure, i love my jsx, i just sold my thd hotplate cos the jsx sounds just as good at low volumes imo. i use :
ULTRA T>7 M>7 B>7 GAIN 8 for mesa type sound try it out let me know what you think
Thanx. A little mistake on the last example : (kind of Mesa boogie metal sound) Channel 1 volume is not set to 3 but to 5. Due to drastic MID reduction, you loose a bit of general volume so you have to compensate. But you certainly have noticed it :-) Anyway, it's a real real good amp !
Great playing! What guitar/pickups did you use?
