Nice story but my question is that if he was alone, who was there to tell it? Are there any witnesses to see what really happened? The wood cutter couldnt cause he was swollowed thus making him dead? So the donkey told the story? Or the tree?

I heard about this from my mom, she said it also happened in Cambodia. She said that they were more afraid of the trees in the woods than what was actually in the woods. Crazy stuff

If you got the riddle right, you'd be granted immortality, if not, you'd be killed and buried beneath the tree to be used as it's soil. However about a few years ago they chopped it down.. it's just an old stump now.

In Hawaii there used this ugly old tree that was planted in the center of a hawaiian cemetary. it wasn't a tall tree, perhaps 14 feet tall and it's shape on the trunk made an ugly face that looked like an old person sleeping. But there was a legend about it. If you went there during "Shadow hour" which is supposed to be the time when street lights turn off, because the sun will be coming up in thirty minutes or so, the tree would actually talk to you and ask you a riddle.

Nice ghost story. =) Back in the Summer, I read one about the weeping willow -- it was a legend I believe... But that one was about the ghost of a woman.

When I was a little girl. In school they had book of short stories to read. I saw one about a Boy Who Drew Cats, so I read it. I'm not sure if you've heard of it, but it gave me nightmares. Of course I was pretty young at the time. - I like listening to your story, keep it up!
