  • btw, anyone know where this song is from?

  • beautiful.

  • So a couple questions, i have been looking at videos on this camera forever and is there a setting that will allow you to do this? Because the longest exposure is 30 seconds i thought. And how do you like this camera?

  • @tmick990990 You are correct. the longest exposure IS 30 seconds. In these I set it to the max which is 30 seconds. It is kind of limiting. I wish it were up to 4 minutes like my Canon was. I don't see any reason not to, it's just a software setting certainly no hardware limitation. I do like this camera, although I wish it had the focus motor built-in. This means lenses which rely on that feature aren't able to focus automatically. Like my Tokina 11-16 lens.

  • @GNDxero Ok so you did this time lapse with software? I'm still new to this haha but it is very interesting. And with the focus motor not being built in does it make a ton of noise while focusing? like in videos will you hear it? You are the first person who has responded to any of my questions. Thanks!

  • @tmick990990 Yeah, i used quicktime to stitch it all together. The lenses all have ultrasonic motors which are VERY quiet but you can still hear it focusing.

  • @GNDxero So you just take multiple 30sec exposures and then use software to edit it all together right? Thanks again!

  • @GNDxero You could actually record each exposure longer by using bulb mode. The only problem is you need to keep the shutter depressed for the full time or use a cable release.

  • @ElectrifyPhotography @tmick990990 Well, you'd have to hold the shutter every interval, that would be a lot of work. I've taken timelapses with 15,000 pictures! Here's what I got. Go up and check my description. I've put a link to it.

  • @ElectrifyPhotography So you're saying that if i wanted a 30min time lapse i would have to stand there and hold the button the entire time? Cause thats what i pictured in my head when you said that.

  • @ElectrifyPhotography The Bulb mode doesn't work while using the built-in intervalometer, so 30secondes is all what you can get as a max exposure unless you're using an external intervalometer!

  • @GNDxero what Canon camera you use ??

  • @GNDxero if I'm not mistaken the 'bulb' setting allows you to hold the shutter open as long as you want, without using a remote you need to physically hold the shutter button down as long as you want the shutter to be open then to close the shutter release the button, you can do the same with a remote but not have to hold the button.. sorry.. I don't know the specifics but this is what I've read on Nikon's web site, yes, I'm a Nikon user, hope this helps..

  • @1kylehill You are correct. In bulb mode, using a remote, you have to hold the button down, and when you release it closes the shutter. Unless you have a remote, with a "hold" button. Which mine does, you can depress the button, then slide it up and it locks it on. An intervalometer works on the same premise. It can "hold" the shutter open for whatever it is set to.

  • that's beautiful !! what len do you use in thIS Video?

  • @skytreekuan I just used the kit lens for this

  • Oh yeah, sorry what I mean is; for example if I've chosen 'manual' you're then supposed to be able to hold a piece of paper up in front of the lens to adjust it, etc.. How do i get to that point? All that happens when I press 'manual' is it takes me back to the normal menu.

  • @KY1Enewton I think what you're thinking of happens when you half press the shutter? I think.

  • Stupid question.. I can't seem to find how to manually white balance. I can find the setting but how do you actually adjust it as there's only an exposure button?

  • @KY1Enewton Basically any WB mode that isn't Auto is manual. So if you set it to sunlight it stays there. :)

  • Thats the name of the Melody?

  • did any one else see a meteorite at 0:02-0:04

middle left side of the screen

  • @tmlproductions Those might be. Or satelites? Or planes?

  • @GNDxero Figured it out in the end :)

  • This is so wonderful! Congrats for this amazing footage!!

  • @Fightpotato Thanks so much!

  • holy shit this is awesome. I didn't get to do this yet, but I'm glad to know it performs so well on night sky.

  • @ernis1100 Thanks !

  • Only 20 minutes ?

  • Very cool - keep up the good work! =)

  • @jcmegabyte Thanks for you comment!

  • That's so awesome! Well done!!

  • White balance please :)

  • @Niroki Yeah, WB was tough in this one.

  • I WANT ONE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD

  • beautiful, i wish it was longer!

  • @lbagra I have some longer videos here if you want to check them out. It won't let me post a link, but I'll put it in the description.

  • I saw 2 stars fall off the sky :) Does that mean I can wish 2 things? x)

  • Hey How much time does it took you for this 8 sec time lapse?

    Please give details.Will be grateful if u provide.Thanks !

  • @naren153 This was about 2 hours i think. The details are in my blog post about it I think, check out the link in the description.

  • Holy FUCK, that is amazing quality.

  • awesome.

  • @MrArad8 Congrats on the cam. Not sure what exactly you want help with but if you check out my website fstop.onthis.net I have some timelapse tutorials there! Thanks!

  • Cam is great. However, as always it's about the lens. For night stuff, it has to be a fast lens (ie f/2.8) Built in intervalometer is good. However, doesn't allow for some manual settings with it. ie. Bracketing with interval shooting. :)

  • @GNDxero Just got D5100 how do you set this up so you can set a timelapse o the sky? Very interested!

  • Nice video. I'm about to buy this cam and the reaso is the beauty of timelapse. Nice, very nice!!!!

    Is is worth it?

  • Nice Timelapse:)

I tried the automatic and nightscene adjustment but it was not very good for filming the stars. I really wanted to make the whole 999 pictures…so i tried to connect the camera with the laptop via usb to keep up the battery status, but it didn´t work (i i dont want to buy the nikon energy adapter:/ ). Any idea?

    Greetz

    Phil

  • @Boonlena The only other option besides the AC adapter is to buy a battery grip, that'll give you more juice!

  • Could you please share the settings you used and the lens?

    It's awesome what you did

  • Hey, going to try this out, how do you get the photo's to go through so quickly, is there a way to do this on the camera and save it as a movie mode? Or do you have to add in every photo onto a movie editor and make each frame quick?

  • @LifeByFay you have to stitch them together after in a program like quicktime pro. file > import image sequence.

Or, you can try the "miniature mode" on the d5100, which has a timelapse like effect.

  • Nice!

  • cool

  • @JogBird Thanks! Ooh, if you stick around I'm uploaded last nights attempt right now!
